Can I adjust color channels individually?

In photoshop, if I have a photograph and want to select the color green, I get out my magic wand and select the color green. I can control the amount of selection by adjusting the wand settings.
Can i do anything like that in FCPro?
If I have video footage of a woman wearing a white dress standing in a field of grass (but the grass is a little too brown because it's almost winter here in Texas) can I just adjust the green channel of the grass and make it more green without affecting the green in the dress and skin of the woman?
I've been playing around with the 3 way color filter but it adjust everything on the screen. I just want to adjust certain items.
Thanks!
-Fraky

Photoshop has much better selection tools than FCP. You'll want to layer your clip and then put a mask over what you do not want to color. apply the rgb balance (I think there are some other channel filters but I'm not remembering and can't look at the moment) and then tweak away on the green channel.
for a bit more control, apply the 3 way and then finagle the limiter to what you want.

  • Can't adjust color in placed image layer?

I used File > Place to bring in some images, which are now layers. I want to adjust the colors of the layers but in Image > Adjustments everything is grayed out (except Shadows and HDR). The original layer allows full adjustments. The images I placed are .psd files. I tried flattening one of the images but that didn't fix the problem. If I open the original files I can make full adjustments. What should I do?
I'll attach a picture of the layers.

Those layers are smart objects, which can't be edited directly. Three options:
    1. Rasterize the layer to turn it into a normal layer (Layer > Smart Object).
    2. Use adjustment layers clipped to the layer you want to adjust.
    3. Open the smart object by double-clicking the layer thumbnail, do your edits and resave it.

  • GL positng functionallity can be adjusted to be "individual" in RFCCSSTT

    HI
please tell me in which part of the code needs to be changed so that we can adjust the GL posting functionality to be individual as of now it is coming as BATCH
When running an execution of the Settlement program everything is done in ONE Batch for the run. Hence only one file
will be send through the interface with many underlying transactions though (that is all FINE), but the subsequent GL posting generated by the Settlement program is only one summarized posting. i need each individual transaction to generate an individual GL document.
Can anyone tell me as to how i can achieve the same in the code.

    Hello,
Instead of looking at how to post summary amounts. Kindly look and analyse how to do automatic clearing of bank accounts. In bank accounting you can configure the system such that there is automatic clearing at the time of upload of Bank statement. This functionality would enable you to go ahead and do the clearing automatically.
For more details you can refer to SAP Help - Bank accounting. In case you have further clarifications on the process mapping you can post, so that we both can learn and further understand your requirement here. Precisely, thats what we are hear for right

  • How do you use the color channel output mode in Ultra Key in Premiere Pro CS6?

I'm wondering how the color channel output mode is supposed to be used in the Ultra Key inside of Premiere Pro CS6? I've looked through all the Adobe help items and I don't see any documentation on it.

Before I answer, you might want to read the following article: http://www.photoshopessentials.com/essentials/rgb/
So, basically, if you understood all of that, and maybe already knew all of that, then you can use the color channel to see more deeply into the effect by looking at the details of the image through the lens of the color channel.

  • Adjusting saturation of individual color channels?

In Photoshop, the Hue/Saturation adjustment allows individual adjustment to each color channel. So for instance, one can lower the saturation of only red, without affecting global saturation. I've used it thousands of times over the years, especially when shooting with Nikon cameras, which often seem to have artificially over-saturated yellows, or when shooting HDR, which tends to boost reds.
I've been scouring the internet for a plugin (or a hidden slider) to do the same within FCPX, to no avail. I'd love to be able to adjust a clip's global saturation up, while specifically lowering saturation in reds and yellows. Or at times, a clip simply has an oversaturated color that I want to diminish.
I've thought about using selective masks to grab a hue and desaturate, but that's a weird workaround to me.
This is a chance for the haters and maligners of FCPX's color correction to make themselves heard. Any thoughts?

Try this and see if it helps:
    http://sight-creations.com/fxexchange/ChannelSaturation.zip
(if you need intallation help: http://sight-creations.com/install4fcpx/)
    This is the parameter arrangement:
The Value parameters can be used to darken/lghten the channel.  I also added  "overall" Brightness and Contrast controls (if you darken or lighten too much with the values.)  The Pivot is part of Contrast and is a midpoint of sorts (it more or less is a fine-tuner for contrast.)
Big hint: small moves. Also, once you desaturate a channel, you'll probably want to increase it's Value (and vice versa) to help balance the other channels so that you don't develop an unwanted cast. You can toggle the original state with the effect by clicking on the blue square dot by the effect's name in the inspector.
    Here's a little *extreme* before/after:
(untouched original and probably not the best example [but I have problems with oversaturated reds as well.])
(after extreme desaturation of reds, some additional brightness and a little contrast along with the value adjustments — there's a fair amount of latitude with this effect.)

