Can I add missing businesses to Apple Maps myself?

Hey guys,
Ok I've already posted about the woeful lack of business data in my area on Apple Maps. While we could all moan and complain until the skies fall it won't make anything better.
So I'm wondering, what did apple mean when they said that the more people use Apple Maps the better it will get? Does this mean that we can suggest or add existing businesses to Apple Maps? I sure if Apple came out and asked us to do their job for them they would be lynched but I just wanna get it done and its really bugging me that the information just isn't on there.
While we're on the topic I did search on Yelp in my area and again the lack of coverage is abysmal, yet there is the odd thing like the Cafe Neros around the corner that is on Yelp but not on Apple Maps. I guess I'm wondering who Apple used for businesses in the UK?

  • How can I add multiple, successive destinations in "Maps" such as on a delivery trip with several stops ?

How can I add multiple, successive destinations in"Maps" such as on a delivery trip with multiple stops and so needing driving directions i.e. set up a route ?

    Maps help:
Mark a location with a pin
You can drop a pin on a location to get directions or help you find it again.
    Open Maps
On your map, go to the location you want to mark with a pin.
Choose View > Drop Pin. If the pin isn’t exactly where you want it, put the pointer on it and hold down the button until the pin “hops.” Drag the pin into place, then release the button.
To see information about a location, click its pin, then click the Info button. To close the Info window, click outside of it.
To remove a pin, select it, then choose View > Clear Pin.
    Get directions
Using Maps, you can get directions to help you navigate on foot or behind the wheel. Once you've decided where you're going, click the Share button to send your map and directions to your iPhone. (Your iPhone must have iOS 7 and be signed into the same iCloud account as your Mac.)
    Open Maps
    Do one of the following:
Click Directions to open the directions sidebar, then enter the starting and ending locations.
On the map, click a pin to display its info banner, click the info button to see more info, then choose “Get Directions.” (If your starting location doesn't have a pin, you can Control-click or tap it with two fingers, then choose Drop Pin.)
Click either the car (driving directions) or person (walking directions).
If multiple routes appear on the map, click the one you want to take.
To zoom in on a turn, click it in the directions sidebar.
To close or reopen the directions sidebar, click Directions in the toolbar.

  • Can I add my daughter's Apple ID account to my iTunes account?

    Hi there,
My daughter would like to get her own AppleID, but there is still a lot of her music on our family iTunes account. Can I add a new AppleID account to our iTunes account? Or will she loose access to it once she has her own AppleID (right now she has an iPod touch without an appleID, but she wants to use iMessaging...)
    help?
    thanks

Go to Settings>Store>Tap on her Apple ID and sign out. Then sign in with your ID. It's that simple. If you are running iOS 6, Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Tap her ID.
Any purchases that you made with her ID are now tied to that ID and you will always have to use her ID to update those apps.
Furthermore, should you ever decide to download one of the past purchases made with her ID onto your iPad by signing into her account and using the past purchases feature in any of the stores - you will lock yourself out of your own ID for 90 days by associating the iPad with her Apple ID.

  • How can I link google results to Apple maps?

Before iOS 6 and Apple maps, I could tap on google address search results which would open google maps and use the results there.
Now, I only can use them in the web app or still google maps. While there is a multitude of ways to re-link them to google maps, I was wondering if there is a way of linking those results to Apple Maps instead?

    Copy and paste

  • How can I cache part of an Apple map, so that I can use it when there is no 3G or wifi signal?

I am going abroad and I know the area to which I am going has no signal or any hope of connection.
How can I download the part of a map in the area and use it when I get there? Or do I need to download the whole country map from a third party supplier onto my iPad?

When the map is displayed on the screen, do a screenshot.

