Can I connect my iPod to my stero surround sound?

Can someone tell me how to connect my iPod to my stero surround system if it's possible. Do I need to buy a cable, if so, what?

Can someone tell me how to connect my iPod to my stero surround system if it's possible.
The 5G iPod can be connected directly to any standard A/V component (e.g., video amplifier, TV, monitor, etc.) which employs RCA connectors (composite video and stereo audio). You can use the iPod AV Cable (Part # M9765G/A) which plugs into the iPod earphone jack on one end and to you RCA connectors on the other. Similar cables often come with camcorders or can be purchased from Radio Shack or other outlets. However, be advised that while the Apple cable RCA connectors are correctly color coded for US stereos (i.e., Y-video, R-Rt audio, W-Lt audio), the jack end on the iPod is re-wired differently when used with non-Apple cables. In this case use R-video, Y-rt audio, and W-Lt audio. In addition, if you have the iPod Universal Dock, you can use either the above named iPod AV Cable (or similar cable) or an S-Video cable in conjunction with the audio lines from the AV cable. The advantage here is the ability to leave the base connected to your entertainment system and simply plug in the iPod when you wish to use it with your system. And, if you have a USB Power Adapter, you can even charge the iPod while using it with your system.

  • Can I connect imac to HDMI and also Surround sound also through HDMI using the thunderbolt sockets via an adaptor into a HDMI?

I want to be able to connect my imac to my TV and Surround Sound, from what I have read the best want of doing this is both via HDMI. Before I go out and buy another adaptor for a second thunderbolt to HDMI I was wondering if this would work? I basically I want to be able to stream videos from Imac to TV with sound coming through surround sound and also when I am on itunes have the music come through the surround sound. At the moment I have an adaptor (thunderbolt to HDMI) which goes into the TV and a optical cable from TV into the surround sound, then I also have a 3.5mm from the imac to the Surround sound, but I find this lacks in quailty. Would upgrading to a HDMI work and be better ? Should I also look into an optical cable though I dont see how to connect this to the imac?

OK. From what I can tell here, the Sony HT-SF2000 has 3 HDMI inputs & one HDMI output, so the simplest hookup would be to connect the iMac to one of the the Sony's HDMI inputs via the Thunderbolt-HDMI adaptor, & connect the Sony's HDMI output to the TV's HDMI input.
Use the Sony like an HDMI input selector for the TV (plugging in your other HDMI devices, if any, to it). Use the HDMI input on it from the iMac for both movie & iTunes sound output, & for TV output for video. (You can even use the TV as a second screen for the iMac.)
If for some reason you want a separate input for the iMac's sound output, you can use the optical input on the Sony for that, with a TOSLINK cable connection to the iMac. You will need either a Mini-TOSLINK adaptor or a TOSLINK to mini-TOSLINK cable to connect to the audio output of the iMac.

  • How can I connect my apple TV to my surround sound system without running any extra cables?

I have my Apple TV connected to my TV via HDMI. The TV is connected to an auxiliary box that outputs sound to house speakers. I don't want to run any additional wires because of the distance to my auxiliary box and the fact all my wires now run through the wall. Also the auxiliary box lacks any extra HDMI ports.
On cable, the TV sound plays surround sound, but on the Apple TV sound plays from the TV itself.
Is there any way to alter settings on the TV (LG LB6100 Smart TV) to change the sound source?

if you have a router and set it up for wifi and have ethernet plugged in then point your iPhone to that router and it will connect to the ATV.

Hi, I don't know which Apple ID I used to register my Ipod Nano. I had to restore my Computer and now I can't connect my iPod to iTunes again. I have my serial number and ECID. I'm using Windows, BTW, sorry!

Search your email for the word Logic (and set the search to All) and you should find the receipt (so long as you didn't delete it)
Other than that.. simply contact Apple directly and ask.. Make sure you have your transaction details ready for them as they will need it...

  • Can i connect my ipod classic to my car radio via bluetooth so that I can listen whilst driving?

Can I connect my Ipod Classic to my car radio using bluetooth (or any other way) so that I can listen through my radio whilst driving?

Yes, get an iFM transitter from eBay or Amazon.
Search for Griffin or Monster or just iPod Classic FM transmitter and charger, they are inexpensive less than US$30.
Get one with charger or else you iPod might run out of battery faster.

  • Can I connect n iPod Touch to powered speakers?

I have an old pair of computer powered speakers. Can I connect an iPod Touch or Shuffle directly to the powered speakers? I would like to use the speakers in a garage with the iPod.

The speakers just have the 3.5mm plug.
If this is to plug into the back of a computer to get sound, then yes, just plug it into your touch headphone jack.

Make sure you've got the latest version of iTunes. Other than that, you should be able to just connect both iPods at the same time, if you want.

  • Can I connect my iPod classic or universal dock with optical

Can I connect my iPod classic or universal dock with optical?

Well, no... not at least with the Apple docks.
Optical Audio is also called S/PDIF. It is a purely digital signal designed for specific kinds of home theater and HIFI systems.
The iPod classic does not have such a connection... that being said,  HOWEVER
There are some iPod docks that use S/PDIF out.

  • Can't connect my IPOD touch to WRT300n

I just got a IPOD touch and I can not get it to connect to my WRT300n router. I have it set up for WEP 128bit security. My IPOD keeps finding my network but then asks for a password. I enter the password and it does not work. I am assuming this is because of my WEP security. Everything else in my house that is wireless (laptop, 2desktops, 6 gaming systems) all required me to enter in the WEP key to be able to connect them to the router. The IPOD does not ask for this key so I don't know what to do. I don't feel I really need the security setting. If I can not connect the IPOD with the WEP, how do I change my security setting from WEP to none? Any help with this would be appriciated. As I see it right now i just bought a $200 IPOD and if I can not even connect to my own home network for internet it is just a expesive peice of junk.

Login to the Linksys Setup Page by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar..Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the Wireless tab...Here Wireless Network mode should be mixed. And Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz... Click on "Save Settings"...
Click on Advanced Wireless SettingsChange the Beacon Interval to 75, Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304, Click on "Save Settings"...
Also try to lower down the security to WEP 64-bit under wireless security.
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Can't connect my iPod Touch! :(

I can't connect my iPod touch to my iTunes. I updated to a newer version (10.0), but everytime I try to hook up my iPod it tells me I need version 8.0 or later. How do I get an older version? Or update my iPOd?

been here for 2 and a half hours now trying all the crap that emanates from this support site and nothing works. I have re-installed itunes 3 times including 2 complete clean outs as per this sites directions. THe ipod touch with 4.0 software will not sync with itunes 10. THe windows system recognises the ipod but itunes doesnt. I get a message when I connect the ipod that it needs software re-installing which i have tried to no avail. The system worked fine till the last update of the itunes software. THere is no USB link showing on the computer to an ipod in the services stuff deep within windows and right now I would happily take this stuff and bin it were it not for my daughter wishing to have just one thing from apple that for once worked.
