Yes, you can go directly to Tiger, there is no need to pass through Panther on your way.

  • Where can I buy Tiger in Canada??

Hi pretty straightforward question - I have an emac, 1ghz, 256mb- I need to upgrade to tiger so i can work home access via citrix but needs minimum of Tiger. I cannot get leopard as my specs on my Mac arent good enough but cannot find anywhere to buy tiger as its now outdated - i live in Toronto- any recommendations very welcome (apart from get a new mac thanks!)

Hi Chris, and a warm welcome to the forums!
You have to be careful which Tiger Install Disks you buy, there are many Machine specific gray colored ones.
    Ebay seems the best.
You can easily add more RAM & run Leopord though...

if i purchase a device through this official website, then how can i send warranty when the device have problem?

To purchase a device from the online US Apple Store you will need a US credit card with a valid US address and a valid US address to ship to. You cannot use a shipping forwarder.
If you are in a different country you would have to return to the US to access your warranty.
If you are in the US but not near an Apple Store you would start here for service: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

If you go into the Purchased tab in the iTunes store apps on your iPad and iPhone then you might be able to redownload them from there - they should then be accessible in the Music / Videos app without you needing to be be online.

    Welcome To  Discussions Noemi3580!
Here are images of the Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, that must be used.
The discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade, CPU Drop-in DVD, or "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold seperately." on them.
Although those are available at the other online retailers, like Amazon, eBay, FastMac, HardCore Mac, AllMac, etc., notice that, the correct one Mac OS X 10.4.6 Tiger, (DVD) Retail at FastMac, is $159.95, And at HardCore Mac, it's $199.99.
The other retailers' prices are comparable, to those quotes.
Both are more expensive, than The Apple Store (U.S.)'s $129.00.
    Caveat Emptor!
If any are presently available, examine these items very carefully, and if in doubt, ask questions of the seller before purchase!

Unless you've replaced it, the eMac 700 MHZ has a CD_ROM optical drive.
As Texas Mac Man posted, there are Tiger 10.4.x Cds available at FastMac, but the price is $179.95.
You can also use an alternative method of installation.

The Tiger Media Exchange Program, referred to, is no longer available.
As I posted above, there is also a version available on CDs, at FastMac.

  • Can I buy Tiger now (jan 08)

My ibook G4 just isn't fast or good enough (sorry guys at Apple) for Leopard so I'm wondering if I can buy a cheap Tiger OS from somewhere.
I'm in Mexico but my daughter could buy me one in UK.
    thanks
    Gordon
PS Of course I know I should buy a new computer.

    Hi gordon!
Be sure you purchase the correct discs! Here is some additional info.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
If your Mac meets the Leopard System Requirements. Leopard 10.5.x, can also be purchased at The Apple Store (U.S.).
If you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased, sometimes less expensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, FastMac, HardCore Mac, AllMac, etc.
This is the correct one Mac OS X 10.4.6 Tiger, (DVD) Retail at FastMac.
At HardCore Mac, it's even more expensive.
Both are more expensive, than The Apple Store (U.S.).
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Tiger and Leopard are on DVD.
The discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade, CPU Drop-in DVD, or "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold seperately." on them.

If your Mac meets the Tiger System Requirements, once Tiger 10.4.x is installed, you can use the PPC 10.4.11 Combo Update, to upgrade to the current version.
If Leopard 10.5.x is installed, use the Mac OS X 10.5.1 Update.
Additionally, Tiger 10.4.x ships on a DVD, so if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you will have to use an alternative method of installation.

  • I purchased an imac in 2010 and have not upgraded the system. Can I buy the latest one now without having upgraded before?

I have not upgraded my original imac system, and there have been several upgrades since then. Can I upgrade now from the original system or do I have to do that in "steps". Is it advisable to upgrade to the latest with this computer?

  • My old computer crashed and can't be recovered. I now have a new computer but can't get to any of my purchased music. I can see it when I view my purchase history, but can't get to a playlist...help!

How do I recover playlist or at a minimum purchased music/apps on itunes?

The only way to get playlists back is if you backed them up, iTunes does are not store them online.
In terms of apps and music purchases then you should be able to re-download them from iTunes (assuming that they're still available and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to buy/download them) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 (music re-downloading is only available in the US but I assume that you are in West Des Moines in the US).
In the future it's best to make and maintain backups of your content - iTunes content, including apps and music, could be removed from the store, in which case you wouldn't be able to re-download them.

  • Why does my iPad ask for a credit card to buy apps when I already have money on my iTunes account?

Why does it do that? It used to do that for free apps to but once I put my credit card on it, it stop asking for free apps. But now it still wants a card even though I still have 20 dollars left from a birthday gift card. I heard somewhere that this was because of a new feature to stop kids from downloading apps that their parents don't want them to or buying a bunch of apps and racking up a huge bill, is this part of it?

