Can I correct for distortion caused by wide angle lenses using Apature - for instance in mountain photos?

I am using Apature 3.5.1 and want to correct for the (parallax?) effect, "tilting", created by wide angle lenes in mountain photos. Can I do this in Apature and is so how

Aperture cannot correct lens distortion you will need to resort to a plugin.
PTLens is used by a number of users here (myself included) with good results.

Wide angle lense problem...

I've just started shooting my film and have used a wide angle lense for some shots. Everything looked fine when I checked on the day of shooting. But when I just captured to FCE, there are small black areas on four corners, like a circle shape (as if the lense is covering) - is this because the lense wasn't put on properly? Is there a way of changing the format or cropping the video?

You can scale up the image a bit to hide it if you like.
The reason it's there in FCE is because you see all the picture. A TV or camera LCD was probably masking some of the image. That's why FCE has Overlays like Picture Safe and Title Safe, to judge what could be lost.
TVs will show less of the image than your computer screen. And not all TVs show the same amount of the image.
Try playing the Timeline to a TV/Monitor and see if the vignetting is hidden. Most likely it will.

Can I correct for an image that is distorted: should be square, is not?

I'm working with some photos of flat art work. The camera was not aligned perfectly, so the images are not quite square. Can I use Photoshop to correct for this?

How can I correct for 2 different color temperatures in one image?

Hi,
In indoor architectural photography one may encounter mixed color temperatures in one image. If one could use gels and lamps to replace incoming natural daylight and force a uniform color temperature (for instance tungsten) then the problem would go away. Yet, sometimes this is not possible or practical and I was exploring what could be accomplished within Photoshop. Here is my proposal ( or beginning of it):
shoot RAW
generate 2 versions of the image, each corrected for one of the color temperatures present (say WB dropper in "should be neutral" area where daylight dominates and another WB dropper in "should be neutral" area where tungsten dominates)
open them in Photoshop and move one of them as a layer on top of the other version
Try to blend the two layers
in one example, I used Hue blending mode and the photo fixed itself!! However this is not generalizable to other images
I also tried BlendIf for harder images but with no success
I presume selection is then a must which brings up the question:HOW CAN I SELECT DEPENDING ON COLOR TEMPERATURE? I mean, the layer where WB = daylight looks orange-casted in the areas where the main light source is tungsten, while the layer where WB = tungsten looks blue-casted in the areas lit mainly by sunlight. I must believe there should exist a best approach to select say the blue-casted areas or the orange-casted areas, and that approach should be simple if it somehow takes into consideration the predominant cast. I have tried Select Color Range but not very successfully. I just feel there must be a simpler way, taking advantage of the present casts.

If you want to use multiple keepalives for a service, you must use a script. The alternative would be to create 2 content rules, and 2 sets of services, one for port 80 (or whatever) and one for port 443 (or whatever), and use http for one and ssl for the other.

How can I check for duplicates in Apple Photos?

Can't use my existing apps to check for duplicates in Apple Photos as they only work with iPhoto folders. Any ideas how I can get around this gap?

Wide Angle Lenses - Full Frame vs APS-C

I'm shooting on a crop sensor (30D) and using a Tamron 10-24 Di (poor quality, I must say) to cover my wide angle needs. I'm looking to upgrade my body and lens soon, but I need little help. I shoot real estate and to be honest the 10mm just isn't wide enough at times. Here are two issues I'm stuggling with:
Do I wait to get better glass until I upgrade to possibly a full frame body
How do the focal lengths of the Canon wide zooms compare to my 10-24
See, if I get a new lens now (Canon 10-22) then I'm essentially forcing myself to stay in the crop sensor body market. However, if I decided I will go with a full frame body, then I cannot use the 10-22, and should get something like the 16-35, which would not cover my current wide angle needs on my 30D. Dilemma.
Has anyone else fought this battle who can offer some advice & insight?

If you're serious about real estate photography, then you would be best served by getting a 17TS-E lens. This isn't as wide as 10mm on your existing sensor size, but you can shift-pano two or three shots together and get even wider if need be.
This way you would be spending your money on the glass which is most important here.
Then, if you like, you can pick up a cheap 5Dc or 5D2 and have the ideal FF/TS set up.

I can't tell for sure if the photos on my iphone were successfully backed up in the icloud. How can I find out what is stored in my icloud account?

I activated the icloud backup on my iphone 4s and bought an extra 10gb of space. I clicked backup to icloud now to backup my trip photos. I want to be able to erase the photos on my phone because I'm at max capacity and I have another week to go on my trip. Based on the number of gb available before my attempt to do the backup and the much smaller gbs available now, I guess that the photos were backed up. How can I confirm that? Is there an icloud website I can log into to see exactly what has been backed up? I do not have access to my home computer so I don't think that I can access my itunes account, and even if I could I'm not sure that would tell me anything. Thanks for any insights you can give me.

