Can I back up my iphone 4 while it is in recovery mode?

I was trying to update my phone to ios7 and it got stuck in recovery mode. I don't have it backed up anywhere because my computer was unintentionally destroyed. Is there any way to back it up while it's in recovery mode on another computer? I can use a separate profile on my wife's computer, so I don't think getting it over written by another person's iTunes account will be a problem...

If it's in Recovery mode it's usually too late to back it up. No harm in trying, but if it doesn't appear in iTunes the answer is no.
Were you backing up to iCloud? If so you can restore from that.
The upgrade instructions warn you to make a backup.

  • How do i get my photos back, if I didn't back up my iPhone 5 and now its in recovery mode after updating to iOS 8.0.2?

How do i get my photos back, if I didn't back up my iPhone 5 and now its in recovery mode after updating from iOS 8.0.1 to iOS 8.0.2?

In you case, the only way is to use data recovery app to get back your lost photos, so the chance is uncertain. It depends on how smart the app it's. The good news is that most of the apps allow you to try them out. You can test them out by yourself. The steps are:
Install data recovery app on your computer
connect your iPhone and allow the app scan iphone
    display scanning result
choose local folder to store recovered items
You can choose to recover your photos from local disk, iTunes backup or icloud.  More details can be found out here.

    No.

  • How can you back up ipad if itunes only recognizes it is recovery mode?

I can't upgrade iOS because iPad (original) is only recognized as a camera, or as an iPad in recovery mode, which erases everything since 2011. iMac running 10.6.8 and latest iTunes (10)

If the iPad is already in recovery mode, then you have to restore it first - then you can restore from a backup - assuming that you have synced with iTunes on your computer previoulsy and you do have a backup.

  • Can't back up my iPhone???

    Hi,
So I am trying to back up my iPhone 5.
I have an old laptop that is rather useless - my iPhone was originally backed up to this about a year ago.
I now really really need to back up my iPhone again as have completely run out of storage and want to secure my photos.
My old laptop seems to have deleted iTunes!!!
My new laptop  correctly says that my iPhone has never been backed up to this computer but then when I want it to back it up says it can't back up my iPhone because previous back up is corrupt and I must delete the previous back up??? Which makes no sense!
Really need to back it up because I have no storage, want to secure the photos I have on it and haven't even been able to download iOS 7 yet because of the lack of space!!
    Any help appreciated!!

You can import the Photos and videos following thie article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083.
Also, if you use iCloud and the Contacts option is turned on in Settings > iCloud, your contacts should be saved. You can make sure by going to icloud.com and viewing them. Any purchases, if you can use itunes in other ways besides to back up, Trasnfer all your purchases, and any songs, videos, apps, etc can be trasnfered to iTunes to be sycned back to the device. Check yoru iCloud storage though by going to Settings > iCloud > Storage and back up > Manage Storage to see as well. You may have to uninstall iTunse and re-install iTunes.

  • HT4946 Can I back up my iPhone 4S to my ipad 3 (64 gb)? I do not have a computer. I deleted pictures from my iPhone and added then to the ipad, but now I don't have enough space in iCloud to backup either device. Why not?

Can I back up my iPhone 4S to my ipad 3 (64 gb)? I do not have a computer running Mountain Lion. Our desktop still runs Tiger, so I purchased the 3rd generation iPad with 64 gb thinking it had had plenty of room to backup my iPhone photos. I used a camera connection kit and transferred about 1100 old photos from my camera roll on my iPhone to my ipad.  I then deleted pictures from my iPhone and now my camera roll has only 357 photos. However, in the Settings, under "About" it says I have 2147 photos. Why? I only have a total of 216 photos in all my albums. However, now I don't have enough space in iCloud to backup either device. Why not?  Any help, any advice, appreciated please! I spent a long time on the phone with Apple today and they couldn't solve the problem.

iCloud only give so much space for free storage, then if you exceed the limit of 5gb you have to pay for additional storage.

  • HT1414 My backup became corrupt. I had to erase it. Now, I can't back up my iPhone! HELP!!

I am unable to back up my phone. I purchased a new phone and some how the old phone and the new phone's back ups merged or corrupted each other. After restoring the old one, I was unable to back up the new one. I searched online for a solution. I was told to delete the corrupted back up. I did. Now I still can't back up my iphone 4S. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

A couple of things to check:
Go to settings, general, use side switch. Is it set for rotation lock or mute? If mute, slide the side switch the other direction.
Double tap the home button, slide the task tray to the right, check the volume level there and the rotation lock icon on the left.

  • HT201269 itunes can't back up the iphone because an error occurred

itunes can't back up the iphone because an error occurred????????? HOW CAN I FIX THIS THANKS

Well I think most people here are having a power issue and NOT a software App problem. I was suffering the same problem and after exhausting every possible conflict tisuue I went and read the specifications on USB ports from V2 to V3  So I suspect it's because slowly Apple has increased the demands on you USB power port and therefore the extra "amp" draw is causing the Apple error message.
If you're using an older Mac or PC with USB 2.0 you are probalby having the your iPhone drop out when ask to back up. So here's the solution upgrade your system with  a USB card, or buy an old fashion "Y" splitter that take 2 USB ports and merges them into one. This was used many years back when Hard Drives were USB powered but one port wasn't enough. So they gave you these "Y" cables that did the job.
Now Apple does STINK for not being more forthright with this informaton letting many suffer this problem. I love my iPhone 5 but it'll probably be my last Apple product. I just don't understand why you're asked to pay so much more and little things like this get buried and kept from it's users.
So that's what fixed mine... I hope it helps you all.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Use the Deauthorize All command documented in this article, or if it isn't an option, the 'contact iTunes Store support' link at the bottom of it.

  • I can not back up my iphone because it is locked and I can not remember the code

I can not back up my iphone because it is locked and I can not remember the code

You're out of luck, then. Either that is not the computer it's set up to sync with, or the passcode was set AFTER the last time you synced, as Lawrence tried to explain.
You're going to lose your data.
