Can I add thunderbolt to imac 2010?

Hi,
I made a bit of a stuff up and bought the wrong drive for a friends iMac.
I incorrectly took his specification down as being a 2011 iMac when it was actually a 2010. This meant I specified a thunderbolt drive (Promise Pegasys R4) thinking the iMac has thunderbolt. I was wrong!! It only has mini display and Firewire 800.
I see some thunder bolt to firewire docks are due out soon but is there a product that will allow me to add a thunderbolt interface to the iMac?
Something along the lines of a PCI type card or a Firewire 800 to thunderbolt adapter?

You cannot add Thunderbolt to any iMac that didn't come with one, at least as of today though probably also for the foreseeable future. There are no PCI slots in your iMac, and I've never seen a Firewire to Thunderbolt converter even proposed, and given the technology I doubt that one would be practical if even possible.

So I have purchased a windows machines so that I can play all my favourite games on, and it's not so much a problem rather I have a 27" iMac that I would like to use as an additional monitor for said games.
I have had a look at this article on using the iMac as a display for another computer and things looked promising. I think I need a bit of help getting there though as I can't find definitively anything online to tell me exactly what I need. Most stuff talks about connecting other Apple computers that have mini display ports.
My PC's video card is an nVidia Geforce GTX 650 Ti that sports 2 DVI ports and a mini HDMI port (adaptor to full HDMI was included). The iMac has a mini display port. I went out and got a HDMI cable and Moshi Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (with audio) to try to use the iMac as the additional display. I connected the PC with [a generic] HDMI cable to the adaptor which ran to the iMac and went through the appropriate steps (ie. pressing CMD + F2) to initiate target display mode. Nothing happened.
I have read that other people with different situations tried an SMC reset, but this didn't work for me either.
At this stage I wanted to see if the DVI port would do anything, or perhaps looking at a particular kind of HDMI cable, but wanted to see what the community can offer up as advice.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

1. What is the estimated cost of repairing or replacing the harddisk in Apple store?
2. Can Apple replace a new harddisk which brought from other vendor, subject to a service fee?
3. Since my iMac is covered under the official harddisk replacement program which was just expired in the middle of this year 2013,
     can i still replace my harddisk without fee after expiration?
4. I have tried rebooting my iMac using USB flash drive. It does work in first time but failed second time using other flash drive with larger capacity.
     What is the problem here?

I found that the Thunderbolt input accepts the mini-DVI (in my case converter to VGA for a tutorial use monitor)
BUT, you have to really oush it in 'til it clicks. I thought it too loose until I tried it. works just fine!!

How to add a SSD to 2010 iMac with 1tb drive? I have a mid-2010 iMac with 1tb HD and would like to either replace the HD with SSD -or- add 256 or 400gb SSD to maybe the Optical Drive and use it as the boot drive. Is this possible with Model 11,2? i thought i\I'd read it was, but recently am reading my system is too old - OWC have SSD drives for newer models not Model 11,1 -or- 11,2

Any SATA SSD will work, whatever you are reading is incorrect.
You have 2 choices with this model-install the SSD in place of the HDD or the Superdrive.
If you are installing in place of Superdrive you will need some form of SSD Caddy-these can be found on the cheap at places like eBay, also OWC sell one called the DataDoubler.

If installing in place of old HDD you will notice that the propietary Temperature Sensor will not fit on the new drive, you will need to replace this with a sensor such as this or this

If you still have doubts contact OWC as mentioned above, I would start deciding whether your Superdive is needed or if you want to swap out the HDD.

Interesting. This sort of thing is more common on Windows systems. Taken at face value, one of the iTunes program files (one of the Japanese language resources) is damaged.
I'd try running your Disk Utility over your startup disk. Does it find/repair any damage? If so can you empty your trash and reinstall your iTunes successfully now?

Of what did your old Mac die?
It sounds to me like you have some file corruption somewhere. Either in the transfer of your library to the external or the external itself is flaky if it keeps ejecting.

iTunes Authorizations are limited to 5 Computers and 10 devices total. If you've already reached the 5 computer threshold, removing the iPod won't do any good. Nevertheless, here's some more info:

Can't add a NEW EVENT to my iCal on my iMac- however the event is sync'd to my iPad with no problem. iCloud is turned on for iCal. Is this a Lion problem or something turned pff. I cannot find an answer. Help?

It is a possibility that you are adding new events to your "On My Mac" calendars.
"On My Mac" calendars will not sync with iCloud. After backing up the "On My Mac" calendars, and ensuring that all events are duplicated on your iCloud calendars you can delete any "On My Mac" calendars.

I can not add a new appointment to a shared calendar in Outlook 2010. I can see the calendar and appointments in it (all appointments are marked as busy, the detail can not be seen. I want it to do this) and I can and a New meeting to the shared calendar
but I can not add just an appointment.
I do not want e-mail being sent to the owner of the shared calendar everytime I add something.
When I view the appointment that im creating in the shared calendar the New appointment button is greyed out but the New meeting button is available.
The permision on the shared calendar for the user is:
Custom
Read = none
Write = create items, create subfolders, edit own
delete = Own
Other = folder visable

Does it happen when you create an appointment via Outlook 2003?
Do you have any mobile device?
How many users encountered the issue, all users or some user?
At first, I suggest you recreate outlook profile.
At second,
use PFDAVAdmin

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

IMac 27-inch: 2.66GHz - can I add Cinema LED Display?

I am considering to buy a 27-inch: 2.66GHz iMac but I need dual display - can I add a LED Cinema Display?

I have the exact same iMac connected to a 23" Cinema Display with no performance issues whatsoever, even when rendering video while watching HD TV-- the only problem is plugging the FW400 into something to get the FW ports on the back of the display connected since there's only an available FW800. USB, of course isn't a problem. In the absence of an adapter, I just used the plug on the back of a connected FW 800 drive (probably lowering the speed of the drive connection, but I have the FW400 connections on the back of the Cinema Display which still come in handy for other peripherals). And I haven't felt the drive connection slowed to any degree.
You'll also notice the matte Cinema Display is dim in comparison to the brightly lit 27"... you won't regret getting it though, it's an amazing machine.

I tightened all HD screws and it didn't help. With the machine running and side of the case off, I physically stopped both the video card fan and the front case fan with my finger for a couple seconds and the noise continued. I also took all hard drives out one by one and rebooted each time. Again, the noise continued until I took out the Mac HD in Bay 1, rebooted, and I had a very quiet, silent machine. The issue is the hard drive in bay 1 that shipped with the computer, it's without a doubt causing the hum/woosh sound. I still need to know if I can safely swap the Mac HD from bay 1 to bay 4 without any issues to the operating system. I would like to try that to see if it dampens the noise but I also want to make sure this swap won't screw up my machine at all.
