Can I Control Book Module Zoom Levels in LR4

Hi
I'm frustrated that using zoom in/out in Book module doesn't seem to let me control the level of zoom. On my macbook this makes text in captions either too small to read without straining or too large to see more than a few words at a time. I can control Grid size virtually everywhere else - can i do something about this in Book? Any help would be appreciated.
I finally found this thread. Not a perfect solution but better than nothing.

  • Can I lock in a zoom level (e.g. Page View) so it won't change?

I'm wondering if there is a way to prevent Adobe Reader from changing my zoom level.  I prefer to read with the zoom level set to Fit Page.  Every time I click on a bookmark to jump to another page in the document, the zoom level changes to Fit Width (I think).  This is extremely annoying because I have to keep changing the view back to Fit Page.  In preferences I have put the default zoom to Fit Page, but that only determines how it comes up initially.  When I click on a bookmark it changes again.
I don't understand why the zoom changes when you click a bookmark at all.  Why would I want the zoom to change on me?
FYI, I'm using Reader XI (11.0.08).
    Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Thanks CtDave.  I don't have anything besides the free reader, so I did some further research on the web and found a solution that is pretty "brute force", but is an option for others that only have the free reader.  Here is a link to the full description:
    http://superuser.com/questions/306803/zooming-size-of-pdf-files-and-bookmarks
Here is the basics:  You can use a text editor and edit the PDF file.  Once in the text editor you can search for /FitH or /Fit (there surely are other codes, but those are the only ones I know of).  These are codes that tell Acrobat what kind of zoom level to apply to the destination of a jump.  So the bookmarks should all have these.  Simply do a search and replace with /XYZ.  The /XYZ code tells Acrobat to leave the zoom level as it already is.
It might sound a bit weird, but I tried it on multiple files I was having trouble with and it worked great.  Of course, my suggestion would be to make backup copy of the file before doing this in case something goes wrong.
    Thanks.

  • Image not displayed correctly in image control at small zoom level

I am displaying an image in an image control with a zoom factor of ~0.015 and it appears as shown in image 1.jpg.  When I zoom in a little more to ~0.016 the image is displayed correctly as shown in image 2.jpg.  Both images are attached.
Why is the image displayed as a "grey strip" in the first image?  What do I need to do to have the image displayed correctly at any zoom factor?  I am using LV 2011 with the associated vision development module on Windows 7.
    Thanks,

    Hi Jonathan,
Did you try resizing your image dimensions, as I suggested in my previous post? Anti-aliasing is an expected behavior; as you zoom out, the image has to be resampled in order to be displayed properly. At some point, LabVIEW assumes that the image has been resampled to the point where it no longer resembles the initial image, and so it greys the image out. In the case of your image, that is not the case. As I said, I believe an acceptable workaround would be to use IMAQ resample to half or quarter the pixel dimensions of your image, at which point it should be able to be displayed at a higher zoom factor.

  • BPC 10.0 - How can I control security at Environment level?

    Dear All,
How can I control environment level security in BPC?
    i.e.
User1 can work on only ENV01
    User2 can work on only ENV02 & ENV03
    etc...
I believe this has to be done at BW level, right? If so, how can I do that in BW? Else, how can I achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Peri

    Hi Peri,
yes, the admin panel is within the environment. So when you add users you add them to that specific environment. You can then log onto another environment and add a different set of users.
Those users you wand to add need specific SAP role in the BW so you can see them in the first place.

  • Is there a USB "Mixer" that can take control of the channel levels in garage band?

Im just looking for something like a USB "Mixer" that can take control of the Channel faders in garage band. Sort of like a digital Mixer, but not for recording.
    many Thanks, Hammie

What you are looking for is called a Control Surface. M-Audio made one specifically for Garageband called the iControl but it was discontinued a few years ago. Many surfaces can work with many different DAWs but I don't know off hand any that work with Garageband.

  • When import mif, can I control the topic heading level?

