¿Can I connect 3 jacks on my mac mini?

Hi, mates.
First of all, I am  new here, and I have a big issue I need help to solve. I have recently bought a MacMini 6.1 (late 2012). With my old PC, I had a Creative 5.1 sound system connected with three different coloured jacks (green, orange and black), as you can see in the image below. As all of you may already know, the MacMini 6.1 has only one audio out. My issue, then, is how to properlly connect those thre jacks into my only MacMini hole. What I have tried so far is connecting the black one: the result, only 2 of 5 speakers sound,  -and the subwoofer doesn't sound neither! I have also tried to connect the green and the organge ones, and then, I can only hear the bass. While searching at home, I have found a little device (second picture below), and I have tried to use it. However, there has been no kind of improvement. ¿What do I need to buy for the subwoofer to sound? I don't really mind if I can get a real 5.1 sound and, to be honest, it doesn't really matter if I don't even get the 5 speakers to work. The minimum I have always wanted is the subwoofer to sound with, at least, two of the 5 speakers. I imagine some of you may think that is stupid to have a 5.1 sound system and only use it as a 2.1, but at this point, I would be really happy only with that. The thing is that I have been searching the web, Google, apple unofficial forums and even this one; but, as far as I am not an expert but a common user, I have understood nothing. ¿Can anyone help me and give me a deffinitive answer, please? You know, I think I need a lot of help. Besides, my pocket is almost empty, so I will have to choose the cheapest option.
Thank you all.

The built-in sound connector on the Mac mini can either output Analogue Stereo, or Digital (Optical) Stereo, or 5.1 or even 7.1.
Your Logitech system is looking for an analague 5.1 setup which the Mac mini itself cannot do.
You need to either use an AV Receiver between the Mac and the Speakers to do the conversion, or get an external sound card for the Mac.
Something like this http://www.hercules.com/us/Sound-Cards/bdd/p/56/muse-pocket-lt/
Historically FireWire devices were used but since some Macs no longer have built-in FireWire I would suggest looking for a USB one.

  • Can't connect iMac/Leopard with Mac Mini/Tiger and vice versa

This one has got me tearing my hair out.
I have an Intel iMac running Leopard and a Mac Mini running Tiger on the same Ethernet network. Both run (adjacent) fixed IP addresses with common subnet mask and gateway. Both access the Internet fine through a single router. But can I share files between the two?
Neither has firewall turned on while file sharing is enabled. I can see each Mac from the other but when I try connecting first I get 'The server may not exist or is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and your network connection and try again.' Then on clicking OK I get 'This file server is running on your machine. Please access the volumes and files locally.'
If I try connecting from Finder using Go - Connect To Server I get this error message 'The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "afp://MacMininame" could not be read or written.'
Although I'm running Leopard on the iMac now, this also used to happen when I ran Tiger too.
    Many thanks - GeoffT.

    Fixed it!
I have Parallels installed on the iMac and it creates two virtual network adapters (Guest-Host and NAT) in System Preferences/Network. For some reason I'd foolishly contrived to manually configure the Nat adapter to the same IP address as the Mac Mini, hence the point-back to the iMac every time.
Guess we're all allowed the occasional foul up.....

  • How can I connect multiple devices to Mac mini display port? I need to connect a Canon 5D to my Mac and display the result on a VGA video projector. I am using mini hdmi to mini display for the camera. Can I connect the VGA to any other port?

Hi there I am connecting a Canon 5D to my laptop trying to use it as a webcam trough camtwist.
At the same time I need to output the streaming to a videoprojector.
The cam is connected to the mini display port do there is no port available for the VGA cable anymore.
Do I need to use a different port for the projector? Should I buy a video card?
Can't connect the camera via USB as that is too slow and it will freeze.

  • Can not connect to google on Mac mini or iPad, says Ido not have a certificate. This problem started after installing latest operating system

Cannot Connect to google on iPad or Mac. Mini says I do not have a certificate. What is the problem and how can I fix it.

I have Maverick on my iMac and haven't noticed any connection or any other issues. Also, that won't have any affect on your mobile devices.
Most likely an issue with your router or isp.
Try rebooting your modem and  router (if applicable)  by unplugging it for 5-10min.
At the same time, reboot mac and both/all mobile devices by pressing and holding both the home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen.

  • Connect dell s2240t to mac mini

can i connect dell s2240t to mac mini and there are any drivers?

    The specs:
    http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=320-97 38
only lists Windows 8 as being compatible. Unless you can find drivers that support OSX, the touch feature will not work.

  • Can I Replace my Early 2009 Mac Mini Hard Drive with my Early 2011 Macbook Pro Hard Drive?

I am replacing my 2011 Macbook Pro Hard Drive with a Solid State Drive.  Instead of keeping the hard drive on an external enclosure I was wondering if I can use it to upgrade my Mac Mini's 160GB hard Drive with the one Im taking out of the MBP.  And if so, is there any special formatting I would need to do?

It should work fine. No special formatting required. It actuality, I suspect that if you connect the HD, the Mini will boot into the OSX that was on the MacBook.
When you replace the HD in the Mini just be careful with the antennas and their wires and connections I accidentally disconnected the wifi antenna on mine when I replaced the HD.