  • Can i add channels to my apple tv? iTunes store selection doesnt offer any choices. just to link an account

before I bought my Apple TV I researched what it was supposed to do. it doesnt mirror Angry Birds.
just as a mention, the list of channels i thought i could mirror or watch thru the hockey puck, are just false.
    too bad for Apple

Oh yea, by the way, Apples motto… It Just Works shouldn't have taken a year + forums to learn its software. Maybe I missed that page in the consumer users manual, but the whole purpose for Mac/ Apple is a user friendly interface. At least, I thought that was Steve Job's directive.
Why can I download channel apps on my iPhone and iPad but not add the channel apps on my Apple TV like I can on Roku? Since these are available in the App Store, why should I have to use 2 clients to watch 1 channel? Seems counter productive.

  • How do you add a business to Apple Maps outside the US?

I'm interested in adding businesses in my city because it's lacking a lot compared to google maps. I don't live in the US.
    How do you do it?

I think adding and correcting Maps is done through the "Report a Problem" functionality irrespective of where you are - you can access this using Maps on your iPhone or your Mac, for instance.  This article has quite a lot more information about what is happening and how to report corrections and updates:

  • How can I add an iPad to Apple Configurator without losing the user's settings, folders, etc?

When attempting to add an iPad that has already been in use (for some time) by a particular user into Apple Configurator, I end up having to either wipe the iPad entirely as if it is a new iPad, or restore the user's settings and configuration from iCloud during mini-setup. It seems to be one choice or the other.
Is there a way to add the "old" iPad into Apple Configurator for management purposes yet still be able to restore the user's settings from iCloud? That is - items like: folders, pictures, email settings, app data?

This isnt true. Connecting an unsupervised device to configurator and supervising it will wipe the device, there is no way around that. You can attempt an iCloud restore from here, but anything not backed up prior to supervising the device will be erased when supervising it. I have never tried to restore data from an unsupervised iPad so I have no clue if everything will come back.
Let me clarify... You can successfully restore an iCloud backup of an unsupervised iPad to a new (i.e. different) iPad and have it Supervised with data intact. The process below will allow Configurator to Supervise a device without wiping it when an iCloud backup from a different unsupervised iPad is restored to it.
Try it… Get 2 new unsupervised iPads… we'll call them iPad "A" and iPad "B." Take iPad "A" and install a few apps, take a few photos, change the background, create a new document in Pages, etc. Run an iCloud backup of iPad "A" using your Apple ID. This is our unsupervised backup of iPad "A."
Now take new unsupervised iPad "B" and start running through the setup assistant. When you get to the restore screen, choose to restore from iCloud backup. Log in with your Apple ID. Select the backup for iPad "A." The backup will restore and then the iPad will restart. Once it restarts, you get to a "Hello" screen on the iPad. At this point, plug the iPad into your Configurator computer. On the Prepare screen, turn Supervision ON and select "Don't restore backup." Click Prepare.
Configurator will not wipe the iPad. It will run through the supervision process but not wipe it. Once complete, you'll see that iPad "B" is now exactly the same as iPad "A", but if you go to Settings -> General -> Profiles on iPad "B" you will see a Supervision profile installed.
The key here is to use a different iPad from the originally backed up iPad. You can't restore the backup of iPad "A" to iPad "A" again and supervise it without wiping it. But you can take the backup of unsupervised iPad "A" and restore it to iPad "B" and retain apps, data, and settings of iPad "A" but with the Supervision profile.
    Hope this clarifies things!
    ~Joe
I see where your going with that. I dont have any way to reproduce this scenario in my environment, but I will take your word for it that this works. I have only ever plugged in an unsupervised device to configurator and gone through the setup, which always wipes the device. If your saying theres a way around that you should give that a shot OP.

  • How can I add music to an Apple-formatted iPod from a Windows-PC?

without losing the music that I already downloaded from an iMac?
When I try connecting the iPod to my Windows PC, it prompts me to restore, which would eliminate all the music that's already on the iPod.
    Any way around that?