You can go to icloud.com from your computer to see what data is in the account (other than photo stream photos and your iCloud backup), but you won't know what data may have been accessed by someone else. If you're concerned, change your password as discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5624. After changing your iCloud ID password, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new password.
When you delete the account it only deletes the account and your synced data from your device, not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account your data will be synced back when you sign back in. Save you photo stream photos before deleting the account (tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll)

Does someone make a wide angle lense accessory for iPad video camera?

Would like to widen iPad video camera perspective when using Skype app. Looking for aftermarket product like Phocus, but for iPad video camera. Anything out there or do I need to develop a start-up myself?

There are a number of lens kits available that will work on the iPad, but I've never seen one that will work on the forward lense (which is what I assum you are looking for). Doesn't mean there isn't one however.

Create lens profile for ultra wide angle lens

I am trying to create a lens profile for the ultra wide angle lens Olympus 9-18 mm (Crop factor 2). As i use the lens for timelapse, i only need the profiles for 9 mm and open aperture f4, but combined with several different ND-filters which show different vignetting depending on their filter strength. Filters are oversized, so no influence by fringe. What i need is to get rid of vignetting.
So far everything works out well, and probably good enough for still photography. However for timelapse I need a high quality compensation of vignetting, otherwise getting flicker.
My problem is, that with the ultra wide angle lens distance from camera to chart (A3) is just about 0.5 meters. I did the shootings outside, in shade, when having a clear sky, and I found it quite impossible not to produce any shadow of myself or the camera on the chart. Thus I got a not perfectly even correction of vignetting.
Can anyone give me tips how to solve that problem with producing shade on the cart? Maybe working indoors with 2 lamps can create better results? Have tried that but found the illumination of the chart so damn poor.

I think your best bet is outside, with possibly a larger chart. (The two-light setup indoors is problematic esp. with wide-angle lenses.)
Instead of waiting for overcast, try waiting for a sunny clear day with a direct lighting from the sun on the chart, at a sharp angle (almost side-lit) so that the chart is clearly illuminated, but the shadow that the camera casts will be to the side (instead of on the chart itself).

Adaptive wide angle filter error for iPhone 4s in PS CC

I have just watched a tutorial on Adobe TV regarding the new adaptive wide angle filter used on pre-stitched panoramas. I open an iPhone pano image. go to filter–>adaptive wide angle filter and in the lower left corner I find – as indicated as being requested to function properly the tut – the name of the camera, the lens and the f-stop with wich the image was taken. The filter does still not draw the automatic line on the corved part of the building I try to improve. Going to correction –> automatic in the upper right corner I get an error message that no matching profile for the iPhone's camera's lens could be found.
Why that when it is clerly indicated as being 4.28 mm etc already? The iPhone 4S has been here for quite a while and is widely used, so why the error?

it did seem to work out for a moment the wayyou suggested: the drag line appered allright this time, but after adjusting the curved line the filter made a fisheye image out of my panorama, cutting off about 20% on each side and leaving a ragged edge remining of a circle.
I'll keep trying!

Wide-angle lens for a wvc2300

Hello,
I have a WVC2300 in a small office. Even though I place the camera in the furthest corner of the room, I cannot see all that I want to see; this is with the lens that comes with the camera.
Is there another lens that I can use that will capture a wider angle?

Adaptive Wide Angle (PS CS6) - Auto doesn't work

When I try to use "Auto" correction in the new Adaptive Wide Angle filter, it pops up with "No matching lens profile found". I searched for information and was directed to go to the Lens Correction filter. I pressed the "Search Online" button. The first time it comes back with "Connection timeout", but the second time it says "No online profiles found". Come on, really?!
ACR has my lens profile (Canon 24-105 f/4 IS), why can't PS CS6 find it? Is there a workaround? I'd really like to use the Adaptive Wide Angle filter.

I've discovered a bit more information.
My current camera is a Canon 5D Mark III, but I had a Mark II with this same lens before that.
I was editing a photo from the Mk II, and found that Adaptive Wide Angle defaulted to "auto" for it, having found a lens profile.
Since it's the very same lens, it apparently is not related to the lens at all, but rather the camera body.
I just installed an update to PS this morning, but it did not improve the situation at all.
How can it be that Adobe doesn't seem to support the 5D Mark III in PS CS6, one of the more popular full-sensor camera bodies out there?

Anyways, is there some way of using code to stretch or skew
the screen making it look like a wide angle lens.

the results skewed, centering around one point.
If you could help a noob, that would be great.
