Can I connect to an OracleDB via an Android app?

Hi,
I originally resurrected an old long-finished forum thread and attempted to hijack it away for my own issue but a kind forum moderator has split my question away so that it might stand on its own merits (or not). I'll try to remember for the future that if I have a question, I should always make my own new forum post.
That thread was ...
Exception when connecting to an OracleDB via an Android app
Is that possible to connect to other DB from android. I m a trainee and I m trying to connect android with other DB's except SQLite.. if so can anyone explain 1. how to do that, and
2.what are the DB's can be connected with android...
3.What is the concept behind to work it out...
pls explain it a bit detail, as i m learning it would be easier for me to understand the concepts in better way.

Same as what I said in the other thread.
Either there is an IP stack or there isn't.
If there is then you have the same problems with IP stacks as with a desktop in that it must have connectivity from the client to the database. Other than that you just use a JDBC (java only) driver.
If there is no IP stack then you MUST look for another solution or look into creating your own solution (if possible.)

  • Exception when connecting to an OracleDB via an Android app

    Hi everyone,
I am coding an Android app. This app has to get datas from an Oracle DB available on the LAN. So, I use JDBC to connect to the database. (ojdbc14.jar added in my Android Project). I've made 2 classes : OracleDB with the following code (http://pastebin.archlinux.fr/432146) and the "launcher class", JDBCAndroid, with that code : http://pastebin.archlinux.fr/432148.
The program, when it's a simple Java Project is able to connect to the database ; but in an Android Project, as you can see in the pastebin of the JDBCAndoid, there is "some" Exception from the driver.
    In particulary, this one :

Could someone help me to fix this ? Finally, is it possible to connect to an OracleDB from an Android app ?
other details : the server is an Oracle 10g 10.2, and the driver is ojdbc14.jar (version corresponding with the version of the server).

That IP is a private IP.
This app is very particular. It'll be use only in a restricted LAN (with the database Oracle in this LAN). So, no connection by the Internet to the database. That's why webservice is not the good solution for me. The direct connection to the OracleDB is, I think, the best solution, but I've to fix this problem...Since I haven't done any mobile programming I can't be sure but that looks extremely unlikely to me.
A mobile/cell doesn't connect to a local network. It connects to a service provider which does a redirect, via the internet. Thus a local (private IP) connection cannot work. (That is what the 'data' fee is for.)
Now if and only if the mobile has a true wireless modem in it then it would need to connect to a lan wireless router which itself was set up to do a local redirect. So two points of failure there: the wireless modem and the lan router. If either is not set up then it will fail.
And if you have a wireless modem on your dev box then you can test the connectivity from there to the database just as the mobile would. To be safe yank your network cable before testing.

  • After iTunes update, can't connect to remote speakers via Airport Express

I updated to iTunes 10.1.2.17 the other day, and ever since then, I can't connect to my stereo via my Airport Express. I get this message: "An error occurred while trying to connect to the remote speaker 'Airport Express'. The network connection failed."
My Airport Express firmware is up to date and I have not changed any settings since the iTunes update.
Anyone else have/had this problem? Any ideas?

I run Vista and I had the same problem after updating to the latest version of iTunes: Apple TV would indicate "Loading Library" for ever and nothing would happen. This had never happened before.
I tried different tricks like turning on/off home sharing on both iTunes and Apple TV (didn't work), unplugged/plugged Apple TV (didn't work), restore Apple TV (didn't work).
Eventually the solution was actually very simple: go to Firewall settings and make an exception for iTunes. I don't know why that was not necessary before the update, but it made the trick.

  • Dear Community, how can I connect SCSI tape recorder via USB to iMac ? Is there any adapter/converter on the market now ? Cheers, Marek

    Dear Community,
how can I connect SCSI tape recorder via USB to iMac ?
Is there any adapter/converter on the market now ?
    Cheers, Marek

    Thanks Jan.
Actually the reason to use Quantum SCSI tape recorder is to back-up big amount of data (propriety movies footage) both on PC (what is quite easy, using SCSII host adapter with VHDCI 68 connector) and iMac what seems to be not easy. All my search by Google leads to that conclussion, they finished production of SCSI-to-USB or FireWire because somebody stopped to produce chips to covert protocols. So even buying noe second-hand adapter, no guaranty it's still working with Lion (nobody is developing drivers anymore). Strange is, nobody or just a few are using SCSII (Ultra 320) devices (while the transfer is not bad, 320 MBps what is 2560 Mbps, so the only limitation is tape recording (some 80 MBps) not an interface. Using compression mode I can (and I do) record 1,6 TB of footage data. However quite slow, is safe and cheap, comparing with any HD storage solution. USB 2 is much more limited.
I'm using Time Capsule for buck-up. But even 3 TB one day will be full of data, then old back-ups will be eaten by new once, what is not good idea for archives. I'm using another 2TB NAS HD (2x2TB RAID 1), but this is also going to be full soon.
Of course, you are right, the option is another machine (OSX,Win,Linux or Solaris) equipped with SCSII controller. But this requires another machine, just for back-up time to time, and in practice iMac folders must be shared with that small auxiliary machine because amount of data practically excluding even temporary data collection on auxiliary machine. And it must be transfer by wire, not WIFI, my only network. Tape recording is in my case really good, professional solution, isn't it?
Anyway, if somebody has similar requirements as me, and found the solution for SCSI, please let me know. So far, follow Jan's idea, I'm thinking about some embeded mini PC, fanless, equipped with slot for SCSI, with SOME smart system on-board, to deal with iMac for type recording. The option is previous Apple model, but to be honest, I became Mac/OSX user 4 years ago. I fell in love with Mac, but my knowledge about previous models is based on Google....
My desk becomes full of boxes. Do you know how big Quantum TC-L42BX is ? Is very big. And now another box.....another keyboard....another screen... And one small adapter could solve the problem. Eh....
    Best regards,
    Marek