  • Reversed B&W adjustment layer; export color channel to layer; CS5.1; Ps extended (Win 7 64-bit)

I've had a serial number for 1 whole day, so I hope this isn't a completely ignorant question.
What I want to do is to have an adjustment layer that is a reversed, black and white image.  I initially thought to merge B&W and reverse adjustment layers, but read that an adjustment layer may not be the target of a merge.  Is the way to accomplish this to fiddle with the B&W adjustment layer sliders somehow?
Also, I think this is a related question, if I like how the black and white displayed image of a given color channel looks, how can I export that channel into a layer?
    Thanks!

You can't merge adjustment layers, but you can clip one to the underlying layer (including another adjustment layer), so that it doesn't affect the layers below.
Click between the two layers in the Layers panel while holding the alt key (the cursor will change). The keyboard shortcut is alt+ctrl+G (although I don't remember if this is the default shortcut or if I made it up...I lose track).
As for turning a channel into a layer it's straightforward. Target the channel and copy, then target the RGB composite and paste (otherwise you'll just paste into the same channel).
Edit: for having had a serial number for a whole day, I must say you have an excellent grasp of the concepts. Those questions aren't ignorant at all; quite the opposite

  • Can the adjustment brush be set to mask for highlights, mid tones, or shadows individually?

I am a recent convert from Apple Aperture, where one can brush adjustment masks onto an images highlights, mid tones, or shadows individually.  Can this be done in Lightroom?  It makes adjustments around trees, for instance, so easy to do precisely...
    Thanks!
    g2

The answer to your question is:
No. (masking based on specified tonal range(s) is not supported).
And, yes - auto-masking brush is tone-sensitive and will mask, to some extent, based on tone (also color, I think, and who knows what else.. - it doesn't work very well in my opinion).
If this does not sufficiently answer your question, then perhaps you need to elaborate and clarify the question.

  • How can I adjust the skin color of only one person in the photo (Elements 11)

How can I adjust the skin color of only one person in the photo (Elements 11)?
    Thanks for your help.

From your question, I assume you know how to do it for all persons :
Menu : Enhance/Adjust color/adjust color for skin tones
So what you have to do is to do the color correction on a layer copy. Concentrate on the person to enhance and ignore the rest of the picture.
When you are satisfied, add a mask to the layer copy and fill it with black.
Set your foreground color to white
In the layer palette, click on the mask icon on the right of the layer icon.
Then use a brush to paint white on the skin of the person to reveal the correction.

  • How can I combine 3 bitmaps? However, it should be each bitmap for each color channel, RGB

How can I combine 3 bitmaps? However, it should be each bitmap for each color channel. RGB
How can i do it by AS3 ?

bitmap1 will supply the red for the final bitmap, bitmap2 will supply the green value for the final bitmap etc?
if so, loop through the final bitmaps pixels and assign values using setColor() or setColor32 and the bitwise operators to extract and add rgb values.

I brought a new ipad mini with retina. The color saturation is too low to me, especially the purple. My wife started to complain because the color is really different from inphone and ipad. Can user adjust that?

Other than a couple of minor adjustments, such as the one that Diavonex suggested above, there is nothing that a user can do in settings to adjust color. There is no way to calibrate the color like you can do with a computer monitor.

  • Can someone explain the "colors" channel of the histogram?

    I'm using CS4 on a Mac
Could someone explain the "colors" channel of the histogram? Does it simply analyze the image in terms of the % of pixels that are
    *blue
    *cyan
    *green
    *yellow
    *red
    *magenta
    *grey

    Good day!
It represents which number of pixels have which values in the respective Channel, the refreshed total ("Pixels") is the total number of pixels (image or Selection).

    Hi,
Which operating system are you running on?
Have you tried resetting the tools?
Click on the small down triangle at the top left of the tools and select Reset all tools
Once you are in the crop tool, you are clicking on the accept tick or the cancel symbol aren't you?

  • How can I apply color to black and make it accurate?

    Hello,
I have an illustration that is black, white, and shades of gray. I want to apply a color to the black, and have all the grays become tints of that color. I have tried different blending modes and I have tried monotones, but I don't think either of these techniques are working. When I go back to check the color, it's a different color, and it prints looking different than the color I had selected.
Do you know how I can make this happen?

May I suggest:  Layer - New Adjustment Layer - Black & White, then use the Tint facility.
Personally, I often find it more handy (and providing more control) to use a Curves adjustment layer above all the others.  Grab the curves of individual color channels and pull them this way and that to alter the color of what's underneath.  It's not hard to keep whites white, blacks black, and give the stuff in between believable coloration.
