Can i buy Pages without Keynote?

i have use for Pages; i have no use for Keynote. can i buy just one app without having to pay about $40.00 for a second one i don't want? thanks...

Think about how many people are waiting for a more advanced spreadsheet, and a flat file database ala Appleworks?! I'm sure there are many like me that would love to abandon Appleworks for a much more modern interface.
I will say this, that I like the idea of having all these different applications in ONE WINDOW as Pages has - word processor, page layout, basic photo manipulation, basic spreadsheet, charts, and basic vector graphics. I don't need a seperate spreadsheet, nor would I want the spreadsheet to only work in it's own window. Just add more functions and features to the Table part of the program. And if you only want a spreadsheet, then when you open Pages, just don't use any other part of the program. You could also set up a template that already has a bunch of columns and rows.

I bought an iPad and an iTunes card, I want to buy an application from the Apps store but it only gives me the option of credit card.  How can I buy Pages with my iTunes card to my iPad? thank you

Have you redeemed your iTunes card to an account associated with an Apple ID?
Once you have your iPad associated with an Apple ID AND you have an account with a credit card associated with the same Apple ID AND you have some 'store credit' (from redeeming your iTunes card) then purchases use the store credit before they charge the credit card, so you should be ok!
Personally, I use 'store credit' as a way to monitor whether or not there have been any 'unauthorised' purchases because as soon as the store credit is zero, the security code from the credit card is needed for further purchases!  It does mean that I have sometimes to top up store credit before making a purchase, but 'better safe than sorry'!

  • TS4213 Why can't iPhoto, Pages, Numbers, Keynote and iMovie access my iTunes Library files and Pages, Numbers, Keynote and iMovie access my iPhoto Library files now that I upgraded to '11?

Why can't iPhoto, Pages, Numbers, Keynote and iMovie access my iTunes Library files and Pages, Numbers, Keynote and iMovie access my iPhoto Library files now that I upgraded to '11?
Examples of what is going on:
    1. In Pages, Numbers & Keynote, when I go to the media browser the Audio section reads "Open iTunes to populate this list" even after iTunes has been opened, .xml file has been replaced/repaired, etc  AND Photo section reads "Open iPhoto to see photos from your iPhoto Library in this list" even after iPhoto Library has been replaced and new default library created.
    2. In iMovie, similar thing ... when I go to add photos or music to a movie the iTunes files aren't present and the iPhoto photos are missing with similar messages as in #1.
    3. In iPhoto, similar thing ... when I go to add music to a slideshow it says to "Open iTunes to populate this list".
It is shocking to me that Apple would let something as simple as a pathway link to associated library files get this messed up on an upgrade, but what's even more surprising is that with the number of people who seem to be having this particular issue (and I can tell from all the research that I've done for weeks online that there are a lot of them) that there doesn't seem to be a single clear answer to fixing it anywhere on these community support forums.  Most of what I've seen is rehashed advice from outdated issues.  What I need is a simple answer to how do we get these programs to look for the correct location of the photo and music files because I sure can't seem to find any logical place to do that through the programs' preferences files or the system preferences window?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    P.S. Here's the details on the software/hardware:
    MacBook Pro
    Mac OS X
    Version 10.7.5
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    iTunes 11.0.4 (4)
    iPhoto '11 9.4.3 (720.91)
    iMovie '11 9.0.9 (1795)
    Keynote '09 5.3 (1170)
    Pages '09 4.3 (1048)
    Numbers '09 2.3 (554)

I have the same problem on a new MacBook Pro. I have not been able to access the iTunes library from iPhoto since I got this computer. I looked in the Preferences file and deleted the com.apple.iApps.plist but there was no com.apple.iApps.lockfile so I just deleted the iAPPs.plist and rebooted the computer.  Still no iTunes available in iPhoto.
All my music is in iTunes and plays. After reading the above I brought up Pages and I was able to access music and insert a track into a document.
    Do you have any suggestions.

Before trying to answer, I wish to check if you are really running under 10.4.11 and in this case, which is the exact application's version in use.

Microsoft Office is really expensive sompared to pages and I would prefer to buy pages, but I don't have a Mac. Can I buy pages on a Windows PC?

A google search on 'windows word processor' will find several alternatives to MS Word, many of them free. Add a separate search for 'windows office suite' to locate the integrated productivity applications.

  • Can I buy MBP WITHOUT HD and RAM preinstalled?

