    Hi
Thanks but I have tried doing the above - when I said 7 times I was modest, its more like 15 times.
And I am referring to the 5.1 software update. I dont have wifi so I guess I will have to try that seeing that my husband also has the same problem - he has also tried downloading several times. It always times out en says that the connection is lost but yet there are always an internet connection and a decent signal once it stopped. Think it said error 32052 or something!
I am disappointed because the update includes inprovement on the battery life - did you guys notice any difference?

  • Docking iPhone to IMac Since Latest iPhone Software Update

Since the latest iPhone software version(1.0.2) was downloaded, whenever I dock my iPhone into its charging/syncing dock connected to my iMac, I get the "This accessory is not made to work with iPhone' box, asking me to switch to Airplane Mode. I just select "no" and continue. When I got my iPhone, I had a Windows PC running XPPro, but the coolness of the iPhone converted me to Apple and the new iMac. Is anyone else having this problem, or is there a work around? It's kind of anoying. Thanks.

Thanks Nathan C. I've also noticed that occasionally when I dock the iPhone for syncing and click on sync, that the iTunes message bar at the tope of the screen is working saying "syncing iPhone", but it just keeps working without anything happening. When this happens I either kill the sync with the slider on the iPhone, or try to eject the iPhone from iTunes, or I have to reboot the iPhone. Then I try syncing again, and it seems to work as it should. Is this happening to anyone else? I wonder if it could be related to the issue with my iPhone dock. Any ideas? If it gets "stuck" during syncing, what is the best way to stop the sync and try it again?

  • How can I copy the iPhone backup files to another iTunes Library?

I'm changing to my Window laptop from a PC. I want to copy my iPhone backup to the Library in the laptop. How can I find those backup files? I don't want to lose my apps and everything, you know.

This article will tell you where your iPhone backup is stored on your computer:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946 iTunes content is NOT part of the iPhone backup. You can either copy your iTunes library to your new computer, or you can re-download your purchased iTunes content(except ringtones) to your new computer; http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527

  • HT4623 Where can I download other iPhone software updates?

I am trying to find 6.1.4 software update, does anyone know where to get it?

Plug your phone into iTunes and perform the update that way. iTunes will automatically download the current version for your phone.
Or you can update over the air if you're already running iOS 5 or later.
There are no other legitimate sources.

  • Can I use 'software update' for another computer hook up via firewire?

My wife has a powerbook that has problems. I had to re-install the original software and back up her files. The problem is I can't get on the internet either hardwire or through airport. It says the password I am giving is incorrect. I have no problem getting on line with my ibook. So my idea is this, Can I hook her powerbook up to my ibook using firewire and then use software update to update her opertaing system. She has 10.2. Thanks

You can manually download the updates and copy them via firewire to the other Mac. Once the updates are on the other Mac, you can run them from there.

  • How do I find the download for new iPhone software update on my computer?

I have an iPhone 5S and downloaded the update on my computer first. Where do I find it, so I can download it from my computer to my iPhone? How long does it take?

You don't find it anywhere.  You download it from within iTunes and it installs from there.

  • Jan Software Update on another computer

OK, so I thought I was going to have no problem purchasing and installing the January Software Update on my secondary computer. I got the 1.1.3 update for my iPod touch, then updated iTunes to 7.6. I then purchased the JSU, and got it. But then I realized that I had to sync to my iPod to get it over there, and my secondary computer didn't have everything my primary computer had in its library, so I was going to lose everything. My primary computer was out for repair, so I decided not to sync off my secondary, and wait for the primary to come back from repair. Now I'm trying to get the JSU onto my iPod touch from my primary. But though iTunes Music Store says I already purchased it, I can't get it again from them to sync over to the iPod. How can I get iTunes to give me the software I purchased on this primary computer????

Reading through your message again, it seems you have some hope...
The following instructions are being reposted (again)
"The iPod touch January Software Upgrade can only be synced to iPod touch from the primary iTunes library. If the user is manually managing music and video on iPod, this is the computer where they first set up the iPod or first set it up after restoring the iPod. The "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file can be copied from the computer where you purchased it to your primary iTunes library computer, and sync the iPod from there.
    The file is located here:
    Mac OS X:
    ~/Library/iTunes/Mobile Applications
    Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings[user name]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
    Windows Vista:
    C:\Users[user name]\AppData\Roaming
    Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
Note: These locations are hidden by default in Windows. You can these locations by choosing "Show hidden files and folder" in the View tab of the Folder Options Control Panel.
Once you have copied the "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file to the computer with your home library, make a new folder named Mobile Applications in the correct location, and place the "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file there. Open iTunes and sync your iPod touch."

