The only information that your phone is capable of getting from satellites is GPS data for positioning and navigation.

  • Can't connect to ichat via gmail account

    Hi!
I can't connect to ichat via gmail account.I created a new account via Preferences window in ichat settings but still can't do it. A pop-up window is shown and it asks to enter a password as ichat cannot log in on my gmail account.I know that i enter a correct password.  has anubody such a problem? how can i find out if it is a problem with the password, or my account name.

    Hi,
    1) The Google Talk option needs to be Enabled in your Google settings.
    2) The name (ID) you enter in Messages or iChat needs to be exactly as you see it when you are logged in to the Google Mail web page.
(there is a difference between @gmail.com and @googlemail.com IDs)
    3) If you are using the Specific App password method you need to correct password.
    4) In the server Settings (App Menu > Preferences > Accounts > Google Account > Server Settings) try setting port 443 if the 5223 one is not working.

  • Can't connect to internet via MacBook Pro to Airport Extreme

I can't connect to internet via MacBook Pro to Airport Extreme. I reset AE and modem (power down and back up again). Some computers on my home network will connect fine and others won't. The ones that won't don't populate the DNS server or the Search Domains. AE shows up on all the machines. I have one computer also connect to AE via ethernet and it has the same symptoms. Why do some Macs connect and others don't. Even when I get them to connect when I shutdown or put in sleep mode over night I lose the internet connection and have to start all over. Very frustrating.

Regrettably no replies. I have struggled with this for days with no success and I have given up on the Airport Extreme. I have found several other Forum posts with very similar problems and no one seems to have a solution to this. It seems other wireless routers work better than the Apple product. I was able to get my old Linksys wireless router reset and it is set up and working well. The Linksys router does populate the DNS servers and domains where as the AE does not. Apple engineers should look into this. If I am mistaken and there is a fix for this someone please let me know, otherwise my AE will probably appear on Ebay very soon.

  • Can't connect to email via POP3 since outage in my area

We had an email outage in my area that started 8/26.  It has been fixed according to support.  I can access my verizon.net email using web client, but cannot connect via POP clients.  Authentication fails.  Any ideas?

BTW it would be nice if the driver update scanner actually worked on the HP website.

  • Can only connect one laptop via AEBS wifi

i was able to use my internet service with my Apple Airport Express Base Station (AEBS) for months without any problem and it was capable of simultaneous internet sharing (via wifi) among 3 laptops without the need to enter / directed to the internet provider's portal per connection (to enter account number and service reference number for authorization - works like a username and password for the connection)
not until their so-called "network upgrade" as stated by my internet provider's tech support - I am now only able to connect a single laptop via the AEBS
attempting to connect the other 2 laptops simultaneously with the 1 laptop on wifi connection was unsuccessful
can not connect more than one laptop to my internet service through the AEBS simultaneously
and whenever one laptop tries to connect to my internet service provider (via AEBS), you are immediately directed to the internet service provider's portal to enter your Account Number and Service Ref Number - you have to go through this every time you want to connect
i have already reset the settings of the AEBS and still, the problem persisted
any ideas on how to resolve this issue? is the problem with my internet service provider or my AEBS?
    thanks in advance

Sounds like they've done something to stop more than one computer sharing the internet connection. It's possible that they've done this to prevent unauthorised access (by neighbours, etc.), but it's also possible that they've done it to stop people sharing one account - an attempt to get more customers to pay extra?
I'd be tempted to look for a new ISP if they can't help.

  • 10.4.5 - mac mini can't connect to network via airport since upgrade

I've been experiencing problems since upgrading to 10.4.3. Mainly, I've noticed that I can't easily connect to our wireless home network all the time. The pattern has been that I start by shutting down my computer completely. When I start up it again, it can't connect to the network. I have to create a new profile and then it will connect. That was buggy, but at least I found a hack. However, since upgrading to 10.4.5, I can't connect to our home network at all. The Internet Connect application says that I am connected to the base station, however I can't connect to the outside world via a shell, browser or email application. Our network is secured with a WEP and the base station is a D-Link. I searched the forums for some tips, but didn't find anything. Pointers appreciated.

Be very careful about the sequence you do it. You must make sure that the airport connection is turned off (i.e. the airport menu icon looks more like a profiled eyeball without the iris than a series of lines like the towers of hanoi). Then create a new location in the Airport network preference, and make sure that these settings are there under Options
    1. Keep looking for recent networks
    2. Automatically add new networks to the preferred network list.
    3. Change the status of Enable interference robustness.
And by default, join preferred networks in the Airport location.