If your iPod is formatted for Mac it won't run natively on a PC because Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats). However there are third party programs that will allow you to use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows. XPlay and MacDrive for instance get good reviews. XPlay is an iPod specific program and can be used as an iTunes alternative, MacDrive is more general and lets you access various types of Mac formatted drives on Windows such as CDs, DVDs, hard drives etc:

  • Can't add notes to invited events

When somebody sends an invitation (e.g. via outlook) and I accept the invitation in outlook, for some reason I cannot add notes to this event. I can however add notes to events I created myself. Also I cannot delete these 'external' events from my iphone.
    Somebody have a solution?
    Many thanks!
    Edwin

My iCal Preferences tell me that I have CalDAV (whatever that is). It seems that I lost the ability to attach files to calendar events with the recent Mobile Me calendar upgrade. I hope Apple will bring back this functionality soon. However looking at my iCal Help, there is an instruction given to attach files to events. Problem is that I can't seem to get it to work. It says ...
To attach a file to an event invitation:
    1. Double-click the event. If necessary, click Edit to open the event editor.
    2. Drag the file you want over the open event editor. You can also click Add File next to “attachments,” navigate to the file you want, and then click Open. The file appears in the “attachments” field.
    3. If the event is in a CalDAV calendar and you want to allow invitees to add or remove files from the event invitation, select the “Allow Others to Manage Files” checkbox. Only the meeting organizer can select or deselect this checkbox.
    - (iCal also allows you to see a preview of any file attached to an event. To see a preview, select the file in the “attachments” field, and then press the Space bar).

  • A huge amount of businesses missing from Apple maps

    Hi all,
I like so many other people am posting up about the new Apple Maps that have been forced upon us. I've been aware of the major mistakes on the news, ie misplaced towns and railway stations but I think there is a bigger problem that isn't being as well addressed. That is the massive amount of small scale data that is missing all together. Over the last two hours I've been testing a few places I know very well and had some really shocking results. I live in Sale (Manchester) and we are lucky to have lots of nice restaurants and coffee shops. Out of the six long established coffee shops only one appears on Apple maps! Out of all the many restaurants (40+) six appear. Also many businesses that are on the map with the icons Apple have used are in completely the wrong place.
So I also did a search for pubs in a place called Longridge I know very well and out of the ten pubs one appears as a result but if you zoom in a further three can be seen using the icons. I have also noticed that the M60 doesn't have any junction numbers which made travelling to a venue on Saturday difficult, I ended up looking at Googlemaps through the safari browser but ofc it's now sluggish and difficult to use as its not integrated.
So if Apple maps perform as bad as this across the UK then it's no even close to being as reliable as I'd need it to be, I just don't feel I can trust what it's telling me and that's the worst situation to be in when you rely on a map to get around so much.
I am a huge fan of Apple products but am very aware they are not perfect, but even with the no flash support thing, you know there is a reason behind what they are trying to do. However for the first time in a long time I'm now wondering what the **** Apple are playing at. Surely they must know how bad this software is right? I would love to know how it all panned out, ie did Apple get pushed by Google or did they jump? I mean its just insane, Google Maps is already doing everything the customer want so why not carry on using them? Are Apple so stubborn that they would rather nobble every one of their loyal customers than hold hands with Google. I don't know, if anyone out there has any info on what actually happened here then please post up.
As far as I can see Apple Maps is nowhere near ready (although the 3D cities are very nice) and so I'm really hoping they realise this isn't on.
    Cheers,
    Lee

Nokia did the same mistake several years ago stop listening customers!
Now apple is doing the same thing.. if the management has any common sense they will give people to option downgrade (old users) and option to choose between map google and apple maps...
Challenge for apple maps....give your customer choice to choose between maps google and maps apple
then make apple maps so much better that people want volunterily to choose to apple maps?
Is this too much to ask?
Apple are you realizing how much corporate customers you are forcing to move to android phone because of this?
We want our maps google back!
