Can I create a font in AI6 - like you can in Inkscape?

I just have 5 or 6 dingbats that i want to convert to a font and then use on a website. Can I do this in AI? Is there a tutorial anyone might know of? Many thanks in advance!

I did forget about this one:

Maybe it's even better.
In order to get your font into a web page you could check this:

I guss you figured it out, but I already did the screen shots, so I'll post anyway.
Once you have your simple font templates created, it's just 3 clicks and a select away ( okay 5 clicks total ).
Here it is in screen shots:

That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.

    Hello Anubha,
I am having a similar problem on my machine.  I was using Word 2008 and I created a PDF inside Word.
I am opening the file on the system itself and I am running Windows 8.1.  I am using Version 11 of Reader.
When the PDF I created (my resume) attempts to open, it says:  cannot find or create the file Times, Bold.  Some characters may not display or print correctly.
However, the entire Reader keeps freezing and will not allow me to open or test print the document.  Also, it is not displaying any of the Bold Times New Roman Print.  Can you please help?  Thanks.

  • Lipstick font type or how to create lipstick font type like in this image

Nothing will look as good as doing it by hand, so unless there were a lot of text, I'd do it that way.
Here's a nice font in that vein, though:

You could even try... cough... Mistral, but it will probably end up looking something of an 80s pastiche.

  • OK , I have my instructional coaches creating power point presentation add audio to each slide with the presenter 10 add ins. I need these presentation converted into MP4 like you can do with adobe presenter video creator.

Love the Adobe products first. OK , I have my instructional coaches creating power point presentation add audio to each slide with the presenter 10 add ins. I need these presentation converted into MP4 like you can do with adobe presenter video creator.

If you import the PPT deck into Captivate it will not bring the audio from Presenter. But you can import it into Captivate after the slide deck has been imported. The audio files aren't necessarily named in a logical fashion in the source files for the presentation, so I would recommend that you publish the presentation locally and then find the 'data' folder in the published output and the audio files will be named in a way that you can infer the slide they are associated with. Not the simplest proceedure but it should be pretty painless.

  • ***FONT ISSUES: How do I create a font repository/server??? ***

Before I explain my font problem, let me first say that I hope that SOMEONE out there/here has good knowledge of fonts, (storage/management/etc.) and can take the time to help me out with my problem. I'd be ETERNALLY grateful for a solution to this problem!! Let me also explain the workflow setup I am coming from. I work at a production company that has 3 edit suites, accessing media from a SAN, managed by FibreJet software. We are running Apple Mac Pro's with 2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon chips, and 8 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM memory. The 3 stations can have READ access to any one drive on the SAN at the same time with no problem, but only one station at a time can have WRITE access to a drive. We each have our own fonts (~2500) on our local systems, and we are all using Extensis Suitcase Fusion 12.1.6 to manage our fonts.
Over the past few months, a couple of projects have reminded us that we have to address a problem in the way we manage our fonts. A project was started in Edit 1 (E1). Footage was loaded, music added and graphics created all in E1. The graphics were made in the Title 3D generator. Near the end of the project, a change had to be made and the original editor and edit suite (E1) was unavailable, so another editor needed to make the change in E2. This is a workflow that we use all the time, and usually don't have a problem. However, this time, when the graphic change was made, either the font that was originally used was missing from E2, or it was not activated. In either case, FCP simply substituted another font in it's place. Unlike Photoshop, FCP does not give any warning when this happens, it just changes the font, so unless you are familiar with the project, you may not know that the change occurred.
As I said, these problems have reminded us that we have to address a problem in the way we manage our fonts. One solution I have thought of would be to consolidate all our fonts onto one of our SAN media drives, and always read that drive. We would then add fonts from this drive, instead of adding from our individual local drives, and hopefully avoiding the "font-switch" problem in the future.
Questions arise, such as: Will Extensis read a font from a SAN drive, or does it have to be local? Will there be a problem with the fact that the drive will be READ only, as opposed to having WRITE access, since all three of us cannot write to the same drive at the same time? Should we just use Apple's own FontBook, instead of Extensis Suitcase, or do we even look into something like Linotype's FontExplorer X, (which I stumbled upon during searches for solutions to our problem)?
If anyone has any answers to my questions, or any solutions we haven't thought of, I'd be very grateful for your help!

