Can I change my default boot order to netboot from the mac mini command line?

I'd like to change my boot order on the mac mini to netboot first.  I need to do this from the command line so that I can automate this change to a bunch of mac minis.  Is there a way to do this?  The only way I have found to netboot is through pressing command N.  Thanks

Any of these help...

If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Questions' or 'iTunes Store account security' (it appears to vary by country) and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
You should get an email reply within about 24 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox).

    Hi Sandra,
you'll need to edit the security settings to install programs 'Mac App Store and identified developers'
Open the Systems Preference and go to Security & Privacy.  There will be a section in the 'General' tab for 'Allow apps downloaded from:"  The default selection is 'Mac App Store'.  Change this setting to 'Mac App Store and identified developers".
This screenshot is taken on OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), so it may look slightly different if you're on a different OS X version.

  • I have a mac mini with a web cam/microphone and would like to be able to facetime with my families iPhones 4S/5 using wi-fi email address.  I can't call the iPhones from the Mac Mini with Mountain Lion OS.  What is wrong?

I am trying to include a Mac Mini with a webcam/microphone to call several family iPhones 4S/5 usisng email addresses vice phone numbers so that we can communicate from outside the US via iPhone to the US (Mac Mini) via wi-fi and email addresses.  We are using the same email address for the Mac Mini as for Itunes and made new email addresses for each of the iPhones.  I cannot receive calls from the iPhones but can call the iPhones from the Mac Mini.  what needs to be corrected?
    Thanks.

  • ""Install Adobe Flash Player.app" can't be opened because... not downloaded from the Mac App Store"

I jsut upgraded to 10.9 and it is up to date and also my safari is up to date (no updates available for it). My safari is saying that my flash is out of date. when I follow the links it lets me download but when I double click to install it tell me "“Install Adobe Flash Player.app” can’t be opened because it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store.". When I install the flash UNinstaller and try to install that, it tells me the same. I ALSO found the exact same problem when I tried to install the acrobat installer (some tried to download a pdf and the page told me that my acrobat reader 'might' be out of date). Any thought?

You're running up against the GateKeeper.
Download the offline installer: Flash Player 12.0.0.44 (Mac OS X) by right clicking and choosing "Download Linked File As".
Mount the DMG and when it opens, right click the installer and choose "Open".
You'll see a warning. Click "Open" again.
    It will run from there.

  • Can I run 2 different size and ratio monitors from my mac mini

    Hi
I have a samsung 50" TV currently hooked up to my mini via HDMI, I have another TV 32" which i'll plug in either via a splitter or more likely displayport to hdmi, but when I tested the 32" via HDMI there was no input signal.
I've checked and this can be fixed going in remotely and changing the ratio but surely this would affect both displays or can I change settings for each display output?
I do want a 3rd TV hooked up to, but how would I do this if that display is again different? - not bought this one yet

If these are all TVs then presumably they are all the same aspect ratio, namely 16:9 widescreen. You should be able to run both, or all three using a splitter, as long as the lowest common resolution is selected. It sounds like perhaps the 32" TV only supports 720p. But so should the other TVs. So as long as you set things to what is supported by the least of the TVs, they should all work.

  • How can I redownload recently purchased music that was removed from my mac mini through my itunes account?

I recently transfered all my music to an external hard drive and then deleted it and emptied the trash.  Most of the musi was transfered successfully but recent purchases did not make it and have been deleted.  When I go into itunes i can see the list of purchsed music, but since it's unable to be located I get the ! sign.  All forums tell me to go to the itunes store and go to pruchases under the quick link bar, but I don't see a quick link bar.  PLEASE HELP!  I am able to download the music onto my iphone and ipad just fine, why cant it be that easy on my new mac mini!  I am so frustrated!

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you open iTunes and click on Store in the sidebar, then look on the right side you will see a block of links labeled Quick Links.

  • Can't upgrade a legacy version of iLife '11 from the Mac App Store.

