Can I change how my folders behave?

I am confused by how my folders behave in Lion. I would like them to behave like they did in Snow Leopard. Being able to arrange them by kind is important to the work I do. But now I get these strange separations instead of the files arranged by their kind. It makes it hard for me to find what I'm looking for.
Is there a way to make them funciton like they did in Snow Leopard?

Finder > View > show view options > Set Arrange by: None > Sort by: Kind.

If you have a @me.com address, you can change the address you use to send email from using the drop down box in the from field in your email.

Can't change names of folders or drives on desktop

All of a sudden my powers to change names of files and folders on desktop has been taken away from me, I'm stuck with untitled folder 1,2,etc..

Hi Rugger,
Sounds like a permissions thing. Try using Disk Utility. It's here:
Applications/Utilities.
Launch DU, select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, then click
Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished, Quit Disk Utility.
Reboot and see if that makes a difference.
And some tips about naming or renaming folders ... etc.
Changing the names of items
You can easily change the name of a file, folder, or disk on your computer.
IMPORTANT: To avoid problems using Mac OS X or applications on your computer, don't move or change the names of folders that came with your system (such as the Library folder or your home). You should also not change the names of applications or items associated with specific applications. If you accidentally change the name of an installed item and you experience problems, you can change the name back.
Locate the item you want to rename on your desktop or in a Finder window.
Click the item to select it, then click the name. The name is highlighted and you will be able to edit it.
Type the new name and press Return.
Some document names have a file extension, such as ".txt" or ".jpg." If you change the name of a file and delete the extension, some applications may no longer recognize the file. To ensure the file can be recognized by the application that created it, change only the part of the name that comes before the extension, or open the file using the appropriate application, then save the file with a new name.
You cannot change the name of an item in the Finder window's sidebar. You must locate the item on your desktop or in a Finder window to highlight and change the name.

My iPhone 4S sound won't work. I can't watch any videos or listen to music directly off my phone. It only plays with plugged into to auxiliary cord. Although, the ringtone and my alarm works, I can't change how loud either is.

I have an iPhone 4S. My ringtone and alarm will work, on occasion my texting alert will too. Although, I can't control how loud I want any of these things anymore. Other than that, my slide to unlock sound does not work, neither does the click sounds when texting. I have checked to make sure these are all on and enabled in settings. My phone will not play music and I cannot hear any videos either unless it is plugged into an auxiliary cord and played through a stereo. I dropped it in the snow once, could this be why? Is this a malfunction? Can I fix it or do I get a new phone because of a defect? Thank you!!

Your phone still thinks it is plugged into the stereo. I don't remember how to solve this but perhaps you can search through the forum or maybe one of the members here will jump in on how to switch the playback to speakers.

Can I change how long before a "time out"?

Hi,
I have a hardware firewall that intercepts and scans all incoming POP traffic before letting it pass through.
We've found an issue with large attachments where Mail times out before the firewall has downloaded and scanned the attachment.
I can't find a Network or Mail preference to change the length of Mail's time out.
Anyone know how to do it?

Dual 2.5 Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I took a look at Tweak UI. It has my current hover time as 400ms.
1) In my PS CS4, the hover time is about 1400 ms (I measured it), so I doubt that CS4 uses the setting displayed in Tweak UI.
2) I tried changing the hover time in Tweak UI to 100ms. It made no difference in PS.
I have seen elsewhere on the web that in InDesign the user can set the hover time, implying that delay is inside the PS program also.
Other ideas?
By the way, I am on XP SP3.

Can I change how the genre is chosen for a new selection?

I read in an answer to someones's question that default genres cannot be changed. Today I loaded one of my music CDs into iTunes and the genre of "Pop" was assigned to it automatically. But I don't use that genre. Is there a way I can choose the genre and have that one assigned as the CD is going into iTunes? I know I can go to each selection and change Pop to something else, but that is tedious. Thanks.

iTunes likely got that genre from the Gracenote CDDB. If you don't like the one you get, you can change it for all the tracks at once by selecting them all, right-clicking, and selecting "Get Info". Type the genre you want in the genre field and click OK.

Can i Change How the Remote Chooses a Button?

I'm working in iDVD 08 and I've got three buttons in a menu. I'm using a the Center Stage theme and I have removed the drop zones. Anyways I have three buttons on this menu one in the middle right, middle left, and the bottom of the screen forming like a triangle...i want to be able to set the buttom on the middle right to be selected when the right arrow on a remote is pushed...but idvd only seems to do this randomly (it works in some menus, but not all). Any one know how I can control this?

Actually, I figured out that I you select the two bottons that are horizontal together and then select the alignment for middle, idvd will then navigate properly (even if the two buttons were already in line)

Can I change how my albulms are sorted?

I don't like the new Music app of iOS7. The way they show the 'per artist' by also listing all the individual tracks under the album is annoying. For example there is one artist that has 30 albums and browsing its list is no longer efficient.
Also, how does the sorting works? I doesn't seem alphabetical like before, but listed by years.
So my questions are : Can I make it alphabetical? Can I just show the albums/artists and no more individual tracks unless I want to?

Can you change how links are veiwed in dreamweaver?

Hi I'm practicing with Dreamweaver CS4, and have a query. Essentially I have 2 types of buttons on my test page, one is a link to another page, the other is a hidden AP element. When you roll over the link to another page the cursor changes from an arrow to a hand, but with the button that reveals the hidden AP element it doesn't change from an arrow to a hand, in fact the cursor doesn't react at all (but the button does work). IS there a way to keep the AP element button but force Dreamweaver to react to the button like a hyperlink so that the cursor changes when rolling over it?

Why can't change how my calendar looks?

Why can’t they just give you a few options? Not everybody is going to like one or the other….I can change a billion other things on this to make it work the way I want but I can’t choose a different calendar screen without basically going back in time to an older app.

In the resuliting dialogue there are a couple of items that affect the "weight" of the file. Jpeg Quality has the largest impact, Size less so.

Can I Change How The Pointer Appears Over A Link?

Is there a way to change my pointer so that it doesn't change to the little pointer finger when it goes over a link? I have a larger pointer and it shrinks back down to the teeny hand when I'm on the web. It drives me nuts.
Also, I'm still using 10.3.9, but I was hoping there was some way for me to change it. Is there a preference pain or something?

In Tiger, the Universal preference panel>Mouse - at the bottom - "difficulty in seeing a mouse" gives the option of making the pointer larger. When I tried it, i.e. move the slider to the right, the pointer did not reduce in size when I moved over a link in Safari. Not sure if the same feature is offered in Panther.