Will Extensis read a font from a SAN drive, or does it have to be local?
Here's a bit of information on a SAN setup.
Storage Area Network (SAN) is a high-speed subnetwork of shared storage devices. A storage device is a machine that contains nothing but a disk or disks for storing data. A SAN's architecture works in a way that makes all storage devices available to all servers on a LAN or WAN. As more storage devices are added to a SAN, they too will be accessible from any server in the larger network. In this case, the server merely acts as a pathway between the end user and the stored data.
Because stored data does not reside directly on any of a network's servers, server power is utilized for business applications, and network capacity is released to the end user.
So as I understand it, your Mac's will all see data on a SAN drive array the same as it would a drive that is part of any LAN or WAN. In other words, if activating fonts from a drive on a typical server works, then doing so from a SAN should work the same.
That said, I've never had the opportunity to try it. The easiest way to find out would be to simply drag some fonts into Suitcase that you know are on the SAN storage and see if the activate as you would expect. An issue that may come up is that multiple users may not be able to activate the same fonts at the same time. That wouldn't specifically be a write issue since Suitcase doesn't need to perform a write when opening fonts (other than to update the font cache files on the local drive), but rather if the server considers the files "locked" (in use) to the first user to access them. All depends on how the server is set up, or how Suitcase handles fonts it currently has active. That is, will the server lock the files, or Suitcase, if either?
One solution I have thought of would be to consolidate all our fonts onto one of our SAN media drives, and always read that drive. We would then add fonts from this drive, instead of adding from our individual local drives, and hopefully avoiding the "font-switch" problem in the future.
That would be my first suggestion whether you can read simultaneously read the fonts from the SAN drive or not. I imagine each project is kept in its own folder. Within that, all fonts should be kept together in a single subfolder. An obvious name for that folder is good, such as "Fonts_jobnumber". If Suitcase and/or the server will allow all of you to access the same fonts at the same time, just activate them from the SAN. If not, copy the fonts to your local drive first and then activate.
Should we just use Apple's own FontBook, instead of Extensis Suitcase, or do we even look into something like Linotype's FontExplorer X, (which I stumbled upon during searches for solutions to our problem)?
Font Book is a very weak font manager. It's only advantage in a case like this is that every font you open gets copied to the local drive into one of the two Fonts folder you can designate in its preferences. Then you're always opening the fonts locally. The bad part is that when you use hundreds or thousands of fonts, they all get copied to your Mac as you add fonts. This increases startup times, sometimes dramatically as Font Book has to check all of those fonts during startup against its database to see which should be active and which not. The larger that database gets, the more likely it is to get corrupted.
Suitcase is a far more elegant solution for heavy font usage since you can activate fonts in place. They don't need to be copied anywhere to use them. FontExplorer X can be set up to do the same thing. Depending on what features of Suitcase you use, you may still prefer it over FontExplorer X, even though the latter is free.

  • How create new font in sap

    Hi,
We want use Times roman in our smart form.
i tried to load the fonts using spad and se73.
still it is not reflecting in the report.
    regards,
    viren.