I have bought, a few years back, a legacy version of iLife '11 on DVD. I have heard that Apple is offering a free upgrade to their new iLife suite but when I accessed the Mac App Store, I can't upgrade to the new version. I currently have not made the move to Mavericks and I am still on Mountain Lion on a late 2009 iMac. Have I heard wrong and I am not allowed to a free upgrade or is there something I need to do to upgrade iLife?

You need to upgrade to OS X Mavericks first, as the most recent iLife versions are only compatible with OS X Mavericks.
After upgrading to OS X Mavericks, you will be prompted to update the iLife applications in the Mac App Store, and it will ask you for your Apple ID to register the applications to your Apple ID, so you can get them free of charge

  • ICal in OS X Lion default on new entries is 'all day'.  How can I change that default?

The OS X Lion default on new iCal entries is 'all day'.  How can I change that default?  It seems odd that the default would be 'all day' when most entries are for meetings lasting less than that.

Unfortunetely the only way is to uncheck the box each time you set up an entry. I trust enough feedback from users will convince Apple to change that in the future.

    Yours will help that effort.

  • Can't access iTunes and Screen Sharing sharing services on my mac Mini

Since several weeks now I face a networking issue of the stranger kind.
Currently I've got my Mac mini acting as the central server for music, photos and files in my home. Central Network Mgmt device is a Wireless Lan router.
In the past I was accessing the Mac Mini from my MacBook via Screen Sharing this doesn't work anymore. When requesting the service the connection effort just runs idle. In iTunes on my MacBook I can see the Libary of my Mac Mini iTunes but clicking on it brings the rotateing ball and after a certain while the message that the iTunes Libary is not responding and that I should check my Firewall settings. Which I did on both computers and they are wide open. 'Ipfw show' in Terminal brings back the message 'Open for any to any communication' also on both computers.
Makeing use of the File sharing service from the MacBook to the MacMini works but it takes a extreme long while until the shared folder appears on the MacBook.
Trying to access from the Mac Mini my MacBook for all these services is no problem.
One more thing is that my Mac Mini cannot access the Wireless Lan router anymore thru the Web Browser or thru a Ping. Here I get the message 'Ping Send to: permission denied'. I changed the Router still the same message. Internet traffic is only possible after I manually applied a DNS Server with its IP number.
Anyone out there who could help? I'm close to completely reinstall my Mac Mini but would naturally love to avoid this.

    wireduck,
Highlight the music folder and on the keyboard type (Command) + i: on the window that opens scroll down if need and click on the lock on the bottom right. Type in an Admin User name and password. Then under the (Sharing & Permissions:) make sure the users you want to open the folder are listed and that there (Privilege) is set to @ least Read. If not hit the ( + ) sign and add them. After you have that all set up click on the little gear next to the ( - )s sign and (Apply to a enclosed items). that way each user can read the files. After that the little ( - ) sign should be gone on the folders.
    Hope that helps.

  • I can access my time capsule from my mac mini at work but my macbook can only access it from my home network. how do i fix this?

I have a Mac Mini and a MacBook, both were configured at home to access the time capsule. I have since moved the mini to work to use there and it has no issues looking up files on the time capsule which remains at home. The macbook whoever can only access the time capsule from within the home network. I can't seem to find what I may have done differently. Can anybody help?
Not sure if your allowed to post two questions, but it's may be related. I find that accessing the files on the time capsule from the mac mini or the macbook is very slow. Accessing the same files from an older HP laptop is as fast as accessing its own hard drive. How can I speed up the accessing of these files from my apple products. One would think they would work fast and the 'windows' computers would take minutes to map the drive each time...
    Thanks for any help.