  • Can't connect to wireless via Airport - Other's on my network can though :/

I woke up this morning to no internet on my mac. I usually use Airport, and it usually automatically connects, but today it made me type in my WEP key again, so I did, and still no internet. I have FiO's so I went on Verizon's chat service and they said it wasn't the Router because my xbox, other pc's, etc - were connected via wireless network, so it had to be my mac. Everytime I try to connect, it picks up the wirless network, I type in my WEP key and the Airport icon get's 5 bars, but then when I open up my browser, an exclamation comes up over the sign and it says "No internet connection". Just a little side note, it said that the airport doesn't have an IP address, and sometimes it say's it does, but because it was automatically assigned, it can't connect. Also, the DNS tab, under System Preferences > Network > Advanced, shows no ip's it's just all blank. I have a 2007 Macbook. I called up Apple and before I could even tell them my name, they told me I was un-eligible for help and hung up on me, great people they are. If I could, I would take this mac back and get my $1150 I paid for it, back. So now this is my last resort. Please post if you have any idea how to fix this. By the way: I am on an ethernet cable, so the internet and wireless obviously works. It has to be my mac, right?

I was having the same problem with the wifi not connecting to our home network on only one of our Macbooks.  It kept giving itself a self assigned ip address.  Everything else would connect fine to the home network and the computer with the problem connected fine to every other network aside from our home wifi.  After reading this thread and trying everything on it, this is what finally fixed it:  I didn't have anything under the 802.1x tab either.  So I:
Turned the Airport off and completely deleted the Airport in network preferences.
Then I went to keychain access and deleted EVERY wifi network password saved under both Login and System.
I turned the computer off and removed the battery and did the SMC reset by holding down the power button for 5 seconds.
When I restarted the computer, I reset the PRAM by holding down OPTION, COMMAND, P, and R at the same time RIGHT AFTER I pushed the power button to turn it on and before the grey screen appeared.
It reset and when the computer was back on, I added the airport again and joined my home WEP wfi network.  It worked perfectly!  Now I don't know if all of these steps are required to fix the problem but this is what worked for me.  The Macbook with the problem was a black Macbook running 10.6.8.  Good luck!

  • Can't connect to Internet via Airport

I have a PPPOE ISP account. Before upgrade to Lepoard, just fine. Now I can only connect to internet using cable via my router moderm. I cannot connect my wireless router.
The wireless router will appear to be connected but it said self assigned IP. If I hardcode an IP eg. 192.168.11.2 to it. The Airport status will become connected but still cannot dial into my PPPOE account. An message no PPPOE service will appear. But if I plug in the LAN cable, everything work fine. Why this happen? My wireless router work fine with my Window XP and my Mac (before upgrade to Lepoard) What configuration should I change? I am an idot to networking. I have download all patch and has tried boot to safe mode etc.
    Anyone can help?

By power downs do you mean Sleep?
One thing that might work is to set the IP to Static in Network>Configure IPv4>DHCP with Manual Address.

  • MacBook Pro can't connect to iPod via wireless

    Hi,
I have a fresh installed Mac OS X 10.5.5 on my new MacBook Pro.
Nothing was installed on it! no firewall, nothing! But i can't get connection to my iPod touch 2g.
I can see my iPod via bonjour, it has an IP, but i can't successful ping it. When i start the application "Remote" on my iPod, i can see it in iTunes, can't connect to itunes either.
What's wrong? On my other macbook i have no problem at all.
    Thank you very much

I am having the same issue. If I plug an Ethernet cable into my Late 2008 MBP, I can connect to my iPod touch using any of the several apps, like Remote, AirSharing, 1Password, etc.
However, I cannot connect to the ipod using the MPB's airport. Like the peter2k, I can't even ping the iPod. Other laptops on the same network can wireless connect and ping my ipod just fine.
This is driving me nuts! Btw, prior to getting this laptop, I had an Early 2008 MBP that I used to connect to my ipod touch. I did a migration to this new MBP, but it has never been able to connect.

  • Can not connect the database via query string (C#). The SQL Server Management Studio is showing the full path of a location instead of database name.

I can not connect to the database via C#. The database is showing full path of the database file instead of the database name. See the pic: a database showing only name 'emart' and the other database showing the full path.
    : Robby

    Hi,
According to your post, I know that the database name is showing file path of the database rather than the database name in SQL Server Management Studio. You were not able to
establish a connection to the database using C#.
As Olaf said, was any error message thrown out when the connection failed? How did you create these databases?
You can use the following T-SQL to attach the database and see if the issue persists.
    CREATE DATABASE
    databasename
        ON (FILENAME = 'filepath _Data.mdf'),
        (FILENAME = 'filepath_Log.ldf')
    FOR ATTACH;
    Thanks.

