  • What Nokia phones with physical numberpad have the...

    Can someone tell me which Nokia phones that have a phyisical numberpad/keyboard have the free full versions of the Ovi maps with satellite turn by turn navigation
    It's for the wife - she can get used to touch screen - hates Android and Apple + loves Nokia!
    I've searched and am unsure - there seem to be some models that in some specs have the navigation and in other simply don't (or not explicitly stated)! I can't remember the exact model names now
    Any pointers to the correct phones would be great
    + I would add that it doesn't have to be a 'smart phone' - I'mjust after the turn by turn navigation (and be able to make calls of course!)
    Thanks
    Omar

    @omarm2
    Be aware that any of the S60 3rd FP2 devices such as C5-00 or E72 although having free voice navigation are limited to Ovi Maps v3.04 with slightly less detailed map data than devices able to use v3.06 & 3.08.

  • Nokia phones shared calender and task database

    Hi.. all;
    I have very strange question ... is there any body can provide me list of Nokia phones shared calendar and task database and another list with Nokia phones not sharing the DB of calendar and tasks ..
    Regards

    SyncML with Google supports only contacts Synchronisation with Symbian phones. You could've added this in the previous thread insted of starting a new one. Ovi sync is the only way now to sync contacts, calender, notes.

  • HT204368 iPhone 5 Bluetooth not working. Nor can it find my iPad, and the iPad can't find it, but can find my old Nokia phone.

    New iPhone 5 can't find any Bluetooth devices. I have reset the network settings without any luck. I have an iPad which can't find the iPhone but can find my old Nokia phone on Bluetooth. I want to use Bluetooth with my hearing aids, which work fine with the Nokia.
    In terms of what is happening, when I turn on Bluetooth, I get "searching" under the devices section but no devices are found. Grey Bluetooth icon beside battery life icon.
    Anyone solved this problem?

    if your phone has an older BT firware, i dont think it will ever be updated, i have not seen nokia doing that, i doubt nokia will start doing that, just like S60...
    I have not yet seen any nokia phones with BT 2.1 in fact the only nokia devices with BT 2.1 are 2 headsets that are not even released yet, the BH-103 Stereo HS and BH-703...
    and any nokia phone having A2DP does not mean it will support BT 2.1 and/or be able to upgrade to it...

  • How can I transfer music by Bluetooth in N9 nokia

    I don't know how to transfer music to other people by Bluetooth, and also how to use the video cam in my nokia N9, please help me.
    thanks

    Hey sonia9hp,
    Welcome to the nokia discussion forum and thank you for your contribution. You can use Bluetooth to send pictures, videos, and other content created by you to your friend's compatible phones and devices and to your computer.
    You can have several Bluetooth connections active at a time. For example, if you are connected to a compatible headset, you can also send files to another compatible device at the same time.
    Select and hold the item, for example, a picture, and select Share > Bluetooth.
    Select the device to connect to. Bluetooth devices within range are displayed.
    If the other device requires a passcode, enter the passcode. The passcode, which you can define yourself, must be entered in both devices. The passcode in some devices is fixed. For details, see the user guide of the device.
    The passcode is valid only for the current connection.
    Tip:
    If you connect to a device frequently, to set it as authorised, select  and Bluetooth. Make sure Bluetooth is activated. Select Bluetooth devices and the device, and activate Connect automatically. When a device is authorised, you do not have to enter the passcode every time.
    Besides taking pictures with your phone, you can also capture your special moments as videos.
    Select .
    To switch from image mode to video mode, if necessary, select .
    To start recording, select . A red record icon is displayed.
    To stop recording, select . The video is automatically saved in Gallery.
    Hope this helps,

  • Bluetooth connection not working on US Nokia phones from J2ME Midlet (MIDP

    Hi All,
    We are developing a J2ME midlet (MIDP 2.0 ,CLDC 1.1)which makes bluetooth connection to other devices.The bluetooth
    connection is working perfectly on indian nokia phones with Airtel as carrier.But when we deploy the same midlet on Nokia E71
    US phone with carrier as AT&T ,the bluetooth connection is not working.The sample code is as follows:
    public void run(){
    try{
    StreamConnection connection = (StreamConnection)Connector.open(btConnectionURL);
    // open an input stream to get some data
    InputStream in = connection.openInputStream();
    byte[] serialData;
    readData = true;
    while(readData == true){
    int lengthavai=0;
    lengthavai = in.available();
    if(lengthavai > 0){
    serialData = new byte[lengthavai];
    int length = in.read(serialData);
    System.out.println("data read: " + new String(serialData));
    dataViewForm.append(new String(serialData));
    in.close();
    connection.close();
    }catch(IOException ioe){
    ioe.printStackTrace();
    when we try to connect on US Phones],the execution hangs at the following line of code:
    StreamConnection connection = (StreamConnection)Connector.open(btConnectionURL);
    No exception is caught.
    Our midlet is not signed.
    In the Forums it is said that the problem is with the unsigned midlet.AS some of the US carriers block the secure API usage
    on Unsigned midlet.
    But our question is, if we buy a code signing certificate from Verisign or Thawte and sign the midlet, will this problem be solved.
    Any other alternative solutions for this ???
    Immediate help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Yash

    You might want to read this before buying a certificate:
    http://javablog.co.uk/2007/08/09/how-midlet-signing-is-killing-j2me/
    It's not my blog, but I pretty much agree with what it says. Unfortunately the network operators can control the access 3rd party trusted certificates have, so even if you sign with Verisign for example, the signed midlet may not have any more privileges than an unsigned midlet, depending on network. They do this so that only midlets signed with one of their own certificates have unrestricted privileges forcing anyone who wants a useful application to buy it from the network instead of downloading an equivalent freeware version from Getjar for example. Some networks are worse than others, so signing your midlet will allow it to work on more phones than an unsigned midlet. I think Verisign have some info on AT&T on their website.
    The whole MIDP specification for security is a joke, IMHO. I don't mind unsigned midlets flashing up a warning once during an application. Writing 20 files, for example, will give 40 security warnings for reading writing data which is ridiculous, as the user obviously either trusts the app or he doesn't. No one runs an app that they only sometimes trust.
    As far as I know the only mobile manufacturer so far to see sense is Sony Ericsson. All of their new phones from Java platform 7 onwards allow unsigned applications access to the file system, bluetooth etc with just one warning when the applications starts.

  • Reading bluetooth GPS data from a Nokia phone

    I have a problem reading data from a MTK bluetooth GPS device from a Nokia phone (7610, Symbian S60).
    I wrote a midlet (my phone supports CLDC 1.0/MIDP 2.0) that create a thread to read data
    from the device (using RFCOMM protocol), the code is:
    package gpsreader.bluetooth;
    import javax.microedition.io.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class BTrxtx implements Runnable {
    private String url = ""; // Connection string to the bluetooth device.
    private boolean canRead; // True if possible to read from device.
    private boolean canWrite; // True if possible to write to device.
    private String btstr = ""; // Last received string.
    private int strCounter;
    private int byteCounter;
    private StreamConnection conn = null;
    private InputStream inputstream = null;
    private OutputStream outputstream = null;

    return btstr;
    private void setBtstr(String s) {
    newStr = true;
    btstr = s;
    public boolean receivedData() {
    return newStr;
    The problem is on method "run" at line:
         i = inputstream.read(); // read one byte at the time.
    after reading some data (usually one NMEA string) read method returns -1,
    and even if I try to close the connection and re-open it, after some other data is read,
    the midlet is terminated by the phone with an error (something like "jes-13c-java-comms@1441adE32USER-CBase 40").
    The GPS receiver is working, since from my PC I am able to connect with a bluetooth USB dongle and read outputs using RFCOMM.
    Thx for any suggestions,
    LB.

    Work around.
    I can not say I solved it, but I managed to get a work around:
    I read in another post that there are some problems in thread handling on Nokia phones, so I rewrote the class so that it runs on the main thread and now it seems to work (I can not update the screen while reading from the device, but this isn't a big issue for me).
    Just in case anyone is interested here is the final code:
    import javax.microedition.io.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class BTBrxtx {
    private String url = ""; // Connection string to the bluetooth device.
    private boolean canRead; // True if possible to read from device.
    private String btstr = ""; // Last received string.
    private int strCounter;
    private int byteCounter;
    private StreamConnection conn = null;
    private InputStream inputstream = null;
    private boolean newStr;
    private String s = "";
    private static final char[] EOL_BYTES = {'\015','\012'};
    public BTBrxtx(String u) {
    url = u;
    canRead = false;
    canWrite = false;
    strCounter = 0;
    byteCounter = 0;
    newStr = false;
    openConn();
    try {
    Thread.sleep(200);

    private void setBtstr(String s) {
    newStr = true;
    btstr = s;
    public boolean receivedData() {
    return newStr;
    Now I call method readInput in the main thread and than use getBtstr to retrieve data.
    I'm still interested to know if someone had similar problems and how they have been solved.
    Thx

  • Gigaframe L81 doesn't play sound in videos shot by Nokia phone. Can Q81 do?

    Hi All.
    My parents have bought Gigaframe L81 photo frame.
    My mother tried to use the photoframe to watch the videos shot by her Nokia phone. And the problem was that no sound was reproduced by the photoframe
    As far as I know, newer Nokia phones shoot videos in the following format
    Video: MPEG4 Video 640x480
    Audio: AAC 48000Hz mono 768Kbps
    When I look at the Gigaframe L80 & L81 features at the off. cite
    http://www.toshiba.eu/photoframe/detailsl80.htm
    I see that it is said to support only Audio: MP3
    At the same time Gigaframe Q80 & Q81 claim to support more sound codecs:
    http://www.toshiba.eu/photoframe/detailsq80.htm
    Audio: MP3, AAC, OGG
    So I have the following questions:
    1) Are Q80 & Q81 actually more superior models than L80 & L81 ? My parents thought that L80 & L81 are better models, since they have a bigger screen. They thought that L80 & L81 should have more features. But it seems that Q80 & Q81 support more sound formats...
    2) Does Q80 & Q81 actually support AAC & support AAC audio streams in MP4 video files ?
    3) How can I know if Toshiba is going to add AAC support to L80 & L81 ? Or maybe my parents should sell their L81 and buy Q81 or something else ?
    My parents are not going to use the software which comes on the CD to convert their videos, because first the software is too difficult for them, the other reason is that it takes time to convert the videos to formats supported by the frame and that means that all benefits from using a frame over a PC are gone...

    Hello yura-v,
    I am a Gigaframe L81 user also.
    I asked the Toshiba Support Team, if there will be released a firmware update or something else.
    They told me no. Toshiba is not going to add AAC support to L80 & L81 at the moment.
    If Q80 & Q81 actually support AAC & support AAC audio streams in MP4 video files, I could not say sure, because I am only an owner of a Gigaframe L81.
    I think the best way is, your parents should buy an Q80 or 81 and test this.
    If this both doesn´t support the AAC streams they could give back the frame within 14 days.
    If they support the AAC they can sell their L81 frame and keep the Q80 or Q81.
    best regards

    I have nokia 5130 xpress music.Why I can't install firefox in my phone.

    Hi 08ik,
    Unfortunately, the Nokia 5130 is a feature phone (a.k.a, a "dumb" phone). Firefox will currently only run on smart phone devices that operated by Android.
    Firefox is compatible with Android 2.1 and above devices with hardware requirements recommending at least 512 MB of RAM.
    You can see a list of all supported devices here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/mobile/platforms/
