Can I connect to two 24" Sony Trinitron monitors?

I have two older--obviously--24" Sony Trinitron monitors (GDM-FW900). Can I use both of these in extended desktop mode with the new mini, and if so, at what resolution? And which cables?
I need two monitors, and hate as much as anything to have a pair that is not matched in size/specs. Since I can't afford to spring for two new monitors now, I'm hoping the Sonys can be used.

I assume the connections are VGA? Here are the two adapters you'll need to buy.

I haven't used dual vga, but I have used dual-DVI to run my 2 24" monitors. It was the same experience I get when I use my Mac Pro on the two monitors. Extended desktop and full resolution. I did have an issue with the mini-displayport to vga adapter...it flashes to black occasionally. I personally haven't trouble shot it any more...but I think if you search the discussions there is more talk about that issue.
So yes it'll run a regular 2-monitor set up for you...for me adjusting the resolution of the monitors to what I wanted was the biggest issue I ran into and that was easy.

  • Hi, I just got an Apple Thunderbolt Display. How can I connect it to my sony vaio pc? Thanks

Hi, I just got an Apple Thunderbolt Display. How can I connect it to my sony vaio pc? At Apple Store they gave me a Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter, but monitor doesnt display any image. Thanks for your help!

no, your computer needs to have thunderbolt technology. does it?
if not, no adapter can make a thunderbolt display work on a non-thunderbolt computer.
someone was likely confused since miniDP will FIT into a TB socket but is only compatible one way, ie a mDP display can work on a TB machine, but a TB display cannot work on a mDP machine

The video one is the one you need.
That's how I hook mine up.
You will lose a lot of video quality though, going from the macbooks screen to this, the macbooks screen is essentially HD.

  • I have an iPod 4th Gen and iPhone 3GS, can I connect the two so I can get on the internet with my iPod?

I have an IPod 4th Gen and iPhone 3 GS, is there a way I can connect the two so I can connect my iPod to the internet when away from home?  What I want to do is use some of the apps on the iPod that won't work on my iPhone which require an internet connection.

  • Macbook Pro & Sony Trinitron Monitor

I have both. Now how do I link them up?
    Kind Regards
    Dean Whiston

    More info is always helpful.
Also posting in the right area is a good idea, this is the Mac Pro area not the MacBook Pro area.
But I will assume that the Sony Trinitron is an older CRT monitor with a VGA only connection.
You will need to get a DVI-A to VGA adapter and connect that to the DVI port on the MacBook Pro, then connect that to the external monitor.
According to Apple the MacBook Pro is shipped with the proper adapter cable, if you lost yours then you can buy a new Apple one for $19.00 at
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M8754G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MTUzNTg
or a cheaper one for $1.94 at

Then open System Preferences and go to Displays and Detect Displays to activate the other monitor.

  • Can I connect my ps4 to my Thunderbolt Monitor?

Hi all, I was just wondering if there was any way to connect my ps4 to my thunderbolt monitor. I'm getting both of these for christmas, so I want to make sure I'm getting the right stuff. I'm also receiving an Elgato Capture Card, but I think that's irrelevant.
I've done quite a bit of research, and I think it's possible if you use an HDMI to thunderbolt connector, which you can buy on amazon for like 10 bucks.
Overall I just want to know if this could work, using my ps4's hdmi to plug into my Elgato, using another HDMI from the output of the elgato to the adapter and then using that thunderbolt cable to plug into the monitor. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!
    Links:
    Adapter - http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Mini-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt-Adapter/dp/B00C2 8L51G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418342206&sr=8-1&keywords=hdmi+to+thunderbolt

A Thunderbolt requires a computer with a Thunderbolt port.  It will not work with anything else.  There are no adapters or converters that will help.
The Amazon adapter is for connecting  a computer with a Thunderbolt port to a display with HDMI.  It will not work the other way round.

  • Can I connect these two Macs?

For some time I've been trying to connect a Powerbook 520, running OS 7.1, to a G5, running Tiger 10.4.8 (also has Classic environment). Was hoping to type up some stuff in Word on the considerably more portable 520 and copy it over to the G5 when needed.
I bought an AAUI to RJ45 transceiver and an ethernet crossover cable yesterday. Plug it all in today and this method doesn't seem to be working. The G5 can see it but says the AFP protocol is incorrect. Via Classic I go into AppleShare and it sees the Powerbook but I get an error each time. The Powerbook doesn't see the G5 at all.
I also have a HDI 29/30 SCSI adapter and tried to hook up my CD burner and it said it needed 7.5 and later. Terrific! Not
I have a dial-up modem for it too but have totally forgotten how to hook old Macs up to the internet.
I'm trying to get around this in the cheapest way possible, but purchasing connector after connector is adding up $$$-wise, which is hard to justify on such an old computer... I won't rule out buying a USB floppy for the G5 but this is bordering on obsessiveness. Maybe I should just give up the whole idea...