I have since moved the mini to work to use there and it has no issues looking up files on the time capsule which remains at home.
This cannot happen by magic though.. you must have configured the mini to access the TC remotely.. which method are you using, BTMM and iCloud??
The macbook whoever can only access the time capsule from within the home network. I can't seem to find what I may have done differently. Can anybody help?
How is the Macbook configured to access the TC remotely?? If you are trying to use BTMM and iCloud, then it might be a case that with the mini running the connection cannot be done by more than one computer at a time.. this is generally the case although I do not know if that is specifically true of BTMM method. Try turning off the mini and leave it off.. (off not standby)... then reboot the TC when you are at home.. and then try and connect the laptop to the TC the next morning from work. See if it is then able to capture the connection.. if so start up the mini and I suspect it now will not be able to connect.. that will prove that the TC cannot cope with two remote connections.
There also could be another factor in here. If you are accessing the laptop via the same router as the mini is on.. then actually you cannot have two users mount the same files on a TC.. from the same IP address.. as far as the TC is concerned both devices have identical IP, that is the public IP of the work location router.
If you happen to not be using BTMM then the situation is even easier.. you cannot make two different devices connect to the same network resource using the same port. That is the failing of the NAT system.. one device uses the port then it cannot be used by a second device. You will need to do some fancy footwork and use a different port.
Anyhow tell us exactly how you are doing remote access.. otherwise I am just guessing.
Not sure if your allowed to post two questions, but it's may be related. I find that accessing the files on the time capsule from the mac mini or the macbook is very slow.
Are you talking about files you are hosting on the TC?? Not Time Machine backups??
Can you tell me exactly how you are accessing the TC.. please do a test..
Copy a file to the TC and from the TC using the Laptop.. Use a single very large file, eg 1GB movie file.
Give me a read and write speed.. you can use activity monitor to give me an aprox average speed as well as peak.
Do the same test from the same computer with wireless turned off running ethernet.
Then do the tests from the mini.. same ones.. copy large file to and from the TC by ethernet and by wireless.. when using ethernet make sure wireless is off.
I strongly recommend you set IPv6 to link local only for your wireless and ethernet setup in the Mac.
    eg
Now do the test from the HP laptop and give me the results from that.
Is the issue wireless only.. ??
Then you might need to spend a bit of time fixing the wireless in the Macs.. you can run wireless diagnostics in Mavericks.

  • I am trying to play my digital music off a hard drive onto my home stereo.  I would like to know if the mac mini can just hook to my processor and play music through the processor(preamp) on my home stereo speakers?

I currently have a nice home stereo component system.  I also have a 500 GB external hard drive loaded with music.  I am looking for a way to play the music off this Hard Drive onto my home stereo system.  I currently have a WD home entertainment box that I can play movies that I download off the Internet on my TV, of course piped through my home stereo for the sound.  I would like to know if the mac-mini could be used in this form also.  Just have the HD hooked to it, the TV would become my monitor and the mac mini would play the music ... RANDOMLY ... with the use of iTunes.  This of course would be hooked up to the home system with an hdmi cable and the HD hooked up through a USB connection.
Just would like to know if this could work?

    Yes. Is the short answer.
You can directly connect the speaker out port of the Mac mini to an input on the AV Receiver which then feeds your speakers. This would be an audio only solution. If you use a TOS-Link connection this will be a pure digital connection ensuring the best quality (important for audiophiles).
You can if you wish connect the video from the Mac mini to the AV Receiver, and if you have a Mac mini with HDMI or a Mini Displayport you can run the audio and video via a single cable. (Older models would use two cables, the aforementioned TOS-Link pus a DVI to HDMI cable.)
If you do connect the video output from the Mac to the AV Receiver you can then display this on your TV, and have as one possibility iTunes displayed with perhaps one of the iTunes visualisers playing along with the music. Another possibility would be to use FrontRow on the Mac.
A different approach would be to have the Mac mini stream over a network to a device e.g. the Sonos Zoneplayer which is then connected to the AV Receiver. An AirPort Express is also able to do this.

Not sure what you mean by changing your default voicemail number, but anyhing involving voicemail access is determined by your carrier.
