Can i add a second hard drive to my late 2011 mac book pro 15.4

I have the 750 GB HD and am getting down to 300Gb I would like to ad the 750 hybrid to my mac book pro. But didn't  know if there was a place to mount it because I havent taken it apart.

You'd have to remove the Superdrive...will void your warranty...and use something like this:

If you have any problems, you will have to reverse it all before you go to a genius bar. Many users do this with no issues.

  • Hello Can u use plustek optic film 7400 with my late 2011 mac book pro intel i7 OS X v10,10,1, seems like it would worka

    predate any comments or pointers.

If your search for software drivers for this optic film scanner device hasn't
been successful, you could try this other source for drivers that may work:
    http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/plustek_opticfilm_7400.html
However later drivers for old hardware can be troublesome, or patchwork
method to get by and so the results could be spotty. Hopefully you looked
through the results from a search engine and looked to see if there were
any other options. The above vuescan driver says for Mavericks 10.9, &
it may cost to be able to use it.
The factory support site isn't too promising for that model:
    http://plustek.com/usa/support/os-compatibility.html
    http://plustek.com/mea/support/technical-support-form.html - contact support
    http://plustek.com/mea/support/drivers-and-downloads.html - check here
    http://plustek.com/mea/products/opticfilm-series/opticfilm-7400/
Since older hardware gets left behind, it usually is good to keep an older
computer and its OS X version at the level of these peripheral products.
    Good luck & happy computing!

You could put your install disc on a USB Flash drive with Disk Utility. Also, here is the USB optical drive enclosure I bought. He raised the price a few bucks. Mine ran $10.00 with the shipping.

    Hi,
For many 17" (or 17.3") machines such as Envy 17, dv,  Pavilion 17 .... you can add a second HDD (my old loan dv7 has two HDD's and my current loan Envy 17 also has 2 HDD's). You would need the following kit:

  • Where can I buy a larger hard drive for my late 2008, 15" macbook pro?  From reviewing questions and answers on the support community it would appear that having Apple remove the old and install the new hard drive is recommended.  But how/where?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install the new hard disk yourself if you want to. You just need a 2'5" SATA II hard drive, which is compatible with your MacBook Pro. You can buy one at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ You can filter hard drives by computer, so press a "Click to view all...", choose your computer in the sidebar and it will give you the compatible hard drives.
There are different brands for the MacBook Pro. The most recommended are HGST and Seagate, which have good reputation. A 7200 rpm hard drive will give you extra performance

  • Can I install a 1TB Hard Drive into a late 2007 17" MacBook Pro?

Can I install a 1TB Hard Drive into a late 2007 17" MacBook Pro currently running a 160 GB Hard Drive?

It depends upon exactly what you want to do with your Mac.  My old Late 2007 17" MacBook Pro only has 4GB RAM and it works fine.  It is a little slow if I am doing anything involving heavy computing (rendering video, compiling programs, etc.) but it works just fine.  In most cases, the increased RAM will help performance, but the cost can be fairly high with an older machine like you have.

  • I cannot get my photos to download off my memory card to an external hard drive through bridge on a mac book pro.

i cannot get my photos to download off my memory card to an external hard drive through bridge on a mac book pro. it comes up with a message Cannot write to specified directory. Please choose a different directory.

Do not store them in the Cloud.  It isn't really storage.  For iTunes purchases, for example, it is just re-downloading a purchase.  If a label decides to no longer make the item available it will disap[pear from the cloud and that will be it for you.
You can't store items on an external drive simply by dragging them there.  That's too complicated for iTunes and how it is set up to work.  I know I post on this 10x a week and there's many other posts discussing this.  I suggest you browse a bit first.  Your options are basically to either put your whole library on the eternal drive (which is a nuisance if you don't want to drag it everywhere with you), or to copy individual items to the external drive, delete them from the internal drive, then re-add them as new items (re-adding to playlists, etc.).

  • Can you add a second hard drive

Just wondering. what is the exact mobo used in the imac 20inch
is there an extra sata port. would like to add an extension to the ports on the back and be able to add a second hard drive at the speeds that sata allows

No, you can't add another hard drive. There isn't an extra SATA port because the Apple Engineers had to squeeze everything in as close as possible to make the iMac this small and thin. The only user-serviceable/upgradeable part of the iMac is the Memory. For other changes, an Apple Authorized Service Provider has to open up your computer. Another alternative could be a USB 2.0 or FireWire External Hard drive, which would work at up to 500 Mbits/sec.

  • Can I add a second hard drive on Qosmio X500-12Q?

    Hi,
i'd like to know if its possible to add a second hard drive to the X500-12Q ?
i suppose the space is available but i'd like to know if the connector is here & everything
so i could just open the enclosure and plug it in.
    thanks

    Hi jeandujardin,
I dont have Qosmio X500 but generally speaking its no problem to exchange the internal HDD with a SSD but I dont know if the model has 2 SATA connectors.
If you are not sure ask the salesman if its possible to install a second HDD or SSD.
SSDs are no problem because they have the same SATA interface as normal HDDs.

  • External hard drive not in sync with Mac Book Pro

I recently upgraded to a Mac Book Pro from my old and trusted ibook G4 but kept my portable external hard drive. With my ibook, my external hard drive's folders were all organised by name but since using my Mac Book Pro, my folders on my hard drive are all over the place and every time I reorganise them by name, it doesn't save and just reverts back to a disorganised fashion. Why? I didn't select my portable external hard drive to be my time machine because I was worried about erasing it. Any ideas?

The drive is formatted for Windows (NTFS.) To be able to write to it on a Mac, you will either have to reformat it (erasing all data on the drive) or install third-party software. The choice of format depends on your intended use for the drive. For cross-platform compatibility, use FAT32 or ExFAT. For maximum OS X compatibility, use Mac OS Extended.

  • Pavilion dv7 - Can I add a second hard drive?

I have an HP Pavilion dv7 2173cl laptop. I've read that I can add a second internal hard drive. Is that correct? If so, what is the max size that it will take? Any special type that I should buy?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
This model allows to use 2 HDD's. Max capacity is 500 GB.
To install second drive you will need Hard Drive Caddy and Cable Connector. You may buy them here.
Here is service documentation for your model. On page 46 you may check where you may install secondary hard drive.

When I plug it in I can see it in finder but not in Time Machine settings when it asks me to select drive? Is it possible to do this to back up one of my computers as Time Capsule's hard drive is full from backing up other machines.
