Can i back up more then one computer

can i back up more then one computer to my Time Capsule?
if so, how do i set it up?

Time Machine will create a separate file for each computer.
Are the two computers with a same name ?

    Hmmmm.
If you reset the AirPort Extreme by holding in the reset button for 9-10 seconds and then releasing, the AirPort should be back in default settings which would allow mutliple computers to connect to the LAN ports on the AirPort.
Power off the cable modem for now and leave it off at least 15 minutes.
With the AirPort Extreme still powered on, hold in the rest button on the back for 9-10 seconds and release. Allow a full minute for the AirPort Extreme to restart to a slow, blinking abmer light.
Then, power off the AirPort Extreme.
Check to make sure that the Ethernet cable from the modem is connected to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort Extreme.
After the modem has been powered off for at least 15 minutes, power it up and let it run for 5 minutes by itself.
Now, power up the AirPort Exteme and let it run for 2-3 minutes
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Connect an Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the AirPort Express
Click on the AirPort Exteme, then click Continue to follow the guided setup tp configure the AirPort Extreme.  You can use the same wireless network name, password, etc that you used before, or set up a new name and password, etc.

    Absolutely.
However, quoting from ASC contributor Pondini's excellent Time Machine FAQ:

You can get the drop down list by either right-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears.
If you want the drop-down arrow you can add it with the Back/forward dropmarker add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker

  • Sync to more then one computer

    Hello,
this may sound like a silly question, but I was wondering if you can sync the iPhone to more then one computer.
I have a laptop, and a iMac, both are synced to keep each others content merged and up to date.
I want to get some of the music which is on both locations on my iPhone. in the photos and music areas .
    can this be done?

No, not for music. The phone can only be synced to ONE music library, but contacts, calendars, and ohotos can be synced to multiple computers easily (Windows, Mac, or both, doesn't matter).
I think it's possible to copy the files form one of your computers to the other (almost like you would do if you got a new computer and were transfering your music library to the new one) to consolidate your library all on one machine.

  • How do you use more then one computer for your Ipod??

One of my computers died and I want to still use iTunes to get more music but I don’t want to erase what I have on my iPod now. I need to use a different computer with out erasing all the music I have now?? HELP

If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to a different iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Using remote with more then one computer.

Can i use remote with different computers? It works fine on mine but if i try to use it with another computer in the house it doesn't show up in itunes.

If you want to connect and use an iPod (other than a shuffle) on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply.
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
Note: When changing from automatic to manual, check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. "Don't" uncheck Sync Music in the Music tab, it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting, if you uncheck it without setting the iPod to manual first you'll erase all the songs from your iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on your desktop or check this link: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Using more then one computer but only see new songs on one computer

I have my itunes on both my home computer and my work computer and when I purchase new music on my home computer it doesnt show up on my work computer. How can I see the music on both?

*I purchase new music on my home computer it doesnt show up on my work computer. How can I see the music on both?*
If you want to have your purchases on more than one computer you have to copy them from the computer they are purchased on. When you purchase something it is downloaded to the computer you are logged into at the time, purchases don't simply appear on ever computer you choose to use. There are various methods to copy purchases between computers, CD-R, iPod, USB stick etc, you can read more at this llink: iTunes for Windows: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
You can have up to 5 computers authorised at any one time to play iTunes purchases: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • Can't have more then one computer online on same network

Hi there, came across a weird issue. I have a macbook pro, I wiped my iMac and brought it as a gift for my parents. I wanted to demonstrat how we can use ichat. I created an account for my parents and have my own. However, only one computer can be logged on at a time on our network. However at my place when I was working on the iMac, both could be logged in no problem. The only difference here at ther place is I have a aiport Extreme Base Station. Would this be causeing it. Thanks

    Hi,
In any router you can set how many Computers or devices can be linked or use it to access the internet.
How it is done can vary and there could be various options accessible on one device.
This is an older firmware for a Base Station but I am sure you can follow.
    Uploaded with Skitch!
This is the Internet Tab/Icon at the top and the Internet Connection tab
The top part is how the Base Station connects to any Modem (uplink)
The red Box bit is what it is doing to the LAN side.  Share an Public IP is in fact DHCP to the LAN
The DHCP Tab set the IP range (192.168.xxx.xxx or 10.0.1.xxx and so on) and the Limits of that range (i.e 1 to 254 IP addresses)
    Uploaded with Skitch!
You could limit the range to 1 IP
I actually do this on my router so that I know it is limited to the 2 wifi computers and the 4 phones.
You will notice that the Base Station will get the IP of 192.168.1.1 in this case.
That also leaves IPs 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.100 "spare" and along with those above .200  til the end of the range (255).
The Mac can then be set to do "Manually with DHCP" and use a Static Address (Using an IP in the "spare" areas).
You will also notice that there is a box where known computer or devices can have their IP listed so they always get the same IP.  (reservations)
Using a limit scope of IP addresses and this can also exclude "newcomers"  as there may not be any "free" spaces in the usable range.
    Now...
If the first Pic is set to anything but Share an IP then it is most likely that the Base Station is not doing DHCP to the LAN and the computer is set up to use a Static (Manually) set address.
One option is "Bridge (Off) Mode" which is DHCP Off  (I forget what the other option is)
This may Limit how many computers can acces the base Station (Particularly if visitors are set to "Using DHCP" in System Preferences > Network > TCP tab in the Advanced button)
    PPPoE
In the top pic the connection Uplink might be using PPPoE
This can also be "passed on" to another device,  which may be the Computer, which in turn would isoslate any other computer joining the LAN.
Hope that give you enough clues to find out what he has set
