I have an iPad 3rd generation... Can I charge it with the adaptor i received with my iPhone 5, but the wire coming with the iPad?

You can but it won't be the most efficient thing you'll do. iPhones put out half the power the iPad wants, so you'll get a not-charging warning and it'll take longer.
I'ts one of those 'in a pinch' things, but not something I'd do on a regular basis

I have experienced no dramas, and neither have any of the customers ive sold 12W chargers too. I say its absolutely fine, but if you wish not to, you can charge it via usb to the computer. How can I charge my iPad 2 when I'm already using the port for a projector?

I run training workshops all day and want to use my iPad to run Keynote or PowerPoint through a projector. I already have the VGA adaptor and that all works fine. Trouble is, the battery only lasts half the day. So I have to swap over to a netbook for the rest of that day while the iPad charges...
Is there a double-adaptor that will allow me to plug the charger in as well as the VGA adaptor?
Seems such an obvious thing to want to do but I've looked all over for an adaptor and I haven't found one...
How can you charge an iPad if the only port on it is already occupied?

Thanks for your suggestion. Kinda means I have to buy a wireless-capable projector. Most of the VGA projectors in the venues I work with are fixed-in-the-ceiling and not wireless capable...
My luck with doing off-the-mainstream stuff like jailbreak etc is that (1) it won't work for me, or (2) it all goes horribly wrong, stuffs up my machine and voids the warranty... So I tend to stick to the proprietory stuff.
Not very adventurous, but then I need dependable stuff with a warranty and someone I can yell at to fix it.
Maybe Apple will read this and provide a risk-free solution.

Well ... the charger is the original charger and just checked and confirmed it is a 5.1V charger. How come? Next is why when i connect my iPad via original usb cable, no response from macbook pro? used to sync with iTunes now totally dead.

Plug it into a wall outlet with the original charger & block for several hours. Then, while it is still plugged in, perform a reset by holding down the home button along with the power button until you see the Apple, then let go.
