Can I batch process? I need identical effect processing of multiple video files

I have just joined Creative Cloud, so these are very basic questions.....sorry.
I shoot videos of live bands using two cameras, so I usually end up with around 25 separate songs per show and 50 separate files (2 cams, two files per song). All the files are: 1920x1080 resolution, 23.976p frame rate, Pro Res 422 codec.
I currently edit in FCPX and color correct in DaVinci Resolve.
Because of low light conditions, I often need to use the effect Neat Video to remove noise. However, FCPX doesn't like Neat Video: freezes up, will restart rendering sometimes, etc.
So, I need a way to take the color-corrected files from Resolve and process with Neat Video, then import them into FCPX for multi-cam editing. (If Premiere Pro handles Neat Video well, then I may switch from FCPX  to Premiere Pro and do it all there.........but I need time to learn Premiere Pro).
So I decided to try After Effects for this. I just tested some files in AE and the Neat Video processing went well.
However, I need to batch process the files if possible. Currently for each file I am:
(1) Setting up a Composition
(2) Adding the Neat Video effect to the file
(3) Using the Neat Video window to adjust settings
(4) Setting the render settings
With my approach I will have to set up 50 separate Compositions.
Questions:
(1) Can I batch process all 50 files, with one set of settings? (I tried using multiple files in one composition, but AE only rendered out the top file).
(2) Can I tell AE that I want the render settings to be the same as the imported files (resolution, frame rate, etc.), rather than having to enter the render settings each time? I just want the rendered files to be identical to the original files, except for Neat Video processing.
Thanks for your help.

I don't think Mylenium understood you. You need to not only bring each of 50 clips into it's own Comp but then you need to apply an effect (Neat Video) to each one before going out to the Render Queue... right?
Here's what I would do. Import all 50 clips into your project. Select all of them and drag to Comp button (on the bottom of the Project panel) or right click - "New Comp from Selection". In the dialog that pops up selct "Single Composition", use dimensions from the clip of your choosing, select "Add to Render Queue" and select "Sequence Layers". Open the Comp and select all the layers (they may already be selected), apply the default Neat Video Effect to all of them (or apply it to one, tweak it, select all the other layers and copy/paste it).
Now download this script...
http://www.redefinery.com/ae/view.php?item=rd_RenderLayers
In After Effects go to File/Scripts/Run Script File and choose the rd_RenderLayers script. Make sure you are happy with the Render Module settings and the file naming and off you go.
You'll have all 50 clips in 1 Comp, with one place to copy effects and then each layer gets output back to an individual file.

  • Can't batch process metadata since updating to 3.5

    I used to be able to highlight several images in the Library Grid mode, type in a Metadata Label, and that label would be applied to all of the images. Doesn't work any longer. What am I missing? Doesn't work for Keywords either.

    Okay, that worked. Now, I have never seen nor used that "Show Metadata

  • How can I batch process 4 diff image sizes from 1 master?

    Hi there
    What I would like to do is create 4 separate image files of varying sizes (large, medium, small & extra small) from one master image. I would need the ability to name each file individually too, ie. picture1_large, picture1_medium etc
    I have a few thousand files to process so ideally a solution that I didnt have to keep checking on would be preferable. I know I can create a batch process for one size but its creating the four diff sizes in a batch which im finding  difficult to work out.
    any help would be much appreciated
    Jim

    Simply drag the entire folder through Bridge—or even individual files—the invisible xmp files containing your adjustments will automatically and invisibly travel along with the image files, as long as you do it within Bridge, not through the OS.
    Otherwise, you would need to set your Mac OS to always make invisible files visible, and you don't want that hassle.
    Just use Bridge to move files around or to copy them to a new folder.

  • Can fireworks batch processing work as a background process?

    Hi,m
    I have a simple problem.  Whenever I am batch processing a large number of images (fireworks cs4 windfows 7 64bit) fireworks steals focus every time it starts work on a new image so I can't work on other things while it works.  This is frustrating since I am working on a powerful mulkticore computer and need to crack on while fireworks does its thang.
    Is there a way to tell fireworks to work in the background and stay quiet until I go back to it?
    Jim

    You speak of a problem that exists in CS4 and is fixed in CS5. Unfortunately, there is no easy fix for CS4...
    1) On Windows XP Professional, if you use a tiny app by Microsoft, called "TweakUI", you can set a setting that is called "Prevents applications from stealing focus". Once the setting is active, Fireworks CS4 (and older versions) cannot steal focus in WinXP, no matter what -- including batch processing.
    2) But for Windows 7, there exists no such app, so TweakUI is not an option... You may try a trial of Fireworks CS5 and see if it works better for you; or you can try to find an app, similar to TweakUI, but for Windows 7.
    Hope this helps!

    Can't help you with CC, but you cannot change files types by merely changing the extension, regardless of program or version.