    Hi,
Apart from SE73 i think that you have to create a new print control, which will probably contain the name of the font in hexadecimal code. I am not very sure of that but you can find the following SAP note a bit helpful...
    <b>SAP Note Number: 12462
How can I define a new printer font?</b>Version: 7, Note Language: EN, Released on: 28.08.1998
    Symptom
    Key word:  Printer font
What settings have to be made to define a new font for an R/3 device type (that is, a new printer font) that can be used for SAPscript documentation output.
    Additional key words
Printer, font, printer font, device type, fontmetrics, AFM file, SE73
    Cause and prerequisites
You would like to use a new font on the printer.
    Solution
    General advice:
    1. This procedure can be used only if the desired font is available on the printer (that is, installed on the printer itself, installed via font cassette, resident in the printer via softfont download or, in case of device type SAPWIN/WIN, installed on the Windows PC) and can be called with a short printer command (max. 29 bytes). This printer command is maintained in the print control.
    Solution procedure:
    1. The original SAP printer type used previously must be copied to a customer printer type with a name starting with Z... (see Note 3166 for reasoning behind this). The function "Utilities->Copy device type" from transaction SPAD (spool administration) is used for this.
Example: HPLJIIID is copied to ZHPLJ3.
    2. A new print control SFxxx must be maintained for device type Z.... It contains in most cases the printer control commands for setting the desired font. To find out what this printer command looks like, refer to the printer manual and the print controls SFxxx already contained in printer definition  Z... . A certain amount of knowledge of the printer language is a prerequisite. The xxx numbering of the SFxxx print controls is arbitrary.
NOTE: The exact contents of the SFxxx print controls depend on the SAPscript printer driver used. For information on this, consult the CD documentation ("Basis system administration printer handbook") and the field documentation (F1 help) for input field "Print control" in SE73, Printer font maintenance.
Printer driver HPL2 (PCL 5 printer):
SFxxx must contain the PCL 5 command for character set and print selection. CAUTION: As of Release 4.0A there are special rules which apply if the flag "Scalable font" is activated.
Printer driver POST (Post script printer):
SFxxx must contain the name of the Post script font, for example "Helvetica"
Printer driver PRES (Kyocera PRESCRIBE printer):
SFxxx must contain the PRESCRIBE command "FONT xx:" for font selection, for example "FONT 42;"
Printer driver SWIN (Windows print via SAPWIN/SAP1pd):
SFxxx must contain the Windows font name. CAUTION: As of Release 4.0A special rules apply if the flag "Scalable font" is activated for the printer font.
    Printer driver STN2 (Target printer):
SFxxx must contain the complete command for the selection of the
character set, the increment, bold and italic print and font.
Print control SFxxx is defined for device type Z... in transaction SPAD under the heading "Print control for device type". Example: print control SF900 for device type ZHPLJ3 with replacement text (i.e. printer command)
    1B28304E1B28733070313068313276307330623354 is created.
    3. In the SAPscript font maintenance transaction SE73 under "Printer fonts", a new entry must be made for the desired font on the desired device type. The following information must be given:
    &#61607;     device type  Z...
(printer type to which the font belongs)
    &#61607;     family   ....
(Font name used in R/3, for example COURIER, HELVE, LETGOTH, LNPRINT, TIMES)
    &#61607;     size      ...
(Font size 1/10 point, for example 240, for printer drivers that support scalable fonts, 000 is entered here)
    &#61607;     bold      .
(X if bold type, otherwise blank)
    &#61607;     italic    .
(X if italic type, otherwise blank)
    &#61607;     CPI       ..,..
(number of characters per inch (CPI)
If font is not a proportional font (for example HELVE,TIMES),
    for example 05.00)
    &#61607;     PrtCtl 1 SFxxx
(Refer to field documentation (F1 Document) for exact meaning. The name of the 2nd created printer control is normally entered here.
    &#61607;     PrtCtl 2 SFxxx
Refer to field documentation (F1 document) for exact meaning. The name of the 2nd created printer control is normally entered here.
If the font is a proportional font (HELVE or TIMES), an AFM file that contains the width values for the individual characters in the font must be entered under "Printer fonts" in SE73. Direct maintenance of the AFM data is done from the list of printer fonts with Menu "Edit -> fontmetric using a menu function. To do this you place the cursor on the line with the newly created printer font and choose "Edit->Copy fontmetrics" on the menu. If you have created, for example, a new printer font
    ZHPLJ3 HELVE 200 _ _
you can copy the metric of
    ZHPLJ3 HELVE 160 _ _
    here.
Releases before 3.0A do not have this menu function, and you must manually copy the AFM files from the group box to the new printer font via the XX.XX function in the AFM editor. Then the new AFM files can be checked for correctness (Menu "Fontmetrics ->Check") and saved.
As of Release 3.0 it is possible to establish a link to the fontmetrics of another device type or to a default (all characters with width 500) instead of copying the fontmetrics explicitly. You can check the correctness of the complete font definition in SE73 in the list of printer fonts with the function "Edit->Generate font def.".
    4. As a final step, the device type of the output device used must be changed from the SAP original to the new printer definition Z... in transaction SPAD. This is done in SPAD under the heading "Output devices".
Example: printer LP05 previously had device type HPLJIIID and is now being given device type ZHPLJ3.
    Source code corrections

  • Can you package files in Premiere Pro CS6 like you do in Indesign so you don't looses links?

