Can I add a second graphics card?
I have an older G$ Quicksilver with a 32MB Geforce2 MX display card. I want to add a second vga monitor in pan mode to display one program while the other monitor displays another program. Can I add a second GeForce2 MX 32MB AGP card to accomplish this? Or do I need a more powerful card to replace the one I have?
You can't add a second AGP card (there is only one AGP slot on the motherboard). You could add a PCI graphics card, but you will get much better performance by replacing your current AGP card with one that supports two monitors. There are various options depending on whether you have a display using ADC, how much performance you want, and price.
If you need ADC and don't want to buy a DVI to ADC adapter, you can look for a used Macintosh NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX Twinview or NVIDIA GeForce 4 Titanium. These don't support Core Video, so will not be able to take advantage of some features and speed improvements in Tiger.
If you don't need ADC, or get a DVI to ADC adapter, you can get much better performance. The best (but expensive) is the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition 256MB. It has a DVI and a VGA port.
A lot cheaper, and a bit slower, is the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro Power Mac G5 edition, modified to work in a G4 Quicksilver. See:
<http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/630ATI96G4/>
With this card you will need an ADC to VGA adapter to run your second monitor. The other port is DVI.
Beware of the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro PC & Mac Edition 256MB card. It will not work in some Quicksilver modes.

Can I add a Second Video card to my power mac g5
Hi all,
I have a Dual 2.5GHz PowerPC G5.
is it possible to add a second video card to this system. I want to have the possibility of having 3-4 displays.
if it can be done.. do I need a pci or pcix card and can someone recomend one that is available and of good quality..
thanksYes you can add a second card but you need to be sure if your machine is pci, pcix or pcie. The 2.5ghz G5 Quad is a pcie machine. I added a second 256mb card to it and now an running 3 24" and 1 17" monitors. Tom

Can i add a video graphics card to the HP TouchSmart 420t
I just purhased an HP Touchsmart 420T and I'd like to know if I can add a video graphics card?
This is the same answer that has been given for every model over the past 3 years and continues to be the case.
For all intent the graphics cards in the Touchsmart desktops are NOT upgradable, even with a "standard" MXM card since the motherboard and BIOS are custom made for HP and do not support additional non-HP graphics cards and their firmware/BIO -

Can I add a better graphic card to Equium A100-306?
As the title suggests is it possible to add a graphics card to an A100 - 306 Equium in order to better handle games?
Any thoughts/comments much appreciated.
ThanksHello,
Honestly no its not possible. Every model has a set list of parts that can be ordered, and if your model has a graphics card of 128MB the only video card an ASP can order is the one listed for your model. The equium A100-306 is different for instance then the Equium A100-307. From looking at the parts list for your computer, your Graphics card is integrated on the MB, meaning you can not even upgrade it if you wanted. Sorry, no chance for an upgrade on your Notebook. -

How can i make magic bullet looks recognize my second graphic card in my mac book pro 2009
how can i make magic bullet looks recognize my second graphic card in my mac book pro 2009
That model MBP gives you a choice of cards to use – one at a time. it is not designed for them to run in tandem - splitting up the workload.

