hi alan i run a business on ebay selling photos and negs. i recently installed yosemite and it locked my entire library on iphoto. when i try to download the app to free it from ishop it tells me there is a fault with the app and my  iphoto is frozen. i am basically out of work and finding it very hard to find someone who can help me unlock it.. look at the things being said about this yosemite  locking this.....freezing that... be very careful if you need your business for your livelyhood. the actual performance is really good.....better display ...much faster and well presented but is it worth having parts of your compy put out of action i possibly think not. i am new to this community so hopefully someone reading this may be able to advise us both.....paul

  • Adobe Flash: This plugin is vulnerable and should be updated.

I am not a fan of Adobe as they are very Microsoft-centric. When they stopped support for Linux they lost my support. I have been spoiled by running a dated Adobe Flash plugin. My pages load so much faster and I only see the plugin actually execute Flash when I click to allow it. This means I get a 2nd benefit of being able to have more tabs and windows open without bogging down my system.
Is there any way I can update my Adobe Flash to the current version and continue to enjoy the benefits of "This plugin is vulnerable and should be updated"? Please feel free to limit answers only to the current release of Firefox/Mozilla.
    Thanks!

One thing to add since you mentioned it: I'm posting from a linux test system that runs 3.6.13 to support a specific need and is unrelated to the question.
The question was posed based upon systems running 21.

  • Can we and should we renew the adobe flash with the new Safari download?iobove flasd;nd

can we and should we renew the adobe flash with the new Safari download the got rid of it?

The Flash plug-in is not deleted when you upgrade Safari. But in any event you should use the most recent compatible version of Flash - Download version 10.3.183.19 for Mac OS X 10.4 - 10.5 (6.1MB) - for your version of OS X.

  • Photoshop brush lags and stops after updating to Yosemite

After updating to Yosemite whenever I am using brush or the eraser tool it stops or lags (I am not sure what to call it).
What happens is I can't hit any other shortcuts keys like "[ ]" for increasing the brush size and even changing tools like pressing "V" but if I click the icon it will be picked.
I checked the history panel it also stops there.
    I am using
    Wacom Bamboo CTH-670
    Wireless keyboard
    Wireless Mouse
    iMac (21.5-inch, Mid2010)
    I also did these things
    - Reinstalled photoshop and driver of Wacom
    - If I use mouse it works okay
    - Because mouse is okay I thought maybe it is my wacom but used the brush in Lightroom it works perfectly there
    - Using the clone stamp tool like a brush it works perfectly.
    What should I do now?

Are you running CS6? if so, go to Menus, shortcuts, Lasso tool, or Photoshop stop working when using a Wacom tablet | Mac OS
and install the white window workaround plug-in. Let us know if this clears up the issue

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List

  • My iPhone 4 doesn't reconnect once it says 'No Sevice' and should I update my phone to iOS 6.1.2?

This has happened before, my iphone will not connect to any network once I go out places with wifi, so I went to the Apple Store and they gave me a new one.
Now I have had this one since June and it started not reconnecting to any network and I have to switch on and off the airplane mode in order to get the network back. Do people in Apple Store know how to fix this or is there actually any way to fix it?
I am using 3 so I don't know if they could be the problem.
Also, will updating it to iOS 6.1.2 help with this problem? However, I have seen a lot of posts saying their battery die really quickly after updating it , so I don't know if I should update it. My phone is not insuranced anymore so I don't want to risk.

If it really is an iPhone 3Gs and not an iPhone 3G...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Check for Updates “...
If an Update Appears Install it... if not... you are up to date for your particular Device...

  • IMac G5 2009 - should I update to Yosemite?

I have an early 2009 iMac G5 - 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo currently running 10.9.5 and I am terrified to update to Yosemite based on the reviews.  Could someone who has a similar age iMac tell me that they updated and have no issues please?
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

You cannot have a G5 if you are running Mavericks since a G5 cannot run an Intel version of OS X. There is no reason to fear Yosemite. There's also no reason to upgrade unless you must use Yosemite for some reason.
Note that you would be wise to save your copy of Mavericks since Apple no longer permits one to download it. So, install Yosemite on a separate partition or an external drive before you decide to use it on a regular basis.

  • How can I turn off upgrade/update to Yosemite?

Having tried the Yosemite Beta, I've decided to stay with Mavericks for a while. How can I turn off the notification / blandishment / request asking me to  upgrade / update to Yosemite so I don't inadvertently wipe out the hours & hours of effort it's taken me to revert to Mavericks on my MacBook Pro?
I'm not opposed to going to Yosemite, but I need to be able to afford to upgrade from 2Gb RAM in this old MacBook Pro before it will make any sense.

In your Adobe Application Manager you have something like this:
Remove the tick marks (I believe you guys call it check marks) against the product for which you don't need updates.  See the red boxed item.  Also make sure the right side has the two ticks as shown because that is always required.

  • How can me and my husband update our 2 new mobile ...

I purchase 2 new sim cards 1 for me and 1 for my husband, both were purchased in Israel under my own account since the provider (Golan Telecom) does not have an option for registering with my husband's passport number, only with my Israeli ID number.
Yesterday my husband tried to update his new number in his own Skype account and couldn't do so. apparently Skype does not recognise the +972-58 initials and asks for some code.
I tried to update mine and got the same result, i couldn't update and i have no idea what is this code and where to get it from. Golan Telecom refered me to ask Skype as they don't have any idea what it is all about, they don't have information.
How can we update our new numbers on each of our accounts?