    Hello everybody.
I might buy a MBP in the near future, we'll see about the update and everything.
I want to know, if I DO choose to buy a MBP, is there any way I can buy it WITHOUT a hard drive and ram preinstalled? This is because as soon as I get it, I plan to install my own SSD (128gb) and Ram (2x4GB).
I want to save a little money because if I buy it the way it is now, I would have to opt for the lowest spec hd and ram and swap them out to upgrade.
I'll reinstall snow leopard, then install WIN7 via bootcamp.
*** am I gonna do with those spare parts? Sell them? Too much trouble, I don't want to get them in the first place.
    So, is there any way?
If not, Apple should COME UP with a way.
    If so, then TELL ME.
    -Leo

    Leo,
My comment was as follows, with emphasis this time:
"and then added ~$1000 for 2x4GB DDR3 RAM and a decent SSD"
As you say, it is approximately $400-500 for 2x4GB DDR3 and $400-500 for a decent SSD. I'm well aware of that and, with taxes, adding those numbers will give you approximately, as I said before, $1000.
First of all, you've already mentioned that it's entirely their fault. So why must I suffer for their ignorance?
You're missing the point entirely. It is their fault, but Apple will be the one that suffers when they all call and demand to know why their new computer isn't working. Most people, when confronted with two options that appear to be exactly the same (remember they aren't technically savvy) will choose the cheaper one every time. For this reason, Apple (who is selling the machine and the license to use OS X, remember) will have to pay for technical support for all those people. Not a very smart business plan.
Second of all, ignorant people don't turn to Apple at first glance
I know a lot of people who use Apple products precisely because they are much easier to use than any Windows PC. And, I would say that the vast majority of the population falls into the "technically non-savvy" group. You and I are part of a very small minority, whether you like it or not.
Concerning your view that apple's reliability would go down, they should come out with a compatibility list.
Why would Apple put so much time and energy into testing thousands of hardware permutations to cater to perhaps 5% (10% would be very generous) of their customers? Answer is that they haven't, and they won't. It makes no sense for them, financially. Period. And people would still probably complain if the SSD they really want isn't on the list. It is a lose/lose for Apple.
Should I ** up, I would not blame apple... I'm no noob... I'll deal with it... I will buy the MBP "AS IS"
That's exactly the option you have right now. Buying the MBP as is, or not buying it at all.
This scenario can be avoided completely by burying this "advanced" option deeper in the site.
And yet I bet you that thousands of people would still find it and mistakenly pick it because it's cheaper, without knowing what they're actually doing. Everyone likes to think that they're "advanced". It doesn't mean that they actually are or that they know at all what they're doing.
there are those "technically challenged" people out there... However, let's analyze, who are they?
As I said above, at least 50% of the current population with the financial capacity to purchase Apple products are probably "technically challenged".
Either they are old, or they're noobs. Apple do not target either of those audiences.
Honestly, I don't think you really know who Apple targets. I don't claim to know either. I like to think they target almost everyone, or they try. There is no reason why an old person or someone who has never used a computer could not or would not want to use a Mac.
Again, as I said above: Buy a Mac with the processor and graphics configuration you want, and then sell off the stock parts if you want. Or don't, and build what you really want. There isn't currently, and probably never will be, the alternative that you're looking for.

  • System is too old to up date to iTune7 and can't buy songs without it?

My mac is from a stone age era of OS10.2.5. I tried to purchase some musics from iTune today and its site is asking me to update iTune7 when I try to make a purchase and the only link on that site is mac.com. There is no "update later" or similar link. However, iTune can't be installed on my mac because it requires Mac OS X10.3.9 or higher. How can I purchase music without updating to new system nor iTune7 ? Somebody please help!

I was in a similar bind, and the solution of upgrading to iTunes 6.0.5 worked like a charm for me, too. (I've got an aging iMac running 10.2.8 so there's not much point to upgrading to a newer Mac OS.) However, the URL given by "flipm0e" did not work, possibly having been changed in the interim. After some searching I found the correct page with a slightly different URL:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/itunes605formac.html
Now I can get back to building my collection of Stones tunes -- Thanks much!

  • Can't upgrade Pages, Numbers Keynote

    Hello everyone,
after the recent release of the new iWork apps I went in the app store to update them. Once i click on the price and say buy app it sais:
Pages 4.3 is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store. Do you want to buy Pages 5.0?
What am I suppose to do? contact apple support?
    thanks,
    luca

You must have Mavericks installed to get the updates. Mavericks is a definite upgrade compared to Lion but, IMHO, any version of OS X is an improvement over Lion. But the new Pages 5 is definitely NOT an improvement over any other version of Pages.