Can you package files in Premiere Pro CS6 like you do in Indesign so you don't looses links?
We are sorting out our filing system and want to be able to move files and rushes to new locations without loosing the links between them, is their a way of doing this? When using InDesign you package a file and it creates a folder of links and fonts, something like this would be useful.

Have a look at the Project Manager.

  • Error: Cannot find or create the font '0, Bold'...

I get this error when I try to open a .pdf file that someone sent to me. "Cannot find or create the font '0, Bold'. Some characters may not display or print correctly."
I use gmail and can view the file but as soon as I save it or try to print it and adobe reader opens the file I can't see the any of the letters just lines of dots where the text is supposed to be.
I did a quick search to see if there was already something in the forums or on the web but didn't find anything right away. I would like to print the file so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like the file is corrupt. Try contacting the file's creator.

  • How to create a font?

I designed a typeface in Illustrator but would like to make it a font that I can import into my font book. And then use in Illustrator. Does anyone know how to do this?

    Wade_Zimmerman wrote:
Would be a nice feature especially being tied to Adobe
I have to contradict you here. There are enough well-designed fonts out there, most of them of course commercial, and I don't really see the requirement for Adobe to have such a feature in any of their apps nor to turn this into a market. Simply put: creating a real good typeface is a lot of work, and as much as this may pain some people, just designing a few pretty curves is the least part of the exercise. A much bigger part is making those curves look good in any combination, make the font technically clean, manage kerning, hinting and specific Unicode features, even more so if it is meant for mass text. All of that way too complex for an average user, who, by all means should get there by rearranging his stuff inside Illustrator for more graphical use cases. And even if creating a font is required, it should not be too much to invest 99 USD into a simple converter like TypeTool that covers the basics... Still, even then your type may just look like many, many "free" fonts, that once used outside of the context they were initially created, can really make your eyes hurt. What Adobe perhaps could/ should provide is a simple way of storing contours in font files, such as Corel Draw does with its TTF export, but I wouldn't exactly call that creating re-usable type. It's really more a means of using vector shapes more generically for dingbats or logos...

  • Creating new fonts

is there a way to create a brand new font from scratch and add it to Font Book and use it to type with?
or if you can find a font that looks like grafitti (not the artsy type)

is there a way to create a brand new font from scratch and add it to Font Book and use it to type with?
Yes, but you need specialized tools and it can be quite complex and time consuming. If you can describe what it is you are looking for, perhaps someone can suggest one already made.
    The main tools are:

  • Display font in Safari like it is in IE

Hi. I'm a new mac user. I'm wondering if there's any way to have websites display like you would see them in Internet Explorer or Netscape on a PC in regards to font. I've used macs before and never noticed that pages don't look like I'm use to i.e. the font looks to be a different font than what the page would normally use. Say for example when I go to hotmail or myspace. The pages just look off to me. They are readable and not neccesarily too small or anything but they don't look like what I consider to be "normal" font for that site. Thanks!
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Another thing to be aware of: text antialiasing is different in the Mac OS than in Windows. The difference bothers some people when they switch from Windows to the Mac OS. The Mac OS "smoothes" text much more than Windows.
You can change this behavior somewhat in System Preferences, Appearance, in the the "Font Smoothing" settings. Adjusting the setting labeled "Turn off font smoothing for text sizes _ and smaller" might make things a little closer to what you're used to. However, you'll never get exactly the same text display on a Mac as you do on a PC, so to some extent it really is something you just have to get used to.