Each of you select your device in iTunes.
Click the tabs across top and select what you want to sync.
Click the Apps tab and uncheck Automatically sync new apps.

  • Plugin check says that Java 1.6.0_29 is vulnerable and should bl updated on Mac when 1.6.0_29 is current and is already on the machine. Glitch?

Mozilla Plugin Check gives a vulnerable warning for Java, even though its up to date on the page it sends you to.

We have just upgraded the JRE to 1.6.0_29 which has added additional security and caused our part of our application fail.
    Try going to 1.6.0.27

    RMI Registry Issue
A bug in the rmiregistry command included in this release may cause unintended exceptions to be thrown when an RMI server attempts to bind an exported object which includes codebase annotations using the "file:" URL scheme. The RMI servers most likely to be effected are those which are invoked only by RMI clients executing on the same host as the server.
RMI annotates codebase information as part of the serialized state of a remote object reference to assist RMI clients in loading the required classes and interfaces associated with the object at runtime. Exported objects which are looked up in the RMI registry and invoked by RMI clients running on hosts other than the server are usually annotated with codebase URL schemes, such as "http:" or "ftp:" and these should continue to work correctly.
As a workaround, RMI servers can set the java.rmi.server.codebase property to use codebase URLs other than the "file:" scheme for the objects they export.

  • Completely disable "this plugin is vulnerable and should be updated" page.

Is there a way to either completely disable this check, or allow a global pass for all websites?
I am aware that I can add individual websites by clicking the icon in the location bar and telling it to always load plugins to that particular site, however for the particular project I am configuring firefox for this is unfortunately not an option - if I can't turn this off I will need to look into other browser options which would be an incredible pain as right now the setup is perfected minus this one point.
I have had a look in the about:permissions page and the only option there for Plugins is 'Allow' or 'Always ask'. I have this set to allow but clearly that the above warning is not influenced by this.

I'll offer a reason why someone would not want to update Flash in particular, in this case it's me, and the reason is simple. Updates after 11.1.102.63 don't function in full screen mode on my 1.4ghz Celeron powered, Windows XP Media Center version 2002 w/service pack 3 computer.
Get a new computer you say? Not in the budget.
You're at risk you say? Yep.
It's a shame that Flash isn't backwards compatible to this poor computers heyday. I always tell Flash NO never update, but now Firefox is forcing Flash to be disabled against my wishes and causing me to click on everything Flash if I want it to run. In one sense I don't mind since it's like a built in ad blocker I guess. In another it's quite annoying and I simply want an option to tell Firefox "Yes, I know that. Do as I say anyway."

  • Should I update to Yosemite?

Am currently running Mountain Lion.  Didn't upgrade to Mavericks after reading all of the problems people were having.  Now it seems to be the same for Yosemite.   So is it worth it?

Have not noticed any bugs. Sounds more like you have incompatible third party installs or have installed a bummed install. The tens of millions of Yosemite downloaders do not appear to have issues. Only a few in Troubleshooting Forums such as this, which is what is to be expected. There have been far fewer complaints about Yosemite than there were about the initial releases of Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Lion and Snow Leopard. Those forums reflect this.
If you cannot prepare your Mac for a system upgrade and do the simple steps, then yes, take it in for a professional to do. As I say, I have not yet seen any 'bugs'.
    Cheers
    Pete

  • Have both FF 33.1 and 34.0.5. Can I, and should I, delete the older version?

This non-computer savvy senior citizen female is trying to clean up my Dell laptop (windows XP SP3) for the new year. What trash I've accumulated! Anyway, noticed I have 2 versions of Firefox. Version 33.1 is 79.58MB and version 34.0.5 has 84.4MB. Can I delete from my computer the older version? ... If someone answers this, please explain in simple language! ... Thank you in advance. ... HEALTHY New Year to everyone!

That is to say, remove Version 33.1

  • Can I and should I move my home directory to my new Thunderbolt RAID drive?

I have just purchased a Thunderbolt Promoise Pegasus Raid set to Raid5.  I have never owned a RAID device before so i apologise if these questions seem strange or rudimentary.
I am running an internal 7200 RPM 1TB disc but I have heard that the Thunderbolt throughput is faster than even my internal drive.  Is that the case?
    If so...
Would it be possible/wise for me to move my home directory to the RAID?
Would it be possible/wise for me run the entire system from the RAID?
Finally, if I keep the system/home directory on the RAID, can I/shoud I  use the RAID for Time Machine Backups?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts

    Here's what I did:
Copied my home directory to the RAID (not NAS incidentally, but RAID via thunderbolt)
    System Prefernces -> accounts
Unlock to make changes and control-click on the account you want to move.
In there you will see a home directory location.  Change it to where your new home directory location is.
    Restart.
You know it has worked if the new location icon is the familiar picture of a house.
Probably a good idea to have a fallback account you can log into in case something happens.
No issues with any software, plenty of room now on the internal drive ad everything works nice and snappy