Is the card expired? You cannot have an expired card in your account.

  • How to deal w/footage in iMovie '04 folders when I now have iMovie '06?

I posted this in the iWeb forum and then thought about posting it here.

I still haven't set up my new 500 gig La Cie external hard drive but I am going to, especially since my existing 111 gig La Cie ext. hd is making screeching sounds at startup.
Anyhow, I have all of the instructions printed up on how to set up iPhoto, iTunes, iDVD, and iWeb to save to the 500 gig hard drive, but
THIS QUESTION IS ABOUT footage/clips, iMovie '04 and iMovie '06:
Either late 2000 or early 2001 I took some videotape. In 2004 or so I uploaded the footage from my Sony digital video camera recorder DCR-TRV 11 to my then iMac. I used iMovie '04 and therefore the video clips that are in my hard drive are iMovie '04 clips/footage.
I read in 2005 that iMovies made from/in/with iMovie '04 were giving troubles to owners who then swtched to iLife '06. I would read the iMovie forums and discovered that there were (it seemed to me) an inordinate number of problems with people who tried to make movies in iMovie '06 with film footage imported previously into iMovie '04.
My thinking now is that although I have that 2000 or 2001 footage sitting in iMovie '04 folders, I should upload those very same clips/footage from my Sony digital video camera recorder DCR-TRV 11 into my iMac and store the uploaded footage in the La Cie 500 gig big daddy HD. Then, after the footage is uploaded and sitting in iMovie '06 folders, I would go and delete the old iMovie '04 footage.
Is my thinking correct? I think it makes perfect logic. Do you think so too? Before I do it, is there anything I should know to keep in mind?
    Thank you.

EDIT: I just decided to post this also in iMovie '06. -Lorna

I still haven't set up my new 500 gig La Cie external
    hard drive...
Before using that drive, use Disk Utility to format the drive with the Mac OS Extended disk format. Even if the drive already uses that format, I strongly suggest formatting it again. You may save yourself a ton of problems.
I read in 2005 that iMovies made from/in/with iMovie
'04 were giving troubles to owners who then swtched
to iLife '06. I would read the iMovie forums and
discovered that there were (it seemed to me) an
inordinate number of problems with people who tried
to make movies in iMovie '06 with film footage
    imported previously into iMovie '04.
The vast majority of problems have nothing to do with iMovie 6. They have to do with third-party plug-ins used to create clips in iMovie 4, plug-ins that are not compatible with iMovie 6. When such a project is converted to iMovie 6 iMovie 6 doesn't know what to do with those clips.
If you haven't used such products in iMovie 4 the conversion of projects to iMovie 6 will probably go smoothly. (I've never had a problem converting projects, but I don't use third-party plug-ins.)
To be safe, ALWAYS make a copy of your iMovie 4 project and convert THAT to iMovie 6. If there's a problem, you'll still have the original. You can use the original to import the iMovie 4 Timeline to iMovie 6.
My thinking now is that although I have that 2000 or
2001 footage sitting in iMovie '04 folders, I should
upload those very same clips/footage from my Sony
digital video camera recorder DCR-TRV 11 into my iMac
and store the uploaded footage in the La Cie 500 gig
big daddy HD. Then, after the footage is uploaded and
sitting in iMovie '06 folders, I would go and delete
    the old iMovie '04 footage.
That step isn't necessary, actually. Just drag each iMovie 4 project to your new drive and make a duplicate (or keep the old one on the old drive) before converting it.

  • Downloaded new version, can't work with my os. now have nothing. want old system back

downloaded new firefox per directions. would not work because of my os. now it is the only version I have on computer. Want my old version of FF back so I can use.

Reinstall Safari 5.1.10 for OS X 10.6.8: http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1569. Might do the trick.
But, frankly, I don't think that simply reinstalling the old Safari will work because of all the peripheral, under the hood changes that happen when you upgrade from one version of Safari to another. Reinstalling 5.1.10 may be insufficient to turn back the clock. (This is the moment where a Time Machine or another form of full backup would save your bacon.)
While you're getting a copy of Safari 5.1.10, get a copy of Firefox (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/desktop/), too, so that you have an alternate browser to use as you're sorting matters.

  • My laptop's been stolen; I have serial number of my Photoshop Elements but can't remember which version; I now have Wondows 8.1. How do I know which version to redownload and install?

Sorry...title says it all. I had a Photoshop Elements 3.0 on disk and have subsequently downloaded updates and was running an updated version on my stolen laptop with Windows 7.
MyAccount shows my Photoshop serial number but not the version number which I have forgotten. I assume I can now redownload the version I had - updated to work on Windows 8.1 but don't know which version to download.

I am about to create a Muse site for a client in a month or two but he would like to have his business cards with his web address on it now. Is there any requirements with third arty hosting i should be aware of?
