Can I, and if so how do I updgrade my PowerBook G4 from OSX 10.5 to 10.5.6 or higher?
I purchased and installed OS X 10.5 to my Powerbook PPC G4 this evening without any trouble. It did take me a little work to figure out how to get iTunes/Quicktime upgraded and working properly but the ASC had some great answers. My problem now is upgrading/updating my Safari 3.0.4 and my Adobe Flash 9. I found updates for Safari for the old 10.4.11 sadly AFTER I installed the new OS. I downloaded the next version for Leopard, but it says I need a newer OS for the 5.0.6 that I finally tracked down. I can find newer versions of Flash Player, but all want my OS updated. I have searched without success for reliable information about what I need to do to go as far as I can with OS X. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. As my user name implies, I've been afraid since OS 9 was retired. I started early in the '80s with an old Performa and knew my way around it blindfolded. I'm pretty much at a loss when it comes to the newer systems. Please simplify any information you have for me 'cause I might as well be a full fledged newbie right now. Are there downloads that increase a little at a time or is there a larger update that will get me where I need to go in one install? I know there are all kinds of questions about this but honestly I haven't found any that helped me. I've been at this for nearly 5 hours now and I'm getting cross eyed. If you need more information that I have provided here, please let me know. Also, I have an iMac with Intel Core Duo that I'll be working on next.. after I get this little notebook that could where it needs to be. I LOVE this computer and will hang on to it until the end. I still have my old Performa and two of the old colored iMacs stuck in closets. *L* Again, I appreciate any help you can give me. Here's what I'm running:

No. purchases are forever tied to the apple ID used to buy them. Delete them and buy your own copies. -

Time Capsule is for backing up your data. It's not really a solution for live file storage; using it will not reduce the bloat of your boot volume.
If you have a lot of movies, music, etc. in your iTunes Library, that can be a good thing to move to an external drive. Here's how:

After you follow those instructions to copy your media over to the external drive and point iTunes to it, you can delete it from your internal drive. -
When sighning in and out of an ios device some of the icloud data from the icloud account used to sighned in stays even after sighning out. Is it the same on pc icloud and if so how do you delete it. ( This is the online site by the way.)

Thanks for taking the time to respond - however your reply didn't really help as you haven't explained how to delete the compilation album that had been created.
I managed to sort it out by doing the following (I'm posting this so that it may help others). I don't know if this is the simplest/most elegant solution - but it works.
In iTunes, find the compilation (in my case, the 153 songs) and, starting with the first song, follow this procedure:
On the iPhone go to 'Songs' and scroll down the list until you find the first song that was listed in iTunes (above). You should notice (as in my case) that the song will have the correct title (and artwork too if you'd found this previously before making the compliation) but the wring artist.
Swipe LEFT and press the 'Delete' button.
Repeat with second song in iTunes list, deleting the individual songs from the iPhone, one by one.
Although tedious, this seemed to work for me. Reason for doing down the iTunes list is that it is in a pseudo-alphabetical order and I wanted to make sure I'd got every one.
Now busy re-importing the original albums from CD.
Thank you APPLE for making this such a laborious process. Why can't designers actually TEST the products they design so that they can appreciate first-hand the likely problems?

I need to backup emails so I can uninstall and reinstall TB how?
TB will not let me send emails. I can receive, but not send. I have double checked the settings and even conferred with my ISP who also can't figure it out. I have resigned myself to having to export or save my emails (I have several email addresses) uninstall TB and then reinstall it to regain a working copy.
TB has slowly deteriorated over the past few months. Today I had issues with 3 out of 5 of my email accounts. one gmail and the others from my local ISP.
How can I export the messages in a format that will allow me to bring them back into an email program?
I've gotten various error messages and believe the TB software has been corrupted. IMHO the only fix is to reinstall a clean copy........

HAving said that, most send issues once incorrect settings are excluded arise from anti virus programs (they are not all that good at mail on the whole.)
A standard diagnostic is to restart your computer in safe mode with networking and see if the issue resolves. If it does then anti virus changes are indicated until a working arrangement is found (Personally I just turn off email scanning, as it offers only marginal protection for maximum issues)

With iTunes closed, copy (safer if you don't yet have a backup) or move the entire iTunes folder from <User's Music> to X:\ as X:\iTunes (where X is the drive letter of the external). Press and hold down shift as you click the icon to start iTunes, keep holding shift until asked to choose or create a library, click choose, then browse to and open X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.
Note that changing the advanced preference for the media folder location doesn't change where iTunes expects to find existing content. Moving the library in the way outlined above however will work.
You should think about backing up your library to another external drive or network share.

Sorry, but I am still rather new to LabVIEW and NI MAX. I connected both devices (a linear probe and an angular encoder) to my NI 9401 chassis. I figured out how to create tasks for each and get continous samples readings from each. When trying to run both in LabVIEW, I get the error saying that I cannot run multiple tasks at once. It suggests the Control Task VI, but I did not see any help in that. Any advice?
Here is some general information, whatever it is worth: Both encoders are operating off of the same clock source, PFI4, which to my knowledge corresponds to CTR 1 A, where the angular encoder's A signal is wired in. The linear's physical channel is ctr0 and the angular's is ctr1.

It looks like my options are always counting up or always counting down whenever the encoder is read... For my application, I need it to read when the linear encoder goes in and when it goes out... Am I doing something incorrectly with it?
I am using a probe to measure the contour of a part, and using a motor to spin the part, with one encoder measuring the angle of the motor and the other measuring the displacement of the probe.
Also I am still not seeing a way to simultaneously read both devices in NI MAX... I cannot use two counter inputs from the same device at once in the same task it seems. -

My 2009 Macbook Pro's Safari doesn't show the tool bar anymore. I can click on a diagonal arrow in the upper right corner that appears when I put my cursor there and the tool bar will show, but then it disappears again. Also, when I get an email and click on an internet link the Safari doesn't open full page like it used to - it opens as a small little box and I have to click the diagonal arrow in upper right corner for it to open full screen. Any ideas how to correct this - it is so annoying. Thanks for any help!

Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.

I am trying to transfer older files from a Mac PowerBook G4, running system 9, printing those documents as pdf, using Acrobat 4. Then those pdf documents will transfer to my newer MacBook Air, running OSX 10, allowing me to store and use them. My problem is that Acrobat 4 no longer seems to work on the old Mac, and I don't know how to fix it. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

My iMac was stolen - but I think there's a backup on my Time Capsule (which wasn't stolen). I have a new iMac which I've been using normally; I didn't use the 'Restore from...' option at the start because I thought the Time Capsule had nothing on it. So how do I now recover files from the Time Machine? I can see various back-ups on the Time Capsule, from various machines - laptops, etc. - but it's not letting me open any of them to see what they contain. Does anyone know how I access this information?

Why did you start a new itunes account? This will just cause problems.
Your library will only be where you put it.
It has alwasys been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good at all, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:
