the iphone 4 was dropped apple repalced the phone and now the origanl is fixed . Can I use this phone with itunes no problem? I am on the same network carrier so there is no issue there and I understand there is no support from apple etc but will the iphone work with updating , the app store etc on my laptop?
or will the phone just lock up when i plug it in to itunes??

You will have to restore the new iPhone to erase all the data that is still on it. Usually, the seller does this before the transaction. But after you restore the iPhone, you will be able to use it as if you bought it from apple that same day.
Try arranging a meeting with the seller before paying though, just to be sure the thing works fine. If it works fine for him, it will work just as good for you.

There are multiple reasons why the update failed, unless you can provide an error message/code that came up then nodbody will know.
Now your iPhone is in recovery mode and will now need to be connected to a computer with iTunes and restored to factory settings. This will install the update at the same time.
If you have a back up of the iPhone before the issue occurred then after the restore to fqactory settings you can restore the back up to the iPhone. If there was no back up then I'm sorry your data is gone.

Unfortuantely, you can only track the phone if you had set up iCloud and enabled Find My iPhone on it before it was lost or stolen. I don't believe there is anything that Apple can do to locate your phone either.

Wait it out.
Sync the device to the computer it normally syncs with to remove the passcode.
Restore from backup or as new.
Without access to the computer it normally syncs with, your only real option is restore as new.
Keep in mind, pictures can be copied off the device on any computer regardless of the device being locked or not.

Well, it is a requirement in the UK that they be sold unlocked. If you remember when the iPhone was first launched in the UK, all the phones were carrier locked to 02 in an exclusive deal and then they became unlocked when Vodafone, 3 and Orange etc, started to be able to offer the iPhone.
Unfortunately, the US is different, but there are 3 carrier to choose from now with AT&T, Verizon and Sprint. For a few years it was only AT&T. Just works differently out there, depending on networks and agreements with the phone carriers.

You can not buy an iPhone from Apple online in the US unless you have a U.S. issued credit card and a US shipping/billing address.
If you want to physically come to the US, you can buy one at any Apple Store.
The warranty will not be valid outside of the US. It will not work with LTE networks outside of the US. If you need out of warranty service, you will not be able to get it outside of the US. You will not be able to ship the phone to Apple in the US for service. You will have to physically carry it back to the US, or you will have to send it to someone you know in the US to take it in for service.

I have an android phone on AT&T currently, and I am looking to switch to an iPhone 5. My wife has a non-smartphone, and she does not want to switch to another phone. Just use your existing upgrade (if you are eligible) and get the device through AT&T.
Even if your wife's line is eligible for an upgrade, you can use that without affecting her service.
Or as suggested, buy the unlocked version.
The Verizon phone will be locked to Verizon.. there would be no reason to buy it at full retail which would require a Verizon contract with the intent of using it on AT&T.

Was this book downloaded using iBooks, or from another application? If it was from iBooks you will need to install that application to delete it.