  • Batch processing of multiple test stations

    Hi All,
    Bit of a complex one here (for me anyway!) that I want to bounce off you clever people to see if can aid me in any way.
    I am about to develop a system which uses a 6 UUT position(so 6 UUTs are held on a wheel) device which spins around. There are two test PCs and hardware at points on the system (say at position 1 and 4, although the idea is to perhaps add more at the other empty stations) and the wheel is moved around at set intervals to present the UUT to the test station (approx 2s, but this can be varied depending upon processing time). UUTs are fed onto and off of the wheel at station 6 (ie when the UUT has been around stations 1-5 it is pulled off and a new one is put in its place).
    The two test stations will be using TestStand and the remote engine to sequence tests with LabView code modules and due to the set movement time of the wheel I will be doing 'hands on' tests when the UUT is at a test station and I will be processing the test data for that UUT when it has moved around (although obviously I will then be taking measurements from the next UUT on the wheel).
    I was thinking of using the batch processing model for this task and was going to have 6 UUTs running at the same time. I can clock the UUTs around using Labview and have wait/processing points while that UUT is not being physically tested.
    My questions are:
    1) My process is going to be contiunous (it will run 24:7) as the 6 test sockets run, each one step in front of the other, can they independently produce test reports and then be restarted for the next UUT which has been introduced to the wheel? I dont want the traditional 'Run Test, get results, re run test, get results'. I want the process to be continuous, so results files will be popping out every 2 seconds as a UUT has moved around all of the stations and dumped in the PASS/FAIL bin
    2) Is it possible to have an array of common parameters between the batch processes or will they all have seperate parameters.
    3) Kind of linked to 2, but I assume that if each batch is running in a seperate thread that the data they share to labview will be seperate to each test socket. There will only be a single instance of each test running at one time. Is there multiple sequence contexts (one for each test socket?) or is it one big one?
    4) Am i using the right approach? Test Stand is definitely the thing for this customer and I feel it will help us, but am I going to be using in the right way?
    Thanks in advance
    Marlon

    Let me answer question 4 first since it will effect my answers to questions 1-3.
    4) It sounds to me like you should really be using the parallel model instead of the batch model. The batch model was really intended for things that need to be tested as a group. In otherwords, a tray of 6 items that all start being tested and complete being tested together, and then a completely new tray of another 6 items is tested after that. What you have really is more of a set of 6 independent test sockets running in parallel with some synchronization involved because of the interdependencies and that is more what the parallel model is designed for.
    1) If you are using the parallel model than the answer to this is yes. You can set things up so that each testsocket writes its reports to a separate file completely independently from the other test sockets. This is also kind of true for the batch model, but in the case of the batch model, all test sockets must wait for each other to complete before the next batch of uuts can be tested and this does not sound like what you really want.
    2) Yes, but there are several ways you can accomplish this. One way would be to use file globals for your mainsequence file and edit the sequence file properties setting for the file to share file globals between executions. But because you are running remote executions you will then have to go to the additonal step of passing the data that you want the remote sequences to have as parameters to the remote sequence. You will need to pass the data as parameters rather than use the share file globals setting for the remote sequences on multiple machines because that setting only works for executions that are all running on the same machine. Passing parameters however is pretty easy to do and to use on the other end. Also I'd like to add that it might be possible for you to run everything on one computer. I'm not sure what your reason for having multiple computers is though.
    3) By batch I'm going to assume you mean test socket (i.e. "each TESTSOCKET is running in a separate thread"). A batch is a group of testsockets. And if you mean testsocket then the answer is yes, you are correct. Each testsocket runs in a separate execution and thus a separate teststand and OS thread. Additionally each will have a completely separate sequence context. However, if you pass the same data as a parameter to all of the sequences (i.e. a set of global variables of some sort), then they will all be able to access that same data. Additionally, you can pass data between threads using synchronization step types such as queues and notifications.
    Hope this helps, if you need more information let me know.

  • Batch Processing and Putting Two files together?

    Hello,
    I'm trying to find out if there is a way, in Photoshop, to automate placing a logo file and border from another file into a set of photos? Basically, I have a folder of, let's say, 4x6 images, and I have a file that has two layers, a thin transparent border layer, and a layer housing the logo. I would like to find out if it's possible to automate the process where I can batch a lot of files to put this file (or the two layers) onto the original image, then save and close and go on to the next file. Any ideas how to accomplish this? Thanks!
    Regards,
    Dave

    Here is a simple script I made a while back that allows you to place one of two different logo files on the image, depending whether the image is upright or horizontal in orientation.
    All you need is to put you two logo files in a folder and tell the script which folder they are in. After that, when you run the script, it will place the appropriate logo file onto you image depending on the orientation. I used "C:\\MyLogoA.tif" and "C:\\MyLogoB.tif" for this script.
    You can run this script from a batch process.
    var doc = app.activeDocument; // This defines the active document
    var width = doc.width.value; // This is the width of the original image
    var height = doc.height.value; // This is the height of the original image
    // Call the placeLogo function
    if(width>height){
    placeLogo("C:\\MyLogoA.tif");
    }else{
    placeLogo("C:\\MyLogoB.tif");
    // This is the placeLogo function
    function placeLogo(path)

    var id42 = charIDToTypeID( "#Pxl" );
    desc9.putUnitDouble( id41, id42, 0.000000 );
    var id43 = charIDToTypeID( "Vrtc" );
    var id44 = charIDToTypeID( "#Pxl" );
    desc9.putUnitDouble( id43, id44, 0.000000 );

  • Is there a way to batch process color corrected RAW files to tif files?

