Can I backup 100+ iPads to a RAID server?

Hello all,
We have a client of ours that currently has ~100 iPads that are given to school children. I have been given the task of figuring out how to backup all of these devices to a new RAID server they purchased.
It has something like 4TB of storage so that's not the issue. I know you can use iCloud for individual iPads but that becomes hard to manage.
Is there a way to do this or are we just soaring in the clouds? (pun intended)
Any help is appreciated...

  • How can I backup my iPad to another iPad backup on my same account.  They're both listed on my list of backups, but it won't let me choose to backup to the one I want on my other iPad which I no longer have.  But I specifically want the pictures

How can I backup my iPad to another iPad backup I have on my same iCloud account.  The old one is totally gone.  Both backups are listed on my iCloud account. So is there any way I can backup the one I have now to the other one.  I really just want the pictures that are in the old backup.  I have tried resetting and erasing all settings and data on the one I still have, but when I go to restore by iCloud;  it only gives me the choice of restoring the same iPad.  Then in iCloud>storage>backup, I'm still not able to choose which backup to backup to.  I've even tried deleting the backup to the iPad I still have, then resetting all setting and data on the iPad, hoping that in resetting up the iPad it would give me the option to backup to my old iPad.  But it doesn't.  It still has memory of the backup of my newer iPad.
    I JUST WANT THE PICTURES!!!
    Thank you!!!

You now need to get your pictures back! The similar to you, after I updated my iPad Mini, I can't get my some files on device. I tried many ways, fortunately, I got a tool from http://tinyurl.com/Data-Recovery-iPhone to help me recover lost files easily! It supports iPhone, iPad, iPod, etc iOS devices!

  • Can I backup my Ipad directly to Time Capsule

Is there a way to backup an Ipad without connecting directly to a Mac or PC?

can I backup my iPad directly to Time Capsule?
    In a word, no.
The iPad backs up to iTunes on your Mac or PC. Then, the Mac backs up in turn using Time Machine to the Time Capsule.
Your other option is to backup the iPad using iCloud.
See this Apple support document for complete info on iOS backups:

  • HT5163 How can I backup my iPad Air?

How can I backup my iPad Air using iTunes??

Connect the iPad to your computer and follow this article:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    Use iTunes
You can use iTunes to back up and restore your content on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Note that iTunes and iOS do not support installing backups of newer versions of iOS onto devices using earlier versions of iOS.
    Back up
To back up the content on your iOS device, follow these steps:
Make sure your computer has the latest version of iTunes.
Connect your iOS device to your computer.
Choose File > Devices > Back up.
If you're using iTunes 10.7 or earlier, right-click the device from the list and choose Backup Now.
You can also back up by syncing your iOS device with your computer. When you use iTunes to sync, backing up is the first step.

  • I want to update my ipad into ios5 how can i backup my ipad apps and song?

please help me how can i backup my ipad apps and songs thank you...

To update to iOS 5.0.1 you need iTunes 10.5 on your computer. When you've got iTunes 10.5 installed then connect your iPad to it and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases - that will copy off your apps and iTunes bought music, films (not rentals if they were bought directly on the iPad), tv show, ibooks, but it won't copy off music bought from other stores or music copied from your own CDs (if they are no longer on your computer then you will need to find a third-party program that can copy them off the iPad).
You should also backup the device (right-click the iPad 'device' and select 'back up'), and copy off any important documents, files, notes etc (e.g. by email, the file sharing section at the bottom of the Apps tab in iTunes, wifi, whatever the apps that you use support) - the update process should backup and restore the content but it's best to be safe.
If iTunes doesn't prompt you to update to iOS 5.0.1 on your iPad, then with your iPad connected to and selected on the left-hand side of it, then on the Summary tab on the right-hand side click the Check For Updates button.

  • Can I backup one iPad to another temporarily and then restore them both at a later time?

My older son is autistic and is non-verbal.  He uses his iPad to communicate with people around him.  I need to put his iPad into the shop to get the screen repaired.  I have made backups of both, my iPad and his.  Can I restore my iPad using his backup to make mine look like his, so he can borrow mine while his is in the shop, and then when his is repaired, restore mine to my backup?  Both iPads are iPad 2, and both have the latest IOS.  Both are also 64 GB.
    Thank you for the help.

If you have a computer, yes you can do that. You can't back them up to each other though.
Using a computer (presuming you set it up with one, if you didn't then it gets trickier), back up yours. then go into the settings, reset, erase all content and settings, which puts it back to being straight out of the box. Hook his up, do a full back up. Unplug it. Plug yours back in and set yours up, and when you have the choice to set up as new or restore from backup, choose that and his data will clone onto yours.
Take his in, when you get it back, it should be wiped, restore it from the backup of his and you can then wipe yours and restore yours from the backup
But how are you getting it fixed? If it's going to an apple store and you're getting an out of warranty replacement, you won't need to do that because you'll take it in, pay the fee, walk out with the replacement and you can then restore that one from the backup, so you'd have no need to juggle the data.....unless you're mailing it in and it'll take a few days, etc.