  • Can't download latest AppleTV software update

I keep getting error message "unable to complete". I have tried both manual and automatic updates. I have rebooted several times. What else can I do? It seems to be affecting the ability to rent films too, as they start to play the time-out. Help!

Connect the ATV to a computer running iTunes via a microUSB cable and restore it as new.

  • Iphone software updates

Is it safe to upload the latest iphone software updates via iTunes (ie update 4.2 etc etc), to an iPhone 3? Are the new updates compatible with older phone models?
    Thanks

Thanks. I don't suppose you can tell me in iTunes how I know which operating system I'm using, or on the iPhone?  If the latest has been downloaded etc? Sorry I know I sound a bit clueless.

Hi guys, When I try to update my iphone4s to the latest software on itunes via my MacBook a message displays a message: 'This iPhone "Seans iphone" cannot be updated at this time because the iphone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable'. This has happened a few time s now. I have look through the FAQ's but no luck. Can someon help? Cheers

Try posting to the correct forum.
This is the iPhone for the Enterprise forum... there is nothing about the issue that appears to apply to using an iPhone in an Enterprise (corporate) environment.
Try posting to the iTunes for the Mac forum.

The iphone software update server could not be contacted" - error message recieved when i try to update to 5.1.1 via itunes , what can i do ?

    Dear Lawrence Finch:
If you're still around I hope you see this message, as you're the FIRST person (after reading every link, thread, other sites, apple support articles, etc.) to mention JB may be causing this iTunes popup window to REPEATEDLY occur:
"The iPhone software update server could not be contacted."
No, I did not hack anything (are you kidding?  Grannies don't hack!), but I unknowingly bought a 3Gs iOS 3.1 from ebay that was not advertised as JB.  Since it is like brand new, I was going to keep it (because my old backup is iOS 3.1.2) & was trying to simply restore & update, which (I thought) would remove the JB (that's what everybody says at forums, etc).
Instead, after "erasing all settings/content" (inside phone's Settings to get the prior person's name out of there), it is now stuck in White Apple Mode.
Put it in DFU/Recovery Mode & connect to iTunes but that stupid above message keeps appearing & I have already read/tried EVERYTHING to get rid of that message, starting with:
    1.  OLD phones (3Gs) with OLD iOS 3.1+ should work FINE with OLD Mac (iBook) with OLD OSX (Tiger 10.4.11) with OLD iTunes (9.2.1[5]).  So that can't be the problem.
Here's all the other things apple & others say to check which I already checked:
    2.  USB ports are FINE, both work FINE, so that's not the problem.
    3.  No "extra USB devices" are connected, ONLY a mouse, & then the phone (yes, I tried it w/o the mouse connected but that didn't help).
    4.  No "usb hubs."
    5.  Latest iTunes for this OSX has already been DL'd (iTunes 9.2.1[5]).  If you know of a newer one for this OSX, please advise.
    6.  No antivirus software.
    7.  No security software.
    8.  No routers; only 1 comcast modem, period.  Wired Ethernet.
    9.  No wifi gadgets, no wifi at all.
    10.  No firewalls, except what is on iBook in the SHARING/System-Prefs. section.  It's turned OFF.
    11.  Did the hosts/terminal thing sudo nano whatever it was.  There were only 3 lines, NO gs.apple.com:
    xxxxx local host
    xxxxx broadcast host
    xxxx local host
Oh, & btw, ATT officially unlocked this phone (after I filled out their online forms) but I can't finish the process via iTunes to get their Confirmation that "Device is Now Unlocked," so I can use T-Mo.
So that's it.  If you have any other ideas of what to do from here, since from your comment, maybe it's the stupid JB on this phone that is causing the problem (???), please advise.
    Many thanks!

since latest ATV software update i can no longer do home share or air play

Try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, or resetting it using the reset option under general. You should also try restarting your router.
