By the way, there are literally hundreds of online fax services, some of them quite reasonable in prices. I have to tell you that faxes have become antiquated for business purposes. If you have a scanner, emailing a pdf file is easier to read. But if you just must fax it, just scan it, then you can use an online fax company.
I have to admit that I'm in business, and I have a fax machine that I haven't used in 2 years. It's just a printer/scanner. Even attorneys now only require signature pages to be faxed, but now you scan and email that.
I agree with this, but some businesses are still antiquated.... such as certain schools you may want to send transcripts to or certian states that need supplements to your tax return filing. There are definately still a few occasional reasons why someone might need to fax something.
I'm not sure where you're located, but in this country you're not allowed to send your own transcripts to colleges. And you're not allowed to file taxes by fax (because they need to be machine readable). But we can do most of it online, unless it's highly complex.
I read an article that if you're looking for a job in high technology and your resume has a fax number on it, employers almost always automatically reject you.
Anyways, I wasn't criticizing, I was just saying that giving you an alternative to an expensive solution.

Acrobat XI Pro performance with new Intel Core M processor
EDIT 21-Feb-2015: the issue seems to be with the power limitation of the new Intel Core M Broadwell processor. Enabling it in "full performance" mode significantly increases the performance. Nonetheless, in whichever power mode the computer is set, Microsoft Reader has no issue with any of the operations listed below.
Hi,
I'm running Acrobat XI Pro on Windows 8.1 64-bit with high-res display (3200x1800, Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro), which uses the new Intel Core M Broadwell processor.
Zooming in and out and panning on the main application is very laggy, and full screen is EXTREMELY laggy. Also very noticeable delays in scrolling and page to page.
The computer is brand new, out of the box, no viruses or other software dragging the system down. Also, if I open the same files on the Microsoft Reader app, there is no lag at all in doing these operations.
I have found on the forum that some people have had lag and disabled Protected View and Enhanced Security. However, Protected View is not enabled on my installation, and disabling Enhanced Security has no effect.
Right now I would say that the zoom/pan performance is worse even than on Reader on a 5 year old Windows XP machine I tried to compare to.
Is there some other settings in Acrobat XI that could cause this issue?
Thanks!
P.S. I couldn't find a more appropriate group other than "Acrobat Installation & Update Issues" as I didn't find a troubleshooting group or anything like that, but can re-categorize.Hi Antonio,

Does itunes work with the new intel core duo processor?
i want to go buy a new laptop and the one I have in mind has the new intel core duo T2300 or the T2400 processor. Can i still download itunes onto this computer? Does it meet the requirments becuase the download page says you need a pentium or BETTER? The new macs are putting them in their computers, but will the windows and intel duo be able to support the itunes application?
are you asking if it is compatible meaning will it
install/run or are you asking if flash is
optimized to take advantage of this particular setup?

Can't connect my new iPhone 4 with internet via Time Capsule. IP4 recognized TC but will not connect with it. (Password etc. is ok)
Do the usual wireless things.
Change the wireless name to simple name with only alphanumerics and no spaces.
Set to manual and use channels 1, 6, 11 in turn.
For testing take off the security altogether.
The iphone only works on 2.4ghz so only that band is relevant. -
can the 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 in a mid2011 27" iMac be up graded to the 3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
Yes, but it isn't easy. Read http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r27364872-iMac-CPU-Upgrade and the links in there before starting that project.

I have the following Apple Computer: Dual 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4, 2 MB per processor. Can I put install new Intel Xeon processors in place of the current ones to bring my Mac up to the MacPro standards and, if so, can I then install the new Mac software (Lion)?
As has been clearly stated, no, no, and no.
If such an upgrade were possible, it probably would be more money than it would be worth.
If you're running a G4 (dual-processor even) you can pick up a used Mac mini (intel that is, and something from 2010 or newer would be the best bet) that will be screaming fast compared to a G4.
Once upon a time, processor upgrades were not only possible, but a good deal, and a relatively inexpensive way to get more life out of your Mac. I upgraded a G3 tower to a G4 for few hundred dollars, and I was glad I went that route at the time. Finally, CPU upgrades, at least as far as I know, aren't available anymore. -

Can I add a New Folder to existing Business Area with Command Line?
Hi,
Can I add a New Folder to existing Business Area with Command Line in Discoverer (java or executable)? I am trying to do this with /load...
/connect walkep_apps/walkep@smpdev1
/load Visualizations /eul walkep_apps /user smp_naps_apps /object VISUAL_20K /capitalize /remove_prefix /insert_blanks
/aggregate DETAIL /show_progress
... but this creates a new business area, "Visualizations 1", which is not what we want! We want to add the VISUAL_20K to the existing "Visualizations" business area. Many thanks in advance.

