  • Why is a credit card needed to create an Apple ID for a minor?

I'm trying to create an Apple ID for my child and I have to have a credit card on file to do so?  What sense does this make?  If a debit card is REALLY that taboo that I can't do something as simple as this...
Anyway, why is a credit card required? What if I don't have a credit card, or don't want to use one?

  • How can I turn my ipod on remotely so that I can use the Find my Iphone app (sound mode) to find it

I have a ipod 5 gen and I lost it somewhere around the house. I've used the Find My Iphone app, but it indicates that its offline. So I'm guessing it ran out of battey or its turned off. That's why I am asking if theres anyway that I could turn my ipod back on in order for the sound to be played from FMI app. Thanks alot for any future help.

You can't, When off it is dead
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.

    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • How can i use the cloud on ipod touch 3g

any ideas how to use the cloud with the 3g ipo touch?

You need iOS 5 for iCloud. A 3G iPod can go to iOS 5. However, since you say you have iOS 4.2.1 I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • Is there any way to create an apple id for a minor child without a credit card

I only have debit cards.  I have three VISA debit cards with CVVs but they are all linked to bank accounts.  I don't have credit cards because I don't want the debt or interest rates associated with them.  I have several apple devices at my house for myself and my son.  We cut the cord on cable a while ago and only use apple TV boxes.  With the TVs, iPads, iPhones, iMac, and Macbook Air all needing an apple id, we have far exceeded my five device limit.  I feel as if I am being punished for my devotion to apple and it's products since I can't use half of them with my apple id and cannot create one for my son because of my fiscal responsibility.  There must be a way around this.  I'm not going to sign up for a credit card for the sole purpose of getting my son an apple id.  Any suggestions?

For Family Sharing, why must I add a credit card to add a child? Please explain why my debit card, on file, isn't enough…

  • HT1918 How do i change the phone number on my apple ID account so i can use messaging with my Ipod Touch 4th gen?

How do I change my phone number on my Apple ID account? Not the number for billing. I got a new Ipod touch and when I was setting it up my emails where correct but the phone number was wrong. The gentlemen at the Apple Store told me just to go on my account on my computer and change it but i cant find where. Only part i know how to change is the billing number. Thanks.

If you can remember them their current answers you can login here and change them : https://appleid.apple.com , click on 'Manage your Apple ID' and then 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of your account's page
If you can't remember their answers and you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then see if the instructions on this user tip helps you get them reset : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551

  • My iPhone was stolen and the phone is powered off. Is there anyway to command it to turn on so I can use the "Find my iPhone" app to track the location?

My iPhone 4S was stolen a few days ago, and I was able to track the location with the "Find my iPhone" app. I had it play a sound which alarmed the thief, so they powered the phone off. They have not turned it on for four days now. Is there any way I can command it to power on or anything my service provider (Verizon) can do? Any suggestions will help! Not sure what they are going to do with it since a) they have not turned it on and b) it has a passcode and won't be able to be unlocked.

If it was stolen the thief will wipe it with the result that you will not be able to track it.
Contact your carrier.  They may be able to block further use of the phone.  No good to you but then no good to the thief either.

  • Why isn't my iPhone showing up on my iCloud so I can use the Find My iPhone app?

Hey, okay so I have misplaced my iPhone and it has the Find My iPhone app on it, and is registered, but is not showing up on my iCloud so I can try to activate it.  Is there anything I can do or any alternate process to locate it besides via iCloud?

i don't want to be that guy on the fourms adding to a 2-year-old topic, but you might want to try updating iTunes. The current version is 11, and that might help with getting the computer to recognize it.
Also, have you tried unlocking your phone before plugging it in? That would resolve most mount/unmount errors.

  • My ipod 5 touch has just been stolen today. I dont know if the "find my ipod touch" is on or not and im not sure if i have the number. is there ANYTHING i can do to find it?

my ipod touch 5 got stolen today at the fair..is there any way i can get it back? im not complelty sure if "find my ipod" is on and im not sure what the C number is on it. are they any other options i can maybe try? i know i have whatever photos that are on my ipod or whatever photos are taken automatically go my private photo album on facebook

The only way to track or take additional actions is if Find my iPod was enabled. Go to http://icloud.com, click Find my iPhone; if it doesn't list your iPod then it wasn't enabled.

  • HT204053 how do i create an apple id for my 12 yr old?

how do i create an apple id for my 12 yr old?

    Welcome to the community.
Unfortunately, you cannot do that. The first hurdle that you are going to face, is that mobile devices, by virtue of being prone to loss, will always require that a password is entered before a purchase of any kind is made.
If your concern about the password, is related to your privacy in regard to your mail, contacts and calendar information rather than their acces to make purchases, then the best solution would be for you to use another Apple ID for iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud too.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photostream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