  • Can I backup my iPad with Time Capsule

I have recently set up my new TC and need to know if it can be configured to automatically backup my iPad. I rarely use anything other than my iPad.

No. An iPad cannot backup to a TC. iTunes backs up the iPad. Time Machine will backup your iTunes folder and all other relevant folders to the TC.

applications , but when I start the restore by ITurnes appears a message that the I will lose the applications and I will need to bay other time my applications.
    This is true?
    Regards.

Did you have iCloud photo stream turned on for photos?  If you did, then you can view your photos at iCloud.com.  If you can verify that they are all there, you can do the factory reset.  Once you turn on iCloud again after the reset, the photos won't be on the phone but they will still be in the photo stream which you can view on the device.  You should be able to copy the photos down to the computer from iCloud.  On an Apple Mac computer, iPhoto can view photo stream and you can download photos there too.
Personally, with syncing issues with iTunes, I prefer to use an app called PhotoSync (which is an app in the App Store, Mac App Store, and available from the developer's website for Windows PC's.  This App (once turned on for both devices) lets you send photos back and forth within wifi.

  • Can I backup my iPad through iCloud going back one month?

I have purchased an App called Book Crawler which is a databese in which I have entered and commented on all the ebooks I have plus, genre, price, description, etc and also my personal collection of hard back and paperback books.  A new version of Book Crawler came out and I received a notification letting me know I had to update this App.  I did update it and now all my data is gone.  Is there a way to get a backup of the data from about a month ago from my iCloud backup?

I don't have an active data plan on my iPad so I can't check mine to see if iCoud should be there.  I suspect is doesn't need to be.
Are you trying to back up your iPad to iCloud, or sync your data with iCoud?  (Backing up and syncing are two different things.)
If you are trying to sync your calendar with iCloud, make sure you are signed into your account in Settings>iCloud and that Calendars is turned on.  If it is, check icloud.com from your computer to see if your chalend is there, and if it reflects recent changes made to your calendar on your iPad.

  • Can I backup my ipad without having the password?

I have an ipad 3. Some time ago the glass broke so I started using my wifes ipad.  I finally got around to fixing it but now I don't remember the password (I tried usual suspects, but now I have to wait an hour between each new try).  I know how to restore, but that will wipe all the data (I don't have backups of this device on this machine).
What I'd like to do is a backup of the device, THEN restore as new.  That way, I know I'll at least still have my data (lots of photos) in that saved backup for whenever I can remember the password.  But at least I won't have to rememinber it NOW to use it.  Basically I don't mind doing a system wipe and having all my data lost if I know there is an image of it on my machine that I migth be able to get into somehow/someway.
So is there a way to do a backup without knowing the password?  Either using iTunes or another app?
Bonus question:  If I do a "restore", what iOS version gets restored?  Does it check for the latest or?  I ask because this iPad doesn't have iOS7 and I don't really want it (I'd rather keep 6.x that's on it)
    Thanks in advance!

deggie:  It seems I haven't sync'd it with this PC before becase the only options iTunes gives me is to enter the password first so I can access it.  Although it's been a while since I've used it (its an ipad 3, got it pretty close to launch, broke the glass, and have used my wifes ipad 2 since), I'm pretty sure this is the same PC as when I was using it so I was pretty suprised that it wouldn't see it as mine.  Unless my iTunes is now set to (only?) work with my iphone and my wifes ipda?
So I don't want to restore as that'll wipe all my data forever (and I really don't want iOS 7.1.1)

  • Can I backup my iPad and my iPhone automatically too?

Hi, I was wondering if I can backup my iPhone 4S and iPad 2 in the time capsule, as well as my iMac. Thanks.

No, iOS devices backup to iTunes on the computer which is then backed up by TM onto the TC.. or you can backup to iCloud.

  • I can't backup my iPad to my computer so I can't update to iOS 5

I have an iPad and I still can't update to iOS 5 since it came out. The original computer that my iPad would sync to is gone and I authorized my new computer but i never checked the music box and video box and app box so it doesn't sync but to back my stuff up to update, I need to sync but when I check the box to sync my music or videos exc.. it says all my music will be deleted and replaced with the music from my library but...there is no music or apps or videos or podcast in my library. and I do not want to lose my music and apps there are a ton of them. Any recommendations into fixing this problem?

Transfer Purchase from the iPad to the computer.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes. Right click on the iPad name on the left sidebar of iTunes and select Transfer Purchase. That will put all of the iPad purchased content into the iTunes library.