How can I put my iMac intel core 2 duo in 64bit mode
I have an iMac model 7.1 that has an Intel core 2 duo so shouldn't I be able to make it run in 64 bit mode? How? I am in 10.6.8 and it locks too often to be used. I tried the Terminal sudo systemsetup -setkernalbootarchitecture x86_64 but the Terminal said it wasn't a valid command, what can II do to get back to work and not have to buy a PC?
Hi Mike, my head exploded too around page 50. I had bought a used iMac from an official Apple reseller here in Holland. It had an old 250GB HD that was 2/3 full, I had to get my Apple software Logic pro 9 into the iMac, I had, in 10.5 been doing that by booting from an external 1TB HD. Many developers won't allow downloads to external HD's,music software developers I meant. SO the external was a working solution until Jobs died and the company changed policies. The Fire Wire which Jobs had gotten started was working beautifully and since I have many "music Sample libraries" which must be able to throw into a song whatever I tell Logic to use, it worked much better having the libraries on external HD's[all Fire Wire 1TB] so they could effortlessly stream the music samples into logic SIMULTANEOUSLY, since Snow Leopard they have all been trying to stream from the same single external boot HD and that doesn't work well in Logic Pro. I was getting the locked screen that almost everyone on these 77 pages[you are late to this but the original thread had reached 77 pages when I found it] was complaining about, I decided[no idea why] to try booting from the internal HD, even though it doesn't contain the music software I use for work. It boots fine and shows no signs of locked screen or crazy graphics, but I can't do my job from a 250GB internal HD. I am going to the Apple store today to ask the price of installing a new 1TB internal Hd and more RAMM, 4GB's in music streaming is a bit wimpy, and a nephew of mine wrote to me with a link to OWC and said look you can now buy two 3GB sticks of SDRAMM that will work in your old iMac, so that would settle the problems of a 4GB RAMM limit. I don't have the time or money to buy and set up a new mac with only one FW800 port,I can't just replace 4 1TB external HD's with new USB 3's, so having this old girl upgraded would be the only solution for me. I am glad to hear you can boot SL from an external, there must have been something else that was causing the problems but I have to work and ******* around with a locked up screen means no income. This iMac has a core 2 duo, not a core duo, kbHT3696, yes I just checked thats the right number, I posted a wrong number before, sorry, although searching the topic here would get you to that article which explains that my core 2 duo can be 64 bit,I even held down the 64 keys when booting this morning to see if it really was a core 2 duo and it worked,I am in 64 bit,but when I attached the external with the music software the screen locked again making me hold in the start button to shut it down, there is something there SL doesn't like but I have no time to mess with what SNow Leopard wants,it is supposed to be working for me,not the other way around, all clear now?

Recently had a system fail and would like to build a new system. I've been torn between waiting on the new Intel Haswell CPU's vs either the Intel Core i7-3770k or Intel Core i7-2600K.
I'm looking for system for multi use. I have been doing scuba diving video on Premier Pro and may look towards a new camera down the road.
Your comments are appreciated.Just a final note: I've decided to go with the processor that so many like in this forum. The PC will be for multi use.
Intel Cor i7-3930K Hexa-Core Processor 3.2 Ghz LGA 11
Corsair Vengeance 32 GB 4x8GB
Noctua NHY-D14 Quite Cooler
Asus P9X79 Pro LGA 2011 Intel X79
Windows 8 Pro OEM
SamSung Electronics 840 Pro Series 256 GB
Cooler Maxter HAF XM - Mid tower Case
LG Electronics 14x Sata Blue-ray Internal Rewriter
Gigabyte GTX 650 Ti Boost GDDR5-2GB
2 Seagate Barracuda 1 TB HDD Sata 6 Gb/s
Existing Drives that I would like to encorporate into the new system:
WD Raptor 500 GB
2 Samsung 1 TB HDD Sata 3 GB/s
1 Samsung 1 TB HDD Sata 3 GB/s
I am now looking for some direction on configuration of the drives. I could purchase additional drives.
I am still thinking about the mid tower case. I have a number of old videos of scuba diving trips that I can store on external drives. My space under a glass desk involves a smaller metal bracket which I can remove. I have thought of a full size case and if so would like roller wheels on the bottom of the case.
Thank you for your input. -