Mac OS X 10.4.x has certain limitations as far as file sharing with older systems is concerned. You may want to study posts made by Grant Bennet-Alder regarding this (e.g. here). With the correct software installed, you ought to be able to manage the connection from the PowerBook side.
System 7.5.3 (for example, British and US) is available for download from Apple.
System 7.5.3 contains the necessary TCP/IP files for the Internet. The modem (especially if internal) may require proprietary software (post back with type et cetera for additional information). An external modem will often work without special drivers. MacPPP 2.5.3 (here) will handle the PPP connection. Files can be transferred via email.
It is also possible to connect two computers modem-to-modem (locally). See, for instance, KB article # 22229.
If the PowerBook 520 is equipped with a PCMCIA expansion module, a CompactFlash memory card in a PC Card adapter (something like this one) will provide you with a fast alternative file transfer method (with a USB card reader attached to the other computer).

  • Hyperion- Can it Connect to two database at a time

    Hi All,
I am new to Hyperion Reporting and Analysis. Kindly help me in the following Scenario.
Consider two database 'A' and 'B'
I want to create a report from tables from Database "A" and "B"
    How to do that.
    Kindly Help me out
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Gatha

For Interactive Reporting there are a couple options.
    1. Us the OBIEE BI Server and model your semantic layer with the connections. The Product is designed for Federated Queries.
    2. Build within Client
    - Query 1 for Database A
    - Query 2 for Database B
    - Qyery 3 using local results build the data model from Query Results A and B - Joined appropriately
    3. Depending on the Database - SQLServer, Oracle, DB2 etc you could connect to multiple DB within one OCE - You will need to look at Mark Ostroff's tips and tricks guide from previous Hyperion Conference for how to do it.
    Hope this is Helpful

  • Can I connect to two wireless networks at a time?

I am using an iMac currently connected wirelessly to a Verizon Mifi mobile broadband on one network. I also have a Linsys router connected to the same iMac via an ethernet cable so that I may stream my itunes content to my Apple TV third gen. Lets call this my private network and the verizon my internet for now.
Instead of connecting the ethernet cable to the computer, itself, for the use of the private network, I am wondering if there is a way/workaround/software that would allow me to connect to both the internet AND the private (non internet) networks at the same time. I have the internet info (IP, Mask, Gateway, DNS) and know how to change that same information by logging into my router via its standard IP address to set up. Can anyone lend me ANY leads to this.
My goal it to be able to eliminate the ethernet, and connect to both networks at the same time just to be clear.
    THANKS!!!

The way that the Macs work, in general, is that the Internet connection can be shared out through the various means that are installed on the Mac itself. For instance, I used to have Verizon Wireless' 4GLTE Modem connected to a USB port and shared it out via the wireless and Bluetooth PAN.
The biggest problem faced by using Bluetooth is the distance. As everyone who uses Bluetooth headsets knows, you really cannot wander too far from the unit you are paired with--at most 30-40 feet. The unit I was experimenting with was my iPod Touch 4G. I turned off the wireless on the iPod, but left the bluetooth on.
When you Internet Share with the iMac, you have to set the IP address for the connection the other devices are going to share on (i.e. if you connect to Internet on Ethernet, share out on wireless--Ethernet ip might be 192.168.1.8, set your wireless as 192.168.2.1). HOWEVER, set your IP for the shared part before starting the connecting of Internet Share. The set by DHCP should be turned off, you want it to be a static address.

  • Can I connected to two Database in jdbc page?

I need to run two queries in my project but it has two different databases.

    Yes.
You have to load the appropriate driver(s) and use two different Connection objects, but as long as the 2 DBs have different URLs, it all works just fine.

  • WRT150N and WRE54G: can I connect these two?

    Hi there,
I have been using my WRT150N v1.1 for a couple of years and have always had spotty Wi-Fi signal on my deck (but it's been flawless within my home). My brother just gave me an extra WRE54G v3 which he no longer uses. So... I was wondering:
    - Can I use the  WRE54G with my WRT150N?
I've been reading on this for hours and I've come to the conclusion that "no" is the answer since my WRT150N is not a "WDS-based product." Is this final determination correct?
The one great thing that I have going for me is that I already have a very long Ethernet cable running from my WRT150N all the way out to my deck (so that I can plug my laptop directly into the network when I am on my deck, due to Wi-Fi not being strong).
I was hoping that I would then not have to rely on WDS to use the WRE54G. Is there a way to set the WRE54G up so that instead of being a "repeater," it acts as an "access point?" I was thinking that I could plug the WRE54G into the aforementioned Ethernet cable and use the Wi-Fi capability of the WRE54G to connect my laptop and iPhone to my LAN.
Is there a way? Thanks so much!
    CO

Yes the WRE54G is not compatible with WRT150N Router. You cannot setup WRE54G in an AP mode as it doesn't have that option to do it. May be you need to get an Access point which will do that work for you.