With the old Robohelp, when I imported mifs, there was the option to say at what level heading the import would be,
so the result would be that for each section (folder) there would be separate topics for each subheading. Since the
Sections were very large, this would allow the user to walk through the document subsection by subsection. It also
made the connection to our product that calls RoboHelp easier, since the help button would open RoboHelp on a
lower level heading inside a subsection.
In Robo8 demo, I don;t see this option, and each gigantic Section is a folder and one topic. Moreover, it takes several seconds
to open. Not sure if that is related to the size of the topic or not.
I think the attachments show this, anything I am missing? Need for a script?
    Thanks

Try the Edit button on this screen from Project Settings. I thought it popped up automatically but maybe it's different for FM stuff. Look for the pagination setting and apply it to every style you want topics to be based on.
Also see the RoboHelp Tour on my site. This is also covered there.

  • Any way to put your own zoom level in the zoom dropdown?

It turns out that on my 15.6" laptop screen a 65% zoom level is about perfect for fitting my spread in the display so that I can actually read the text in the text frames. (Double-clicking the Zoom tool puts me at a 75% zoom level but with text frames going outside my screen viewing area).
Pressing Control-Alt-0 puts me at 53.3% but with text slightly too small to read.  Being stubborn, I want 65%, because then I can read all my text and fit the whole spread in the window minus the white blank area between the pink (magenta?) margins and the page trim (black border) which I don't need to see.
I know about the script method - I've already made my own keyboard shortcut for a 60% zoom level using a custom zoom60.jsx script file with a Control-Shift-1 keyboard shortcut.
Is there any way to add that 65% zoom level to the Zoom dropdown menu on the Application Bar (top of window)?
Note: You can't set a default Zoom level with no documents open because the Zoom control (dropdown at top) is greyed out - not accessible.

I found the ultimate solution to this - buy a new (business model) laptop with a better video card and screen.  My top ("recommended") resolution is now 1600 x 900.  The old one had a top resolution of 1366 x 768.
Pressing Control-Alt-0 to Fit Spread in Window on the old laptop gives me a 53% zoom level with fuzzy text that borders on unreadable.  Pressing Control-Alt-0 on the new laptop gives me a 65% zoom level with text readable.
But, what I want is a command called: Fit Spread in Window But With A Smidgeon of White Showing Beyond The Margins.  That turns out to be a 75% zoom level for me (which exists as a preset in the Zoom dropdown on the Application Bar at top of the interface), but I'll still need to do a script and map it to something like Control-Shift-1 because 75% does not result from any of the choices under the View menu. (Using Control-minus(-) and Control-plus(+) will get me to the 75% though). And, I want to get to that 75% without using the mouse.
Without getting too technical, I think working on a program like InDesign on a consumer model laptop (Acer Aspire 5535) with one of those horrible shiny screens is basically bad for your eyes.  I'm now on a Lenovo Thinkpad W530 with beautiful matte screen (no glare) and text with very sharp edges.
I guess there are other solutions - like mapping Control-Alt-0 to a 75% zoom using a script to replace my current 65% zoom level.

  • Minimum zoom level

In landscape format in continuous scroll mode, why can't you decrease the zoom level to less than page width? On tablets, page width as the minimum level makes the text appear too large in some documents. It would be better if you could further decrease the magnification so that margins on both sides would appear.

Thanks for your request. We have made a note of your request and added it to our product backlog.

  • How to fix pages zoom level permanently in FF8 ?

I have 15,6 " laptop with Full-HD resolution. Therefore, by default all text is too small to read. In Windows 7 and in IE there is a possibility to set zoom to 125% permanently, and this fixes the problem.
In FireFox the text becomes readable if I click CTRL+ two times. But this CTRL+ affects either to one tab or to one website only. But how can I permanently fix this zoom level (CTRL+ two times) in FireFox for forever ?

You can use 1 of these add-ons :
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nosquint/
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/
for me nosquint is excellent choice

  • No zoom level controls on second monitor!

I use a second monitor to display a loupe view of the photo I have selected in the grid view, which is on the first monitor.  I have always had the zoom-level controls (Fit, Fill, etc.) at the bottom of the loupe display on the second moitor, until I replaced my first monitor this week.  Everything else is still the same, but I no longer have the zoom controls on the second monitor.  This means that I cannot change the zoom levels that are availabel to me.  I either have Fit or 100% zoom.  Without the zoom controls on the second monitor I can't change the settings.  Does anyone know how to get the zoom controls back (or why they might have disappeared)?
    Thanks for any help.

