Can I configure to always delete the master file?

Hi!
If I want to delete a file, I don't just remove it from the cataloge, but to delete the master file, too.
If I use the remove key, I get the (annoying) pop up, what I want to do: (sorry, I've a german version, so I just try to translate it)
Delete from hard disk
Remove (default selected)
Cancel
Is there any chance to avoid this dialog? Or at least to chance the preselected button, so I've just to use the enter key?

P.S.: I just found out, that ALT+DELETE is a shurtcut to remove the file from the catalog. So it would be greate to have a similar shurtcut to delete the file from the filesystem.

But it is almost the same as CTRL+ALT+DELETE, which has a special meaning in Windows :-(
So there is no way, to get a delete action, that easiliy deletes, without pressing four keys in parallel? :-|
Perhaps, the developers of Lightroom could provide an option, so you get the pop up, but the default action is different. That would be really great.

I can't delete the master file, which is located on my external HD, through aperture

I import a folder to aperture which is stored on my external HD, and keep the originals on the HD. If I try to delete a master file with the option, file-delete master image and all versions, the photo deletes from Aperture, but not my hard drive. I have even tried to delete my trash, but no luck. After you've deleted a file it from the project it goes into Aperture Trash. When you empty Aperture Trash (Aperture>Empty Aperture Trash) you will get a dialogue box asking "Are you sure you want to permanently delete all items in the Trash?" Under this there is a checkbox giving you the option to "Move referenced files to System Trash". If you check this box it will move the master to the system trash, and from there you can permanently delete the file.
All this is to stop you from accidentally deleting work.

Updating iTunes always deletes the data file behind my music in my library

Hopefully, someone can help me. Everytime I update my iTunes, it somehow deletes the data files for my songs even though the song still appears in my library. When I go to listen or sync to my ipod it says it can't find the original data files and so I have to re-load all my CDs again, so I just basically don't update itunes anymore.
Can anyone tell me why this is going on and how I can stop this from happening so that I can update itunes without losing all my songs?

This appears to be a common problem lately on some computers ...try the following:
Disconnect any iPod from the computer
Temporarily remove any hackies or beta apps
Make sure iTunes is in the original Apple install location=Applicatons Folder

Please help!-I deleted the master file

Ok. for the first time I accidentally deleted a sitting from the original file folder. It's not anywhere, not trash, I searched the entire computer, etc.
Is there a way to restore it thru lightroom? I still have the lightroom files but of course they say the filename "IMG_0558" is offline or missing.
Please help. I can't call this client with this huge mistake.

Yes, that is what I normally do. However, this week I lost contact with one entire side of my family due to mental illness (not mine), and then my grandmother passed away as well. Her funeral was just yesterday. This doesn't excuse my failure to back up again but I was no mind to be handeling files and I should not have been. I should have gone to bed instead. I am a responsible photographer, this has never happened in 13 years. I've just had the worst week of that 13 years almost.
It's my own fault, and a mistake that I made. I just need help in trying to fix it if possible.
I'm trying the restoration programs now.

You can set the master password to an empty string to disable/remove a currently set master password.

Is it a USB hard drive? USB hard drives have the problem of not giving full speed if they are hooked up on the same bus as keyboards and mice. Double check your profiler to make sure that is not a problem. If it is Firewire, make sure there aren't other firewire devices in use at the same time. I recommend not only keeping a Time Machine backup, but also a clone, and if you do use Time Machine, to make sure the Time Machine drive or partition is at least twice the size of the original drive.

Evernote: Can I delete the imported file???

If you are a premium suscriber to Evernote, can you delete the original file (i.e., PDF, Excel, ...) that was imported into Evernote or do you need to keep it for future editing, sharing or such?

After I zip a file, should I or can I delete the original files since I'm trying to save space, or do I have to keep the original one?

I'm trying to free some space up on my computer and was going to start compressing as many files as I can. I noticed that when I compress one, I see the new zipped file and then still the original files. So, should I delete the original files after I get the zip file?

But if you're running short of space, consider getting a larger HD for your Mac.

Deleting A Version Without Deleting The Master

I'm still on 1.5.6 (sorry)...I open a version in my external editor and save back into Aperture.
I have created a few versions that I no longer want. When I select "file-delete version" I get a window asking me if I want to delete the master image and all versions. I only want to delete one version and keep my Master.

You are using the right option to get rid of the "version". The reason aperture is giving you this message is because the "version" that you are targeting has been edited in an external editor. These are a bit different that "versions" that are just created with new version from master or duplicate version. If you send an image to an external editor Aperture actually creates a new psd or tiff master from your original master plus any adjustments applied to the version that you are looking at. Aperture then sends this new psd/tiff master to the external editor. So, when you have a few "versions" of the same image that have been sent to an external editor you also have new masters associated with them. If you delete one of those Aperture is telling you that it is going to get rid of the PSD/Tiff with the modifications that you made in the external editor, it is not telling you that it is going to get rid of the original RAW master that you imported.

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. The Windows temporary internet files folder isn't used directly by Firefox. Firefox uses its own cache folder and you can see its current usage on the about:cache page via the location bar.
If anything does show up in the temporary internet files folder then it is likely caused by using MS plugins like the Windows Media Player or Silverlight. You need to clear that folder via IE or the control panel (internet settings).
