Can I configure Cisco 1602i (AIR-CAP1602I-T-K9) in Standalone mode ?

Hi everybody, please, i need some help here.
I bought 3 Cisco 1602i (AIR-CAP1602I-T-K9) but I didn't bought a Controller. How can I configure then in Standalone mode ?
I Saw in other forums, i need to change the IOS Software to an Autonomous Software. They suggested the ap1g2-k9w7-tar.152-4.JA1.tar. I would like to know if it is the right software and if there is any problem with licensing if i download and use it.

Hi,
Yes you must need to change to autonomous mode.Yes it is the right software and you will not face any problem regarding license.
But for download the autonomous AP image from cisco you need a CCO (Cisco login) and valid service contract .
Here is the latest image:Can download from here

With an 11"-inch Macbook Air (mid-2012) using a mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter plugged into the Thunderbolt port:
Can you configure an extended desktop with an external monitor (20") displaying full portrait mode (1200 x 1600 resolution) and keep the built-in display in landscape?
I'd like to see something like
    External monitor / Built-in display

Yes, I can't see why not.
Just give it a try and report back if you have a problem.

  • How can I configure my Macbook Air to always show the menu bar when in full-screen?  I hate, hate, hate it popping up and then going away all the time.

I cannot find a way to change this in System Preferences.  When I have applications open full screen, my menu bar disappears.  Then when I try to move between tabs, I find it is always popping up & then disappearing.  I really just want to set up my computer so that the menu bar always displays in the foreground. I find this popping up & disappearing intrusive and annoying.  How can I fix this?  I hate, hate, hate this about my MAC...
I have searched the full User Guide, Quick Start Guide, etc.  and cannot find a way to fix this.

Don't use the full screen arrow in the top right corner of the window.  Instead, use the green + in the top left corner.  That takes the window full screen just below the menu bar.

    Hi Cyprian,
How have you configured your OPC Server tags?  Are they strings of floating point type?  What type of server is being created?
Also, what's the end goal of this?  Generally speaking NI OPC Servers is used to communicate to a PLC as you have seen.

Hi, I bought 2 nos 3650-24ts-s switch with accessories. i have created 10 vlans & given internal access in one switch. Now I need to configure another switch as standby or HA mode so if any thing goes wrong in first switch, second one will take  automatic.  Pl help to provide me step by step guide for doing the same.thnaks

Depending on license you could have access to setup HSRP between them. Since they aren't stacked switches I would also do a port channel.

    Hi Leo
For product AIR-CAP1602I-E-K9 what country have to configured?
    flowed this table:

  • AIR-CAP1602E-N-K9 access point

    hi,
can any one help me to configure AIR-CAP1602E-N-K9 as standalone acess point.
its a new one with default setting as per my knowledege its a controller based access point so pls help how to convert into standalone access point and which image is compatible with that.

Converting a Lightweight Access Point Back to Autonomous Mode
You can convert an access point from lightweight mode back to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS Release that supports autonomous mode (Cisco IOS release 12.3(7)JA or earlier). If the access point is associated to a controller, you can use the controller to load the Cisco IOS release. If the access point is not associated to a controller, you can load the Cisco IOS release using TFTP.
Note In some LWAPP deployments, the LWAPP controller resides between the access points and the rest of the network. In this topology, all traffic must cross over the controller before communication with network resources, such as a TFTP server, can occur. When converting back to non-LWAPP IOS with an access point that is no longer using the LWAPP protocol, traffic does not cross over the controller to reach the TFTP server.
Note The lightweight 1300 series access points can only be converted back to autonomous mode using a wireless LAN controller.
Using a Wireless LAN Controller to Return to a Previous Release
Follow these steps to revert from LWAPP mode to autonomous mode using a wireless LAN controller:
Step 1 Log into the CLI on the controller to which the access point is associated.
    Step 2 Enter this command:
    config ap tftp-downgrade tftp-server-ip-address filename access-point-name
Using a TFTP Server to Return to a Previous Release
Note This section does not apply to Cisco C3201WMIC and Cisco C3201LAP.
Follow these steps to revert from LWAPP mode to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS release using a TFTP server:
Step 1 The static IP address of the PC on which your TFTP server software runs should be between 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.30.
Step 2 Make sure that the PC contains the access point image file (such as c1200-k9w7-tar.122-15.JA.tar for a 1200 series access point) in the TFTP server folder and that the TFTP server is activated.
Step 3 Set the timeout value on the TFTP server to 30 seconds.
Step 4 On the PC where the TFTP server is located, perform these steps:
    a. Disable any software firewall products, such as Windows firewall, ZoneAlarm firewall, McAffee firewall, or others.
    b. Ensure all Windows files are visible. From Windows Explorer, click Tools > Folder Options > View; then uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types check box.
Step 5 Rename the access point image file in the TFTP server folder to c1200-k9w7-tar.default for a 1200 series access point, c1130-k9w7-tar.default for an 1130 series access point, c1240-k9w7-tar.default for a 1240 series access point, and c1250-k9w7-tar.default for a 1250 series access point.
Step 6 Connect the PC to the access point using a Category 5 (CAT5) Ethernet cable.
Step 7 Disconnect power from the access point.
Step 8 Press and hold MODE while you reconnect power to the access point.
Step 9 Hold the MODE button until the status LED turns red (approximately 20 to 30 seconds) and then release.
Step 10 Wait until the access point reboots, as indicated by all LEDs turning green followed by the Status LED blinking green.
Step 11 After the access point reboots, reconfigure it using the GUI or the CLI.