  • Hello my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi

Hello to all, with my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi. This only happens if I apply protection to the network. Unprotected my Iphone connects fine. Obviously the password to write error-free. I can not figure out what depends on this factor, however, another iphone connects fine. Help me please.

I have a similar, but slightly different problem. My iphone 4 recgonizes my home wifi and shows it under Settings, but will not access it, no signal shown, just 3G.  It will access other wifi signals.  My wife's iphone works fine, as does an ipad and macbook.  This is new for my iphone, about 2-3 days.
Help!  I reset network settings and rebooted the router (Apple), no avail

  • How can I connect to a VPN via PPTP?

    Hello,
I am a foreigner living in Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi Province, in China. I bought my macbook the summer of 2006. It still works perfectly except I cannot connect to the internet here at the university.
The internet here is split into two parts: local, and international. The ethernet connection allows me to access Chinese websites, but nothing else. It sounds counterintuitive but really, that's how it is. In order to get the rest of the world, all computers have to connect to a VPN via PPTP. Once this is established, viola, you have internet.
My problem is I cannot seem to connect to the VPN. I have used Internet Connect, I have created a VPN via PPTP, and put in all the right numbers...
    the VPN IP is 202.207.128.115
    the username is tyut
    the password is tyut
But when I try to connect, it just says it can't. Nobody at the university has been helpful because they've never used a Mac before, and besides which, they aren't used to using a computer in English.
Can anyone help me? Or does anyone know how to get in touch with Apple Services in China (in English)?

Yeah, but that's not the problem here. I'm an English teacher at Taiyuan University of Technology (the irony does not escape me). The other teachers have PCs and can get full internet in their apartment. Since I have a mac, it's much harder for the school technicians to help me.
This is what my log says from the VPN connection (which does connect now.)
    Mon Oct 29 16:05:52 2007 : PPTP connecting to server '202.207.128.115' (202.207.128.115)...
    Mon Oct 29 16:05:52 2007 : PPTP connection established.
    Mon Oct 29 16:05:52 2007 : Using interface ppp0
    Mon Oct 29 16:05:52 2007 : Connect: ppp0 <--> socket[34:17]
    Mon Oct 29 16:05:52 2007 : local IP address 172.30.1.252
    Mon Oct 29 16:05:52 2007 : remote IP address 172.30.1.2
But I still can't load any pages from the VPN connection, just the regular ethernet connection (local internet). It doesn't work if I use IP addresses instead. :-/ I unselected "send all traffic over the VPN connection" because if it's selected, I don't even get local internet.
Looking online I found a possible fix, but it's for Windows XP. I don't know how to find the same settings on the Mac...For Windows XP:
    1. Click Start -> Control Panel
    2. Click on the Network and Internet Connections icon and then click "Network Connections". If your Control Panel is in classic view, simply double click the "Network Connections" icon.
    3. Right click on the new VPN connection and select Properties
    4. Select the "Networking" tab
    5. Verify that Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is highlighted
    6. Click on the Properties button
    7. Within the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties window, click on the "Advanced..." button. Within the Advanced TCP/IP Settings window, REMOVE the check mark next to "Use default gateway on remote network"
    8. Click "OK" to close all open windows
Where would the "default gateway on remote network" be on a Mac?

  • Can I connect two actiontec mI424wr via coax?

I have a new addition in my home, with an home entertainment area with poor reception from my current actiontec router.   I have acquired a second Actiontec off eBay that I want to connect to my coax in the new addition so I can add some "wired" ethernet connections to the xbox, sling, blu-ray etc.   I have seen many posts about a MOCA bridge, but I am not sure that is really what I a trying to do.   I have an existing Actiontec, that is controlling the menus and VOD for my TV service.   I just want to connect the second router via coax so I have faster and reliable internet in this new addition as well.   Help!  I am somewhat technically savvy, and can follow config instructions, but not a networking expert.     Thanks.