    I got over 160 color corrected RAW files from my photographer when I thought I was getting TIf or PSD files. I need to put them into an indesign doc to send out for printing. Is there a way to convert all of these in one fell swoop without messing up the work that has already been done? I didn't allow in my timing to save each one individually since i didn't know I was going to need ot do this. I am really unfamiliar with batch processing, so no idea how to best go about this, or if I even can. Please help. I am working in Photoshop CS6. version 13.06 x 64

    An easy way is to open Bridge, select the images then click on Tools/Image processor.  You can then save as jpg, psd, or tiff.

  • Batch Processing, Reverb Tails & Video Tracks

    Hi Adobe. Love Audition CS6 ! Good Stuff !
    But,
    Really really need to be able to add the reverb and delay effect tails on to files while batch processing!
    It's pretty much the only thing that stops me dead in my tracks while adding reverb and room ambience or any sort of delay effect on to vocals. Currently If I want to have anything with a reverb tail I need to manually add sielence to each file. when you have 1000s of variations this is not ideal.
    A little tick box on the delay or reverb plugin would be awesome.
    Also how come there is a limit to only 1 video per multi-track session? Protools does this too (unless you pay for the production toolkit) but Reaper and Ableton Live don't. This is a bit of a pain as sometimes your working to several videos and it's great to be able to do it all in the one session for the project.
    I really don't understand this limitation.
    A better system for arranging editing and renaming presets and favorites would be really cool too. It's a bit of a pain not being able to make category folders for those and put what you end up making related to projects in there. Or even build up a collection of good working types such as vocals, instrument settings ect...(Like iZotope Alloy does currently in it's preset manager)
    I hope you consider these as options in a future release.
    Cheers !

  • Batch Processing doesn't update files in Premiere Pro CS5.5

    Hi,
    I'm not sure if this question should be under 'Audition' or 'Premiere Pro', but I'm selecting a large range of audio clips (from a wedding ceremony) and sending to Audition from Premiere (selecting 'Edit in Adobe Audition')
    When the clips appear in the files section of Audition I select 'Batch Process', drop them in and make the batch process start. When everything is finished and the files are automatically saved, I head over to Premiere to see if the wav's have updated - but nothing. Everything is exactly the same.
    Any help would be great?
    I'm not adding any prefix's etc to the filename, and I'm selecting 'overwrite existing files' and 'same location as original files'.
    Cheers,
    Thomas

    Hi Durin,
    Sorry for the delay, had a couple of deadlines to meet and ended up doing the hundred-or-so clips one-by-one in audition to get it done.
    That's the issue exactly, I go back to Premiere after doing the batch process (and they all auto-save) but Premiere doesn't update the waveform or in fact the audio doesn't show the changes I've just made. The strange thing is that if I do them one by one, then Premiere recognizes the changes and I can get on with it.
    The steps I take are: 1) Drop the clip in the timeline, do a bunch of editing (occasionally nesting and multi-cam editing a sequence). 2) Right click and Edit in Audition 3) Open Batch Process in Audition 4) Drag drop all the files just sent to Audition from Premiere, into the Batch Process section 5) Run batch process 6) Go back to Premiere and see if it's updated in the timeline. I wait, and wait, but nothing. Everytime.
    I'm thinking it's something simple I've clicked, but have no idea what. Either that or it's some sort of bug issue.
    I will be upgrading to CS6 creative cloud soon, hopefully that'll fix it.
    If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Otherwise, thanks for trying.

    Is the code you told me about (above), is it necessary for older browsers such as ie8? I thought you were saying it was for the HTML5 tags and I wasn't sure I'd bother with it. If it helps people with ie8, I probably should add it.
    I include it (or a link to a localized copy of the file) by default now.
    To truly support the ancient browsers out there, you'd likely need something like...
    <video width="500" height="500">
        <source src="video.mp4" type="video/mp4" />
        <source src="video.ogv" type="video/ogg" />
        <source src="video.webm" type="video/webm" />
        <object width="500" height="500">
        <param name="movie" value="video.swf" />
        <embed src="video.swf" width="500" height="500"></embed>
        </object>
    </video>
    I don't bother with a Flash fall back for old browsers though. I just put in text letting the viewer know they're behind the times pretty severely, like...
    <video width="500" height="500">
        <source src="video.mp4" type="video/mp4" />
        <source src="video.ogv" type="video/ogg" />
        <source src="video.webm" type="video/webm" />
        <p>Your browser is horribly, helplessly and hilariously outdated. Visit <a href="firefox.com" target="_blank">www.firefox.com</a> to download something better, more secure, modern, worthwhile, etc, etc...</p>
    </video>
    For junky old browsers that can't see any HTML5 (which the <video> and <audio> tags are), they get a text message to get something better and a link to go there.