[SOLVED] Z77 Mpower can't detect second graphic card
Hi everyone
I'm experiencing a problem with my Z77 Mpower.
It's not able to detect the second graphic card.
The complete configuration includes:
Z77 Mpower
i5 2500k
2*4Go G.skill 1866MHz
GTX680
8800GT
Crucial M4 256Go
Corsair AX750
The idea was recycling my old 8800GT as a dedicated physx card
Due to massive cooling the GTX680 will be installed on the second port
Both graphic cards works perfectly when installed alone and I also tested with a GTX570 and results are the same
When I install only one card, it works on 1st port at 16x or 2nd port at 8x,
but if there is 2 cards installed only the first works and bus-width is 8x according to CPU-Z, the second one is invisible in windows, GPU-Z or driver
I didn't tested the 3rd port because my sandy bridge has limited pcie lane
I tested it with bios 17.4 and beta H53, results are the same, I also tried with and without 6 pins power supply on the mainboard and the problem is still the same.
I tried this graphic cards configuration on a gigabyte z68 ud4 and same cpu, ram, vga and psu and it works perfectly.
Is there a bios setting to enable multi gpu ? (tried to enable igp multi screen without result)
Is it possible to have defective pcie port for multi gpu when all pcie ports works alone ?
I have another question about this motherboard
is it possible to have a dynamic vcore related to eist while overclocking ?
on the gigabyte z68 ud4 it's possible by setting vcore on normal and playing with load line calibration and offset
on the mpower this settings appears in bios but are not graduated the same way and I don't understand how they works.
Thanks for your helpThanks for your help flobelix
I already tried and benched this physx configuration on my old gigabyte motherboard
in non physx games the 8x limitation barely don't affect the gtx680
in physx games the 8800gt isn't fully loaded and framerate is near the gtx680 alone with physx disabled.
this configuration gives physx graphical bonus without affecting framerate
the 120W limit of the MK13 may be for fanless use, I have 2 90mm fans attached directly on the heatsink and under furmark the card runs 20°C lower than stock cooling and is very silent
I also kept the stock molded metal plate that cool the power supply and ram under the MK13
But due to this cooling this card can't be installed on the first slot
on the gigabyte until you set the dedicated physx card in the driver both cards and all outputs on cards sends the same signal to screen (bios screen is also sent to all cards)
on my mpower only the first sends signal to screen, but i should be able to set (only for testing purpose) the 8800gt as main device and the gts680 as physx card
unfortunately it don't work because it looks like when a card is plugged on 1st port the mainboard disables the 2nd -
Want to add Video and Graphic Card to my computer system
I Notice that one of the users' in the Apple discussion Board is Listed, (AndyO) he has help me many times in the Past and was succesful in my problrm solution, would he might be able to help me with this?
I had Purchased the Game Spore Creature Creator the Starter Kit which is just the Creature creator game and not the actual game itself. I wasn't able to install the the game on my computer because I don't have the right or not at all Video and Graphic Card install on my computer. I had Contacted the Company "EA" that puts out the Game Spore, this is what they said what the game requirements are: The minimum system requirements for Spore and Spore the Galactic Edition for Mac are as follows:
* Mac OS X 10.5.3 Leopard or higher
* Intel Core Duo Processor
* 1024 MB RAM
* At least 345 MB of hard drive space for installation, plus additional space for created creatures. (260 MB for the Trial Edition)
* Video Card - ATI X1600 or NVidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100
This game will not run on PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) based Mac systems (PowerMac).
For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires at least: an Intel Integrated Chipset GMA X3100 or Dual 2.0GHz CPUs, or 1.7GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
Supported Video Cards
ATI Radeon(TM) series
* X1600, X1900, HD 2400, HD 2600
NVIDIA GeForce series
* 7300, 7600, 8600, 8800
Intel(R) Extreme Graphics
* GMA X3100
and that I need to upgrade my system. Basically I need; ATI Radeon 1600 or NVIDIA Geforce 7300 and a INTEL Extreme Graphic Video Card-GMA X3100, in order to be able to install and play this game. Since I already have this game, I would like to be able to upgrade my computer system which brings me to ask; does somone know or refer me to a web site that has and sells these Video and Graphic Card and supports for the Mini Mac?
Plus they say that I need a 1020 of MB of Ram, I Have already found that 1024 MB of Ram but I just need those Video and Graphic Cards for my computer system. I am adding my computer system Profile to my discussion board to show you what I have on my system, would you be able to tell me if I would be able to add these Video and Graphic card and the memory or Ram 1024 to my computer system?
Note: Here is a web site that I am looking at to add the 1024 MB of Ram to my computer system:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=24188 41&CatId=2453
what do you think?

Can someone Please help me with any suggestions or otherwisde I will have to go to a Apple store and ask for help there.
Thank You,
Trisha Foster
<Edited by Moderator>Hi Trisha,
The only modern Mac's with video cards are the Mac Pro and Xserve (server) systems. They both are priced quite a bit higher than any Mac Mini.
Some systems, like the Mac Book Pro laptop can be ordered with different graphics cards, but that has be done when the system is built, as it is not replaceable once the system is built. To find out which systems, go to store.apple.com. For each system that you select, you can see if there's an option for a better video card.

Can I add a second ATI 4870 to my 2009 Mac Pro?
1. Can I add a second ATI 4870 to my 2009 Mac Pro? Sorry if posted already, I searched and Googled and could not find it.
2. What is the general consensus on the EVGA GTX285? Will this out perform the 4870?
I read somewhere that the ATI needs additional power from the power supply and the GTX does not? Is this true? If this is the case are there extra power supply connectors for an additional 4870 (hence my first question).
The GTX has dual DVI out connector and this is my preferred solution to get 2 x 30" Cinema Displays.
Thanks in advance,
MIke

No. Each ATI 4870 needs two auxiliary power connectors. There are only two in the Mac Pro.

No. Both use two per card.