The MoCA bridge is exactly what you want.   While you can reconfigure the second ActionTec to essentially act as a MoCA bridge (there are links here on the forum as well as DSLreports on how to do it), I would encourage you to just go with the bridge as it's much simpler (there is no configuration required).
Simply install the MoCA bridge (ActionTec HME2200/ECB2200) and connect it to an active Coax connection in your addition.  It will pair with the primary ActionTec router elsewhere in the home.   Then, if you have more than one device that needs connected, get a small switch (not router) online -- should run you less than $20 for a 5 or 8 port unit -- and connect it to the MoCA bridge and all of your devices -- again, no configuration required.
If you decide you really want to use the router instead, you essentially need to disable all of the WAN interfaces (so it doesn't fight with your primary router trying to get an internet address) and then disable the LAN features such as the DHCP server so that it essentially acts as a MoCA bridge with 4 port switch.

  • Can't connect to Report Server via Management Studio

    Hi,
I have a local installation of SQL Server 2005 (Developer Edition) on XP Professional SP2, with Reporting Services, Integration Services, and Analysis Server installed.
I can connect to Integration Services and Analysis Server via the SQL Server Management Studio, but not to the Report Server. I can access and use the Report Server installation via http://localhost/Reports and http://localhost/ReportServer, and everything checks out on the Reporting Services Configuration tool, so the server appears to be working fine.
I've uninstalled/re-formatted/reinstalled the services (with all default options, and services running as "Local Service"), but always end up with the following error when connecting to Report Server via Management Studio:

  • Can't connect to my phone via bluetooth from windows 8.1

I have just bought a Lenovo G50 laptop but it can't find my samsung GT-S5830i via bluetooth.
It will connect to my old laptop though.

You are not able to connect phone to laptop via Bluetooth, to resolve the issue you can try troubleshooting steps given in below link

  • I can't connect to Windows Server via FTP

I've been using FTP for about 13 years and it works fine on Apache servers but can't connect to a windows Server via my Fetch FTP program. The site owner sent me a screenshot and copied/pasted the password so I know I have the info correct. It is still giving me errors.
Is there a special method to connect to Windows server via FTP?

    Hi Lorel,
    Try FileZilla...

  • Can't connect to WebDAV server via Go:Connect to Server

Setting up remote access on a ReadyNAS duo (posted over in NetGear's forums, too, but this seems more like an Apple issue), using WebDAV.
I can connect via a browser, but can't connect from the finder.
I'm using an address in the format https://0.0.0.0/directoryName -- I get a dialog for user and password, and it correctly authenticates, but then immediately gives me the following error: "You cannot connect to this server because it cannot be found on the network. Try again later or try a different URL."
    Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Addendum: Just found this thread over in Finder/Dock:

Looks like it's been around for a WHILE and hasn't been fixed...

  • Can't connect to AFP server via Finder sidebar

Suddenly I can't connect to my server from the sidebar.
Guest access works. But my default user login returns "Connect failed".
I can connect via 'Connect to...' and type in the IP adres.
I can connect via iPad with a file sharing app (like ezShare)
    The console returns:
Jul 29 04:54:39 myComputer NetAuthSysAgent[774]: AFP error -5014 mapped to EIO
    Jul 29 04:54:39 myComputer Finder[282]: SharePointBrowser::handleEnumerateCallBack returned 5
I've tried temporary deleting the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration folder... no help.
    Any ideas?

    Try this:
    Uncheck Remote Management
    Check Screen sharing
    Add user(s)
When finished check the remote management again.
It has something to do with updating / resetting the cache files...
    It worked for me.

(PS, i found it by coincidence. I had the same trouble and was "playing" with these settings
    which resolved the other problem..

  • Mini can't connect to the internet via ethernet bridge

I installed a Netgear WGPS606 (It's a print server and wireless ethernet bridge) on my home wireless network. Here's the Configuration: DSL connected through a Linksys BEFSR41 DSL/Cable router with 4 port switch. My Graphite Airport base station connects to one of the ports on the switch, and it serves the wireless computers on the network. The WGPS606 is connected wirelessly to the Airport Base station. I have a MacMini connected to one of the ethernet ports on the WGPS606. The Mini successfully gets its IP address from the DHCP server on the Airport. (Interestingly, the Airport's DHCP server is configured to provide addresses for airport clients, not ethernet clients, but it does provide an IP address for the Mini -- I assume because the mini is connected through the wireless bridge.) I can see and connect to the Mini via the local network, but the Mac Mini cannot connect to the internet.
    Any clues?
    Mark

Never mind. I gave up on the Netgear print server and bought a second AirPort Express and set up a WDS network. Everything works like a charm. That's the last time I waste nearly a day of my time to save $30 bucks on a piece of hardware.

  • Can't connect macbook to internet via usb

I connect to the internet via the ethernet connection when i'm away at college and that works perfectly. But when I try to connect up at home via the usb connection from our broadband it doesn't recognise any internet connection.
Do I need to change settings or something like that?

Jsut to clarify: Are you able to access the router's Administration UI from a browser on the server itself? If so, that rules out a configuration issue (at least with the type of link) with the computer and the router. Are other computers attached to the router able to get online at the same time? What DNS servers is the Windows Server 2008 machine using?