Never mind.  I found the problem (the second monitor was in full-screen mode).  Nothing
    to see here.  Keep moving.

  • How can I control the zoom on my mac mouse?

How can I control the zoom function on my mouse? In the middle of working on things my hand will rub the mouse by accident and all of a sudden the context within the screen is large. I have no idea of how to work this feature on my mouse and most times to get it to return to normal, I have to escape out of the work I am performing.

If you are pressing the "Control" button on the Mac keyboard, scrolling up will zoom in and scrolling down will zoom out. You can disable this if it annoys you through System Preferences > Universal Access. If you are using Mountain Lion, it would be System Preferences > Accessibility.
Uncheck the in the "Seeing" or "Zoom" section that says "Use scroll gesture with modifier keys to zoom".  It may be slightly different if you have an older OS X version. I have Mountain Lion and am going off of memory on the older versions.

  • Book Module Lightroom 4 -- can I use a color picker to pick a color from a photo to use as the backg

I am trying to match a background color for a page in a Blurb book using the Lightroom 4 Book Module.  Is there any way I can use the color picker to pick a color from the photo to use as the color for the background and as the type color?  I see the color box for these situations, but the color picker only seems to work with the color array that pops up and doesn't go to the photo.  Any suggestions?  Am I overlooking something very obvious?

    It works for me.
The usual Lightroom way: click the eyedropper onto the color palette first, then hold and drag to your photo to sample color.

  • Can I keep firefox at a 125% zoom level? I use my HDTV as a monitor and would like the view to be larger without having to hit "ctrl +" on each web page.

I would like firefox to default to a 125% zoom level. Is ther a way I can do this through firefox or through my desktop?

The following Add-on will allow you to set whatever default %-age works best for you. After install, go to Add-ons > Extensions > Default FullZoom Level > Options, in the Options window, "Default FullZoom Level (percent)". That will set ALL pages at your choice.

  • How can I turn off the price display in the Book module?

I would love to use the book module to design wedding albums with my clients, but with my cost splashed all over the screen I can only imagine the negotiations that will happen over the price I'll be charging them!  What I need is to be able display the client price,  something allowing a mark-up percentage would be great, however for now I would be happy just to turn it off.

John, with all due respect (and I do have the utmost respect for your opinion and your contributions here and elsewhere) that just doesn't stand the litmus test. Could you please pont out another Adobe authored application that is so restrictive as to what can be exported. Or so restrictive as to document size and customization to the point where I must either use an outside application or wait patiently for vendors "to come on board" in order to achieve my desired customization? Other than Flash of course ... even then Adobe has gone to great lengths of late to make output from that app much more versatile with conversion options to other devices.
Let's experiment with the other modules and see if your information about Adobe's methods for the Book module holds water:
    Develop Module:
"Adobe have stated elsewhere why they initially went with Nikon (worldwide coverage, customer profiles) and that there are mechanisms for other camera makers to come on board."
    Print Module:
"Adobe have stated elsewhere why they initially went with Epson (worldwide coverage, customer profiles) and that there are mechanisms for other printer manufacturers to come on board."
    Web Module:
"Adobe have stated elsewhere why they initially went with Internet Explorer (worldwide coverage, customer profiles) and that there are mechanisms for other internet browser developers to come on board."
    Slideshow Module:
"Adobe have stated elsewhere why they initially went with WMV (worldwide coverage, customer profiles) and that there are mechanisms for other video file options to come on board."
As I have shared elsewhere, when I want to design a custom size for a book in Aperture 3, I simply select Custom, type in the dimensions and margin sizes and procede to lay out the book. Once completed, I can export the book to the favored vendor (Which could be Blurb for all I know), export to PDF, Export the pages or spreads to TIFF or JPEG ... and all this in one of those terrible restrictive, limiting and "closed" Apple software options ...
I'm sorry, but the Book module in it's current form is almost a total non-feature for many users. Adobe simply got it wrong. I expected much more from them and was willing to pay for it. Half-measures are not sollutions. Unfortunately for Adobe, I only invest in sollutions not more workarounds.
