We have two landlines in our house, but we only need one and we'd like to stop wasting money. The first line, which is only used for phone calls, has the number which all our personal and professional contacts know – so we really don’t want to get rid of that. The second line is only used for BT Broadband Option 3 – so we want to surrender that line altogether and move the broadband service over to our first line (which, according to the BT website, will also give us much better broadband speeds). Sounds simple …. but somehow I’m concerned that the broadband transfer/line cancellation process could get screwed up. Especially since we would also want to downgrade the broadband service to (today’s equivalent of) Option 2 and add BT Vision to the mix.
So I’d be grateful for any advice on how best to proceed. Since our BT Broadband contract expired long ago, could I just cancel that and – at the same time – take out a totally new broadband contract (at a better price, and/or a new hub, with luck) on the phone line which we want to keep? Or will BT not let me do that, since both phone lines are registered to the same address/account? Or, if I really want to avoid things going wrong, should I think about leaving BT altogether and taking a competitor’s broadband/tv combination product? I’ve actually had no major problems - over many years - with the BT broadband service, so I’m certainly prepared to stick with the devil I know if I can be (reasonably...) sure that things aren’t going to go wrong and that the cost savings are going to make it all worthwhile.

You look as if you have some difficult descisions to make and I would normally suggest just ringing sales and asking them.
This looks a little to complicated.
Why not ask the forum mods what is the best way to go about this, they might even be able to arrange it for you.
If you fill in this form: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951 with a link back to your post for ref, the mods will get back to you. It can take up to 3 days ( sometimes longer in busy periods), and they will contact you direct via phone or email.

Try this (assuming you're using iPhoto 12): make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select options #1, #2 and #6.
Fix #3
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:

Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

It would be best for you to open iTunes, sign in and view your account. If all the purchases were paid already instead of entering your new card information, it will give you an option for "NONE" as a payment method. Again this is not applicable of you have a pending charges with iTUnes

Can a cancelled CC sub interfere with a fresh new one?

I cancelled a CC sub at the 11 month period to sign up for another year. Adobe said the old sub would cause no problems.
But CC frequently reports a problem with my account. My apps work, but I don't think they will update. The Creative Cloud wants to update itself, but it fails when I try. BT demanding I take out a new 12 month contract to...

As per title, my exchange has recently been upgraded as part of 21CN and I want to go from ADSL to ADSL2+ immediately. I am on their top unlimited package, paying £24 a month and I am absolutely amazed that they want me to take out a new contract before I get ADSL2+.
I want to make sure that the speed is better with ADSL2+ before I commit to BT for 12 months. I had a nightmare with them last year and it took 4 months for them to fix it so they really don't deserve any faith from me.
Surely, as I am paying the most anyone can pay to BT for Broadband that I deserve the fastest speed possible?
Am I being unreasonable?

If you want an idea of new speed possible on adsl2 then enter your current attenuation + 2db (increase due to adsl2) and this will show possible speed

I would suggest you do a forum search for 'upgrade problems' just so you are aware the upgrade can cause problems
as Ectophileexplained you will get upgraded without any new contract but you need to wait until BT upgrade all customers. if you want to jump queue then new contract is required - you also get the chance to negotiate a reduced monthly package cost

I can move the yellow line all the way down till the volume reads -0.0, but the sound is still there on playback. I can click on fade in and fade out and the yellow line that graphs volume takes a sharp raise or dip at the beginning or end of the clip, but there is no change in volume when I play back. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the reply. Great news about the volume adjusts.
Now about those fades for the volume. How are you doing that?
1. Right click the Timeline video audio and select Fade and then
see the Fade options (I had a video with audio file, so I saw the choices as shown in the screenshot)
2. You can also create two volume keyframes at each end of the Timeline audio clip rubberband (orange line that goes horizontally across the middle of the audio clip). At the position of the Timeline Indicator, click the Add/Remove Keyframe icon, and then with the mouse cursor position the white dots (volume keyframes) to achieve the Fade In and Fade Out audio. In the screenshot below I have moved the Timeline Indicator so that you could better see the white dots (volume keyframes).
Please let us know if any of the above works for you with regard to the audio fades.

Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