  • Configuring Cisco Access Points 1602i Air-SAP-1602I-Z-K9

    Hi everyone,
I am having touble configuring cisco access points 1602i. I have configured them and they are broadcasting SSID and clients are able to connect to them, but the only thing which is troublesome is speed. I have 100Mbps bandwidth speed but at access point I am getting speed between 17 to 25. Can anyone please tell me where I am gone wrong.
I have Juniper Srx210 configured as backbone for providing internet on fiber. Then further I have attached one POE switch (managable). From that switch I have attached 4 access points.
One more thing, two ports of Juniper is configured as Vlans, one for staff and one for students. I have attached this POE switch to Student Vlan, but haven't configured ports of POE switch as trunk. Please tell me do I have to configure ports as trunk on POE Switch. Is this the cause of slow bandwidth over access points.
I am also planning to go for Wlan Controller to manage Access points. When I contact my supplier about it, told me the following:
"You just need to convert the Access points to autonomous mode. Here are    some details, there is no additional charge."
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3889653
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html#wp160918
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ_NuxdRhQ4
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-14960
I looked at the links but couldn't understand properly. Then I searched over the internet  and found out that
"a cisco autonomous access point basically runs on its own while a  lightweight access point uses a centralized device called a wireless lan controller to get its configuration.  autonomous access points are managed  individually, while the lightweight access points can be managed centrally.  also, the switchport configurations to support both types of access points will  differ. "
I didn't understand, why he suggested to go for Wlan controller and to upgrade access points to autonomous mode, when according to above finding, it says that autonomous access points runs individually.
    Please advice.
    I shall be thankfull

    Hello Scott and Leo,
    Thanks for all your help.
I have managed to install and configure 4 Access points and Now Access points are giving speed between 25 to 45Mbps. Still not enought but it sloving the purpose. Everyone is enjoying their face book. I will soon get the Cisco Wlan Controller as well. I dont know if there is a way to get more speed from these access points. I am ready to buy more equipments if required.
Anyway, today I need your guys expretise once again. As you know Junipr Srx 210 is configured for fiber internet to provide internet services to school. Now we are changing the building and transfering the line to new building. This time I want to use Cisco router in place of Juniper Srx210. But I need to know what model will support the current configuration for fiber. Would you please tell me what model/series router will be suitable for fiber internet and for implementing other restrictions.
I am attaching a picture of current jiniper Srx 210 for your consideration.
I shall be very thankfull to you
    Sarabjit

  • Can AIR-CAP1602i-x-k9 be converted to stand alone??

can air-cap1602i-x-k9 be converted to stand alone??

Yes , you can convert the AP to stanadlone  by pushig the below image  into the AP
    http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=284366503&flowid=37523&softwareid=284180979&release=15.2.4-JB3a&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=ED&reltype=latest
You can use the below method to convert the same
Using a TFTP Server to Return to a Previous Release
Follow these steps to revert from LWAPP mode to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS release
using a TFTP server: This method is for local conversion.
Step 1 The PC on which your TFTP server software runs must be configured with a static IP address in the range
    of 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.30.
Step 2 Make sure that the PC contains the access point image file (such as c1200-k9w7-tar.122-15.JA.tar for a
1200 series access point) in the TFTP server folder and that the TFTP server is activated.
Step 3 Rename the access point image file in the TFTP server folder to c1200-k9w7-tar.default for a 1200
    series access point.
Step 4 Connect the PC to the access point using a Category 5 or better Ethernet cable.
Step 5 Disconnect power from the access point.
Step 6 Press and hold the MODE button while you reconnect power to the access point.
Step 7 Hold the MODE button until the status LED turns red (approximately 20 to 30 seconds), and release the
    MODE button.
Step 8 Wait until the access point reboots as indicated by all LEDs turning green followed by the Status LED
    blinking green.
    Thanks..

  • Can WLC 4402 support AIR-CAP1602E-S-K9?

    Hi
I had 1 end of life WLC 4402 controller. Can it support AIR-CAP1602E-S-K9 access point? If cannot, what is the supported access points for WLC 4402.
    Thanks

    Hi Steve
Thanks for the reply. Another question if i use the below access point with smartnet and configure as standalone AP. But in future if I want to configure to lightweight AP, can i request the firmware from CISCO TAC to flash the AP and make it lightweight? Thanks

  • Configuring Cisco Air 1142N Access point.

    Hi Guys
I have been struggling to configure a cisco airnet AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 access point.
this is not my first time as I have configured similar accesspoints before.
the access point gets an IP from the dhcp server. I can ping the access point over the network.
However, when I type in the ip in the web browser, nothing comes up. there is no proxy issue.
the console(hyperterminal, connected through serial cable) shows the following error message:
    %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: COULD NOT RESOLVE CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER
    Many thanks

    Hi,
2106/12/25 will support 7.0.xx code. It will also support all existing APs including 3500,1140,1040.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn7_0_116_0.html
I don't think it is EOS atleast does not say on the website :
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps7206/prod_eol_notices_list.html
Deciding on whether you need a WLC or not is upto your budget and what features you need on your Wireless Infrastructure.. If you have $$ to spend I would recommend going in for 2504. If not you can configure them in standalone and you can always buy a WLC based system in future given you only have 3 APs.
If you need IOS code, you can either approach
    1) Your reseller or
    2) Cisco SE
    3) Call TAC support and ask CIN agent to grant access to CCO code based on what you purchased. Also explain your situation.
