Can I copy from ipod into itunes?

I had my ipod library on a computer that had to be rebuilt and it couldn't be saved. This means that I only have my library on my ipod. Is there any way of syncing it with my laptop without wiping everything off or having to reload thousands of songs into itunes from CD's?

Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

If you failed to maintain a backup copy, then you would have to import the disks again.

I know I'm probably clutching at straws here but thought I'd give it a try and throw the question out there! Stupidly I let my system be rebooted with the original operating system discs without backing up my itunes!! Is there any chance of transferring my music back using my ipod?? Thanks in advance

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library.There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to iTunes/preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'Command + Option' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
Try iPodDisk.
Similar programs are Expod, Yamipod, Senuti and Music Rescue.
If you want to retrieve playlists, iPodRip has the feature enabling you to reconstruct them.

Can't transfer from iPod to iTunes after Hard Disk re-format

Hi. I have an iPod classic and iTunes. Recently, I had to re-format my hard drive after a system crash. I thought I had my audio files backed up to an external hard drive, but it turns out they didn't copy. So, I'm trying to restore the audio files from my iPod. You can also do a simple Google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.

Can I copy from Ipod??.

When I try to play my library content it tells me "The item cannot play because the original file cannot be found". I think I accidentally deleted the files thinking (wrongly) that the files were in Itunes Library.
My question is....can I copy all the files on my Ipod (Nano 16G) back on to my computer to recreate the Library.

Old hard drive fried, can I copy from IPOD to new computer

My old computer fried so i purchased a new computer. Is there any wat to copy the tunes adn photos from my IPOD to my new computer? The photos are more inmportant as I can rebuild the tunes. Please advise.

I lost my songs on itunes! Fortunantly, I have them all on my iPod touch. I been browsing around and there are programs that you have to pay for to transfer songs from ipod to computer/itunes. Does anyone know of free apps to do so, i really dont feel like paying for an app im gonna use once. Any help would be super! Thanks

Music you bought in iTunes can be copied by using "transfer purchases" from the iTunes menu.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.

By doing some research I found out that it seems to be difficult, but haven't found the solution.