  • The headphone jack on my Mac Mini is putting our distorted audio

Currently, I'm running the audio from my Mac Mini to our brand new digital sound board but we are getting a lot of distorted signal.
It's not a constant distortion and it seems to develop after a few minutes of use.
We run the computer volume no higher than half....so that's not the issue.
We also have changed out the cables several times...so that's not it.
Like I said, the sound board is brand new and so are the powered speakers it's running to.....that's not it.
We also run the signal to a set of wireless speakers from an aux output on the board and get the same issue....
So, it seems that the issue is the audio jack (headphone jack) on the Mac Mini.
    Anyone else had this issue?
    Any solutions?
    Can it be replace?
Should I try an USB interface?

Something you haven't mentioned, have you plugged just
a set of headphones directly into the Mini and get the same
    result?
I ask this as it could be some interconnect issue between the
Mini and other devices (ground loops, loading, etc.).  It still
may not mean that the Mini is not the issue, just trying to
isolate what the issue is.  The fact that the issue is not
immediate, kind of sounds like it may be one of these issues.
As a side note, I have found that ground loops can cause all
manor of strange issues, especially with audio.

  • What kind of mac would I need for Nexflix, basic search and email? Also, sounds silly, but can I connect an HDMI from Mac to tv?

Just an FYI.  The Macs named PowerMac date from early 2006 and before.  Use this tip to discover where to post once you get your Mac:

The cheapest Mac available new is a Mac Mini.   It is no bigger than many an external hard drive.  But the screen and keyboard and mouse must be purchased separately.  They support USB and Bluetooth keyboards and mice, and pretty much any DVI, HDMI, or displayport display.   Although the iMac is certainly an attractive option if all you want to deal with is deciding on a printer.   I still recommend getting an Apple USB keyboard for the occasional times you may need to troubleshoot startup issues.  Normally not a problem, but as it gets older some issues can be fixed at startup or diagnosed at startup.

  • Connecting Logitech Z5500 to Mac Mini or to Airport?

    All,
I have this cable on order (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002JFN1A/ref=pe_385040_30332190_TE_M3T1_ST1_dp_1) to connect my Logitech Z-5500 to my system.
Should I connect it to my Mac Mini, or to my Airport Time Capsule?
Airport: I can stream media from other devices
Mini: Avoid any lag for audio and video with FaceTime, etc.?
Maybe 6 of one, half dozen of another, but thought I'd ask.
    Thanks!

ok, my problem is solved ... I was able to get the display up by unplugging the hdmi cable from the mac mini, then letting it boot up, then plugging the cable back in ... finally could see the desktop, then reset my display settings to get rid of underscanning - which I had set up the day before so I could see my top menu bar - then set my tv's aspect adjustment to HD Size 2 (which had the same effect as underscanning ... and now I get the display up when start my mac mini ... however, I do notice some fine granularity in my display now (when white windows are opened for example), but I'll deal with that later if it's a real problem ... took hours of research to figure this out ... phew ...

  • Mountain Lion appears to break VNC connection to a headless mac mini.

I connect to my headless mac mini with VNC.  Under lion this worked perfectly.  With Mountain Lion on my mac mini I can connect but many windows do not update properly.  If I connect an external display to the mac mini all is well again.  Any solutions?

    I use splashtop.
Able to reach iPad resolution when i connect to my iPad, when the splashtop session ends, it drops back to 800x600.
Maybe you could try it out and see if splashtop helps expand to 2560 x 1600.

  • How can I boot and run my Mac Mini on my 12" PwrBk display using firewire?

How can I boot and run my Mac Mini on my 12" PwrBk display using firewire?

    bwhit:
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
No reason why you should not be able to do it using Firewire Target Disk Mode. Here's what you do:
    1. With both computers shut down connect both via firewire.
    2. Startup the Mini and hold down "T" key immediately after chime.
    3. Startup the PB and immediately after chime hold down Option key.
    4. Select second HDD icon on the screen and click on the right pointing arrow.
    5. Computer will boot from Mini's HDD.
Be sure to shut down PB completely before shutting down Mini.
Please do post back with an update or with further questions or comments.

some times my internet connection will say it has timed out and I can not connect. but my friends mac never has a problem. How can I fix this?

Just confirming, when you have the trouble, the wifi icon is grayed-out or has all bars showing? I believe you are saying that is is grayed-out - not connected to your wireless router.
I have a Mini that started to lose connection to the Internet after the 10.7.3 update but still showed the wireless as connected. If I pinged the wireless router, I would get a quarter of the packets failing to return. The router was a Netgear that supported 802.11N connections. As a test, I set it to 802.11G (54MBps) maximum and the Mini worked fine for a week - no dropouts. And for the other devices that did support 802.11N, while there was a noticeable delay with downloads and pages loading, they still worked.
As another test, I changed the Netgear router to a Billion 802.11N model and the Mini has not had a problems since. (It is still using 802.11g). So it could be your router that is causing trouble for your Mac.
Have a look at some of the More Like This postings in the right column. There has been a number of Mac owners experiencing wifi connection issues and some very good suggestions as to how to resolve their issue.

How many firewire g-drives can I daisy chain on my mac mini

From personal experience, if they are bus powered portable drives,
the answer is none.  For what ever reason, they are draw a lot of
power and are probably near the edge of the bus powering specs.
Then again, these were the fastest of all the portable FW drives that
I have (Iomega and Seagate being the others), which may have
    something to do with it.
I had also noticed an issue with them even with USB.  Plugging one
into the Mini or even a powered USB hub would be fine, but 2 would cause
both to be inaccessible, unless I used a couple of USB "Y" cables
that would distribute the power across other ports.
If they are externally powered, you could string a bunch.