You can use an adapter to connect a second 30" to the Mini DisplayPort

(The latest adapters have new firmware, and shouldn't have problems.)
If you only need two displays, stick with one graphics card. -
Can I add a second 6-Core: 3.33GHz Intel Xeon "Westmere" processor later?
Can I add a second 6-Core: 3.33GHz Intel Xeon “Westmere” processor later if I purchase a MacPro 2010 with a single Can I add a second 6-Core: 3.33GHz Intel Xeon “Westmere” processor?
Why is the build to order 12 core processor limited to 2.66 GHz Intel Xeon "Westmere" processor?if you look at apples online store; you'll see there is no options to buy / upgrade the CPU at a later date. The online store dose offer: RAM, Graphic Cards, Hard Drives, Raid Cards, Fiber Cards.
The 12 core machine is two 6-Core "Westmere" processors
The 8 core machine is two 4-core "Westmere" processors
The 4 core machine is one 4-core "Nehalem"
The Westmere is a improved variation of the nehalem. With great price performance ratio.
Westmare allow for 12 cores. The Westmere has 3 times faster AES, pages up to 1GB, and improved VMX. (better encryption and virtualization)
With two more cores, there is one third more heat. To compensate for more heat the processor runs at a slightly slower speed. You still get better performance; because you have more cores. When not all cores are in use, the other cores can actually run faster then the chip is rated.

Can I add a second monitor to my MacBook Air notebook and use both monitors simultaneously?
Can I add a second monitor to my MacBook Air notebook and use both monitors simultaneously? For example, have a spreadsheet open on the notebook monitor while the second monitor is displaying an architectural drawing?
MiniDisplay-to-? adapters ... ? replaced by VGA or DVI or HDMI
Best to use only 1 adapter to match the intended cable since mutliple-adapter setup (buy a VGA, then add VGA-DVI adapter) tendsto lose signal strength.
Also graphics chips run hotter driving external display, and since the graphics chip in Air is part of the CPU the CPU may throttle itself as the integrated graphics chip heats up.
Two modes of operation:
Mirror ... same image both displays
Extended ... the other screen is "extra screen space" -
How can I add a second authorized user to my installation of Adobe Digital Editions?
I have initially installed with one user. I have purchased a digital book using my credit card and id from Barnes & Noble. I can't open the content without proper ADE authorization. How can I add another user authorization to ADE?
Paul, if you used one ID to install ADE, you cannot download an ebook from
a site into ADE if you used a different ID. That's the way the Digital
Millenium Copyright Act of 2000 was implemented to prevent unauthorized
copying of ematerials. ADE tells you that in its HELP section. You can't
add a second ID to ADE either, for the same reason.
What you CAN do is to change users, and authorize ADE with the same ID you
used when you downloaded the ebook. You do this by bringing ADE up, then
using the CNTLSHIFTD key combination, you will deauthorize ADE. Close
ADE and reopen it, and ADE should ask you to authorize it. At this point,
you can enter the second ID, and ADE will take off from there. BUT, keep
in mind that any other ebooks you downloaded into ADE with the first ID
will not be accessible until you go through the same process again and
revert to the first ID.
Hope this helps!

Need advice about second graphics card for PowerPC G5
My boss bought me a second monitor for our office computer, so we can use two monitors on one computer. The problem is we need a second graphics card to handle the second monitor and I'm not sure what to buy.
The computer is a Dual 2.7 GHz Power PC G5.
The second monitor that my boss gave me is a View Sonic HD Widescreen LCD with a DVI-D single link connector.
What should we buy to make all of this work together? The company I work for is very cheap, so we need to do this rather inexpensively. You don't need a second card (which would kill several advanced features on the main card anyway) but a card with two appropriate output connectors.
What card is in the machine at present? Open System Profiler in /Applications/Utilities and click on the Graphics/Displays item under Hardware, viz. this screen grab:
The top bold-face line will have the information you need, plus if two monitors are supported (which I am betting is true) one of the displays entries will be "No Display Connected." I am pretty sure that any card that came with the 2.7 originally has two video connectors, probably DVI. According to the specs listed on the Power Macintosh specs pages, the 2.7 base card had a single-link and dual-link pair of DVI connectors. -
My sons have shared an iPad but had just one iTunes account. How can we add a second iTunes account?
There is no reason to add a second iTunes account to the iPad unless your sons want to use their own credit cards for purchases and somehow I don't think is the case here.
Anyway.... Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap that ID and sign out. Then tap sign in and tap Create new Apple ID.
If your sons sync with one iTunes library on a computer, it can get a little confusing with two IDs. If either of them has their own iPod and they have been sharing purchased content with the one Apple ID, it gets a little more complicated as well with two IDs.