  • HH4 - can't connect to it via ethernet or wireless

I'm struggling with intermittent fault - it happened on a HH3, but same problem is now beginning to repeat on a replacement HH4 I was sent.
When fault manifests itself (lets call it "faulty mode") I cannot connect wired or wirelessly to HH - I cannot raise the Homehub Admin page either via "bthomehub.home" or "192.168.1.254" and that is true for all It devices in the house (Win xp box, Win7 laptop and a rasp pi).  When this fault is apparent there is no internet access, and pure wifi devices (kindles and android phones) all are unable to access internet, and an ethernet connected youview box also loses connectivity to internet.
However - HH is obviously still working to an extent, because a both wireless and ethernet connected devices can all interact on the network, files on the NAS remain streamable and browsable by everything that needs to connect.
I have FON, and that still operates correctly when the HH is in "Faulty mode" - ie my wireless devices can all connect through it to the internet, and that FON connection is definitely coming from my HH not from a neighbours - if I power down the Hub I have no FON connections showing up in any of my devices.
HH has all the lights showing properly...when in faulty mode the devices I can browse to on the network have 169.type Ip addressess rather than 192. addresses.
Reseting the Hub and or powering it on and off sometimes makes the fault go away, but often it doesn't.  Factory reset sometimes cures it, but again often it doesn't.  System has sometimes gone into faulty mode whilst just working away sweetly, with no It equipment being powered up/down/connected/disconnected. I've tried tricks like clearing caches  used different browsers chrome/FF/IE but no avail.
I noticed this initially with a HH3 - that got gradually worse (more faulty mode incidents until it remained in faulty mode) BT sent me a HH4 about 1 month ago as a replacement, now the same symptoms are appearing on my HH4 (twice in 3 days)...so what's the problem, is it my settings/something I should be doing, or is it a duff HH4 as well.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I think a clue to what is happenning is the 169.xxx.xxx.xxx IP addresses.
These show a failure of the connecting device to obtain a valid DHCP IP address from the router, and the 169.... gets auto-assigned by the device itself. On a network, devices all with 169-type addresses can communicate with each other, as you've found out.
So the problem that needs fixing is with the DHCP server in the router, which is not serving valid IP addresses when requested.
Here are two things you can try, maybe do the first with your PC and the second with another device, see which works better for you:
    - Assign a static IP to the device by setting it in Windows. Set it outside the router's DHCP range but with the same first three parts to the IP. eg 192.168.1.201. There's a guide here.
    - In the HH DHCP admin pages, reserve a fixed IP for another of your devices, using its MAC address, again outside the DHCP range. While you're at it, set the lease renewal time to its maximum.
If those don't work, send the blooming thing back!

  • Can't connect to MacBook via shared Network

Hi there!  I was wondering if someone could help me with this.  I just recently installed Tiger OS X 10.4 on my old iMac G4 Flat Panel, and would like to move some files over.  I know I can do it with Target Disc Mode using the firewire, but it takes too long, and I would rather do it with the Network.
However, my iMac will not connect to my MacBook (MacBook has Leopard 10.5.8), either with the IP address or with Go-->Network.  Whenever I try I get an error message that says "Connection failed. The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again."
Now, what get's me, is the MacBook will connect to the iMac, but not vice versa.

Oh, I thought you had to have the computer you're transferring files from in target mode.  Oh well.  If this doesn't work, then I'll try that, I guess.
Yes, I have File Sharing enabled on both computers.  When I try it using AFP, it doesn't ask for a password, just says it can't connect.  (AFP is what I used when the MB connected to the iMac, but the iMac won't connect to the MB through AFP).
Just now I chose SMB sharing on the MB and used my MB password and it accepted it.  BUT, when I went to the iMac and tried to connect via SMB, first it said that this computer's (meaning the iMac) Internet connection is offline.  Of course it is - I don't have an airport card yet for the iMac and there's only one Ethernet port, which I'm using to connect the two computers.  I tried it again, and this time it said "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "smb://[ip address]" could not be read or written. (Error code -36)."  I tried one more time and got the same message.

  • How can i connect Forms 6i via OCA,

    Hi all,
I have an application that need to connect in one process via ODBC to oracle lite, but i can't connect forms 6i to odbc, in sqlplus i put username/password@odbc:database and i connect, but when i try to connect forms or reports in these way it's gave me an error, but the error don't say nothing just the window appear, and don't have message. What i have to do in forms and reports?,
    Thanks.

Could you then explain what your problem is?
Frank has pointed you to a great source of information. What is it you don't understand.
Generally speaking you just need to recompile the FMB file to regeneate the FMX - but if you are moving from client/server to web you may need to do some more changes (see the website).

  • Can we connect to KDB via BO

    Hello,
Has anyone managed to connect to a KDB database via BO and build a universe?
We are on BOXI 3.1 SP2.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    Hi,
We can't connect KDB Database directly to the the Universe. But the KDB file can convert it into any other database like SQL Server or My SQL etc., There are many Converters are available to convert the KDB. Try it and use in ODBC.
    All the Best,
    Madhu...
