Hi,
Depending on brand and model of the 5.1 speakers. The machine only has the following list of ports:
Multi-format digital media card reader for MMC and SD cards
1 VGA
1 HDMI
1 headphone-out
1 microphone-in
1 USB 2.0
2 USB 3.0
1 RJ45
That means you only have 1 port for speaker. The best option is to buy an USB sound card.

I recently bought a new MSI GX660R and have read that you can use the headphone socket as a S/PDIF out connection. I have tried to link my laptop to my 5.1 speaker set using a RCA jack but I cannot seem to get any sound out of the system. In fact, my speaker system doesn't even recognise that something is plugged in as i get no speakers or digital symbols on the amp. Does anybody know how to set this up correctly?I have another question regarding the jack connectivity of the GX660R.
Do you know if we can plug a 5.1 headset like ROCCAT™ Kave model.
It seems that the microphone plug and central/subwoofer is the same plug but headset need separate plug in for mic and central

If so it's sad because all other headsets need a soft plugged with usb and this laptop is equipped with a real good soundcard.
Does anybody tried this function?

Airport Utility Can't Connect to Airport Express For Set-up
Hello,
I have a first gen Airport Express and and am setting it up via the Airport Utility on Windows 7.
The Airport Utility sees the new device, which is currently set to factory. When attempting to a connect to do the guided set-up it fails to connect reporting a "error -4". The Airport itself is blinking amber.
The kicker is though, the wifi works just fine. Just the network has a generic name and is unsecured.
How can I get the Airport Utility to connect to the Express so I can estblish a network name and a security key?
Thanks so much!I think it was just a issue with the Airport Windows utility. My girlfriend came over and fixed it with her iPod Touch of all things, took her like 30 seconds to set a name and establish a password. Ive never had a issues setting up a router wirelessly before, in fact many don't even come with software any longer in favor of just instructing you to punch in a special url into a browser.

At the moment I can use my apple Id on my iPod touch to connect to iCloud and IMessage and FaceTime but it doesn't work on App Store & iTunes just on iPod Face to an error: can not connect to iTunes Store. WRE 54G Vissible but can't connect
I have a WRE54G range extender connected to a WRT54G Wireless router. Others are able to connect to the extender and get through to the network with no problem. I can connect to the router, when in range and get to the network with no problems. When out of range of the Router I can see the RE in my wireless network list, but when I try to connect to it it tells me "Windows is unable to connect to the selected notebook. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks and try again." When I refresh the network I still see the RE, but still can not connect. The RE is set to mixed mode on channel 6 with WEP encryption that I have the key for. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks.

Did you use the latest backup after setting it up "as new device"? If yes, try again, this time without using the backup, maybe it contains damaged data causing your problem.
If this does not bring any change, you should get it serviced. -

How can I connect my Mac Book Pro (year 2008) to the TV set through HDMI? I've seen a DVI to HDMI iwire but I'm no sure that it is correct. Could anyone help me? Thank you very much.
I do not know the iWire adapter, but I use an inexpensive ($3) DVI to HDMI adapter from Monoprice, along with a regular HDMI cable:

Be aware that this will only transfer video. You Macbook Pro cannot combine audio through DVI to HDMI. You will need to listen to the audio through the Mac speakers, or attach speakers or a sound system to the Mac earphone jack, or determine if your TV has the ability to accept external sound from the Mac while showing video through HDMI (few can). -
I can not connect to the ITunes store. I have updated my apple ID and made sure that everything is set correctly. However, I can not purchase or update any apps no matter what I do. My partner has the same phone and hers works perfectly. I'm not sure how to sort this out. Please help

AndyI've been having this problem for weeks and have found no solution to it. There are lots of other people with this issue too if you look back on the boards. I even e-mailed AND called Apple and have had no luck. I tried all the suggestions they gave me and all the ones I found on here- nothing worked. I even uninstalled and re-installed iTunes (boy was that a pain!) and no difference.
The weird part is that I have an old laptop that works and if I buy music with the laptop I can download it with my regular computer buy buying does not work on my regular computer. That tells me it's not a connection issue. I can't get to my account either.
I can't figure out why an issue that has kept so many people from purchasing a product has been ignored! -

I have just brought 2 mini's for my boys for xmas. 1. can I connect them both to my existing Itunes account or do I need to set up something different. and 2. can they be used on their dads account as well as mine, or only one?
You can set them up with your Apple ID if you want to. You can also set them up with their dad's Apple ID. Depending on how old the boys are, you can even let then have their own Apple ID's. The one thing that you don't want to do is have them use more than one Apple ID on their iPads.
If you want to be able to share purchased content, then setting them up with either your ID or your husband's (?) ID would be the way to go. If the boys share an ID with one of you, they can download content that you have already purchased without having to pay for it again.
If you and have the financial wherewithal to allow them to purchase their own individual content, I would recommend letting them have their own Apple ID. This way, as they grow older and eventually move on, they will have their own accounts, their own purchases .... No ties needed to your ID or to dad's ID. FaceTime and Messages will be a little easier to set up if they have their own ID's and they can have their own iCloud accounts as well. However, they must be 13 years old in order to have an Apple ID and iTunes account. If they are under 13, then it's a no brainer you will have to use yours or their father's ID.
Whatever you decide to do, just don't switch from one ID to another ID on the iPads. That gets confusing and they could end up locking themselves out of one of the ID's for 90 days if they download a past purchase using a different ID. -
i downloaded the GV app to my iphone but i'm trying to set up the app and it says it can't connect to google when i try to sign in to my google account.... any ideas what's wrong? i can access my gmail account just fine with my gmail app on the same phone

I have a 3rd generation iPod Touch and just did the update to IOS 5. Now I can't connect to my Netgear wifi router. My iPhone connects fine along with all of my other laptops etc. I have the router set with WPA-PSK [TKIP] security and an access list. I've confirmed the mac address is included on that list and that the password is correct. Under choses netwrok I select the network and it just goes into a spin. I have tried removing the password and the access list settings and it still will not complete the connection to the router thus no internet access. The routers firmware is also up to date. This thing worked fine before this update and I've already tried to restore from backup. Any ideas or is the wifi nic bad in this thing with the new apple firmware update? Any fix?
Thanks Bob, I don't know why but it all of a sudden worked a few days later. It's a mystery but at least problem solved.

A friend told me he was able to access my network from a different device with no password so I decided to set up an access control. Following the prompts, I entered my IP address, and then my Airport stopped working. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but got the same thing. The screen I get is that "Airport Utility was unable to find any Airport wireless devices", and askes me if I want to rescan. When I rescan I get the same message. My Airport light is green and my PC recognizes the network, my software just can't connect to it. A friend suggested I entered the wrong IP address (which I found on my computer under "connections", but even after I tried a different one which is supposed to be from the network, I still get the same error message. What am I doing wrong?

The acces control list is where you put in your Mac Address, this is not the same thing as an IP. -
I've been having an issue of connecting to wifi. I have restored and set up my phone as a new one and i still can't connect. Also i have restored my network setting also. The wifi button is still grey and i cant switch it on or off.
