Can I change the hard drive in a PB 15" G4 1.67? If Yes HOW?
I am new to Mac I purchessed a PB 15" G4 1.67 with a 80G HD about 6 months ago and only have about 20 Gigs of disk space left. I brought a 160G Hitachi to replace the 80 but not sure how to put it in or what preperation I need to do first. Can anyone Help?

Here is a link to directions at ifixit (linked to from this narrative that has some good pointers about getting your data moved over). Not for the average Joe! (but maybe the average Vern, not sure). I have NOT tried doing this myself but will probably, soon.
Be sure to read and print the directions before you go to town, lock the room so kids and pets don't disturb you equipment, keep a journal, number the parts, etc. I swapped drives in my old Titanium at least a dozen times with no problems, but the Aluminum is a different beast.
Or you could take it down to an Authorized Apple technician and pay them to do the swap.

How can I change the hard drive location of the iCloud Drive?
I am using a SSD for my boot drive, but it's space is limited.
So I would like to relocate the iCloud Drive to one of my internal HDs, but I see no option to do this.
Let's hope Apple would make such an obvious option available.
I don't want to change the location of my entire Home directory, as that would slow down my access to cache files, etc...
I had one suggestion of using the terminal with an "ln -s" command to create a soft link. However, it appears the iCloud Drive is store in ~/Library/Mobile Documents. If I remove this directory or any subdirectory, they are automatically recreated, I assume by some sort of background process.
Does anybody know if this is possible, and how to accomplish it?

If you are going to use an SSD as a boot drive together with your existing HDD as the "data" drive, here's what you can do.
After installing the SSD you will need to partition and format the SSD using Disk Utility. Then, install OS X on the SSD. After OS X has been installed boot from the SSD. Use Startup Disk preferences to set the SSD as the startup volume.
Open Users & Groups preferences. Click on the lock icon and authenticate. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on your user account listing in the sidebar and select Advanced Options from the context menu. You will see a field labeled "Home dir:" At the right end you will see a Change button. Click on it. In the file dialog locate the Home folder now located on the HDD (HDD/Users/account_name/.) Select the folder, click on Open button. Restart the computer as directed. When the computer boots up it will now be using the Home folder located on the HDD.
Another more technical method involving the Terminal and aliases is discussed in depth here: Using OS X with an SSD plus HDD setup - Matt Gemmell. This is my preferred approach because I can select which of the Home's folders I want on the HDD and which I don't want. For example, I like to keep the Documents and Library folders on the SSD because I access their content frequently.
Be sure you retain the fully bootable system on your HDD in case you ever need it. -
hi i have a macbook pro and when i changed the hard drive the screen wasn't as it was supposed to be it was green on it's side and blurred.what can i do to fix it and what is the reason?
either something got damaged when you installed the hard drive or you need to perform a pram reset (other possibilites could have occured, these are the ones I think)

Green is a marketing term for a drive designed for lower power use, lower noise, and lower heat. The side effect is that it's not as fast. Black drives are designed for highest performance, so they might use more power and run hotter and noisier. I upgraded my Apple Time Capsule with a green drive, but I put a black drive in my Mac Pro.

I just fix my macbook air because it was kernel panic. They changed the hard drive. I could not back up with Time Machine, because it did not work and I had over Adobe creative suite 5 design premium student. But I finished my studies last year and I'd like to know how to get the serial number for me to reinstall Adobe creative suite 5 design premium when I am no longer study because I would still like the used? It is not fair if I do anymore because I really need.

However, you can also consider securely erasing the hard drive instead. You can do this using a Mac OS X installation disc with a version that your iMac G4 can boot from the optical drive. If this is a viable option, please post back (include Mac OS X version on installation disc). -

Graphic card problem maybe? Since when I have changed the hard drive to my macbook pro and I installed all the new softwares, my mac is very slow and the screen gives crazy pictures,could maybe be the graphic card, does anybody have experienced this?
after a restart it works for a time, but always slow. I went to the Applestore this afternoon and the made a check and said it would be the logicboard and they would have to change it for CHF 600 and it would be ready in 10 - 15 days

How can I add the hard drive icon to the menu bar on a MBPr? I have downloaded Google Earth and it wants me to drag it to the hard drive for install. I was able to display the icon but now I would like to put it on the menu bar. Is this possible? Or can I add it to the hardware section under system preferences?

ThanksIt's on your Desktop, is it not? You cannot put it on the menubar through OS X although you may find third-party utilities that will. If you want it on the Desktop:
Select Preferences from the Finder's Finder menu and check the desired boxes:
Click on the Sidebar icon in the toolbar to set what you want displayed in the Sidebar. -

You do not need to make a recovery disc, you just need to clone the hard drive that is currently in your mac to the new hard drive. What you need to do is purchase an external enclosure for the new hard drive, plug it into the usb port and run a cloning program such as CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper! Then put the new drive in the mac.

Yes, if you do a fresh install of the operating system, it's like a brand new machine.
No, if you restore from a backup like a bootable clone or TimeMachine drive.
