Can i buy from the Canadian iTunes store while in America?

I have a Canadian iTunes card and a Canadian iTunes account. I live in Canada, but I am travelling to the United States tomorrow. Will I be able to purchase from the Canadian iTunes store even though I'm in America???

Yes. I am in the UK and when I travel to the US I can still buy from the UK store. It is where you are resident with a credit card registered not where you are physically.

  • Canadian iTunes account -  Can I buy from the US iTunes store?

I was thinking about getting Apple TV. I checked out the available content in the Canadian iTunes store and it is small for TV series. The US store has all the shows I want to watch. How can I buy from the US store?

Apple seems to know that you are in Canada. If this is from the ip address, then you are out of luck. If it from the CC you opened your Apple account under, then you could always get a US credit card and set up a new account. You'd then be able to buy from the US iTunes store.

  • Can I buy from the UK itunes store if I live in the US?

I live in the US, but want to purchase from the UK itunes store, is that possible?
If not, is there a way to do it?

This is true only the country in which you reside but if you get a uk proxy you will be good

  • HT201303 I am trying to purchase an app from the Canadian itunes store.

How do I go about downloading an app from the Canadian itunes store? can anyone help?

You would have to be inside the borders of Canada AND have a credit card issued from Canada AND have a valid billing address in Canada.

  • HT204411 How can I get a tv show from the Canadian iTunes store from the United States Store?

Ask whomever makes the show to sell it in the U.S Store.

  • Buying from the Danish iTunes store

Let us say that I'm Danish, have a Danish Passport, live in the Danish Kingdom, have a Visa card from a local bank. How come that I can't buy music from the Danish iTunes Store.

have a Visa card from a local bank.
That's probably why. The iTunes Store requires that the credit card be issued by a bank in the country whose store you wish to use, and though the Faroe Islands are titularly part of the Danish Kingdom, they're autonomous and so probably have separate licenses and copyrights as far as the record companies (who mandate all of these restrictions) are concerned. Residents of the Channel Islands have the same problem with the UK download stores.

  • I have a Canadian credit card but a Korean address only. Can I switch to the Canadian iTunes Store to purchase a movie?

I have a Canadian credit card but not a Canadian address. My address is in South Korea. I want to purchase a movie from the iTunes Store, but I cannot currently because there is no Korean iTunes Store. May I switch to the Canadian iTunes Store with a Canadian credit card and a Korean address? Or how can I gain access to the Canadian iTunes Store?

The iTunes Store in a country is intended for use only by that country's residents, and only while they are in the country. To use the iTunes Store in a country you need a credit card (or other card type if acceptable in a country) issued in that country, billed to an address in that country, and also be physically present in that country when using the store.  You are also restricted to waiting 90 days between country changes.

  • Cannot purchase from the Australian iTunes Store while working overseas

I'm an Australian currently working in Papua New Guinea. I tried to make a purchase on the iTunes Store (Windows) and it keeps asking me to verify my credit card Security Code which I did but it tells me "For assistance, please contact iTunes Support". Upon contacting Apple Support, I was told that I have violated the iTunes Store Terms and Conditions and was asked to read http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/sales.html. The two Apple Support representatives I have spoken with refused to tell me what part of the Terms and Conditions I have violated and basically told me to get lost in a polite way.
Now, I find this unacceptable. Firstly, if Apple thinks I have done something wrong then it is Apple's responsibility to tell me what I have done wrong. Secondly, I find it unacceptable that as an Australian, I'm restricted from making purchases from the Australian iTunes Store even that I have a valid Australian billing address, a valid credit card that is issued from Australia.
Is someone in the community able to clarify this?

    I can tell you:
"The iTunes Service is available to you only in Australia, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance."

  • Is there any way someone from Canada can buy from the usa itunes store?

Is this a possibleity with out having a U.S address?
There are lots of things i would love to have access to in the U.S itunes store or even the U.K itunes store
just wondering if there's any way for a canadian to have a u.s itunes tore account?

No, in order to buy from a country's store you need a valid billing address in that country and be in that country when buying from it. You can try requesting that the content that you want be added to the Canadian store, but ultimately it's the content providers (record company, film studio etc) that will need to grant Apple a licence to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • Can I buy a song from the German iTunes Store while in the U.S.?

I'm from the US and have and buy all my music through the iTunes store. However, there's a song I want only available in the Deutchland iTunes store. It's .99 Euro. Anyone tried doing this? Is it possible? And does it equate to around $1.60 or whatever the exchange rate is? Thanks.

It can be done but it's a pain.
I'm a dual Canadian/US citizen. I move back and forth between the two.
To purchase from itunes in more than one country you need more than one account.
I set up my US account while I was in Canada, so you don't need to be in the Germany to buy from Germany. You do need a German itunes gift card and a mailing address in Germany.
I have a legitimate US address, but to the best of my knowledge the address isn't really verified. I'm not suggesting you do anything dishonest, but when you have ties to two countries residency can be a vague concept.
The really annoying part is itunes, and your ipod, will only recognize one account at a time. I have found that when I sync logged into my Canadian account apps purchased from the American store are disabled, even if they were already on the ipod.
Apple's licensing protection is not unbiased, I haven't yet had any problems when I sync logged into the US store.
Personally I think blocking content you've already purchased violates the consumer's rights.

  • Can I buy from the US iTunes if I don't have a US account?

I have an Australian iTunes account and the album I want to buy is only available on the US iTunes store. I get a pop up message saying that my account is only valid for purchases in the Australian Music Store. How can I change this? Is there any way around this? Thanks

In order to buy from another country's iTunes Music Store, you must have either:
    a) a credit card with a billing address in that country, or
    b) a mailing address in that country and a gift certificate or a prepaid card that was bought in that country.
If you cannot fulfill one of these two sets of conditions, you will not be able to purchase from any given country's iTMS. Note that no one in the US could buy a track for you, as Shyguy incorrectly (sorry, Shyguy) stated; tracks are all keyed to the account that purchased them. Nor could they gift that track to you; gifts can only be givin within the same country.
This, BTW, is due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders (who are often completely different from country to country and so all require their own individual negotiations and contracts), not by Apple's choice.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic before you post a question.

  • Can i buy items from the American ITunes store?

I live in Australia and would like to buy an item from the American ITunes store. Is this possible without needing an account for that country?

    No you cannot.
You can ONLY buy from the itunes store of your country of residence as proven by your credit card billing address AND you may ONLY buy while physically inside that country.

  • I want to change from the US iTunes store to the Australian iTunes store but I have to spend all of my iTunes store credit, what the **** can I buy with 60 cents?

I want to change from the US iTunes store to the Australian iTunes store but i have to spend all of my iTunes credit first, what the **** will I spend 60 cents on?  Should I have purchased unwanted music to the exact value to change country?  Why cant I just agree to wipe the credit? it's less than one dollar.  Why can't I just transfer it at going market rates (or even cent for cent) when it is only such a small amount and I would make a profit?  I don't want to start another iTunes account, it will only lead to problems with what I have already purchased.

    You cannot.
You cannot use another countrys itunes store.
You must be physically locates inside the borders of a country to use that countrys itunes store and a credit card issued in that country with a valid billing address in that country.
The owners of the distribution rights of movies/music/etc differ by country.  These distributors decide who can sell their content in that country.
Buy from another source if your countrys itunes store does not carry somehting that you want.
