Can I create an HDMI video input to my iPad4?

  • How can I create a live video with my mac mini?

I have a new mac mini and a logitech webcam, ilife 2011, even a professional external mike, if necessary.  How can I create a live video to upload to YouTube and the like?

If you're talking about LIVE video (as in, people can see what you're doing RIGHT NOW), you can't host that on Youtube (yet), although there are applications (not part of iLife, though) to let you stream to a personal website. If you just want to record yourself, then upload it, sure, you can do so using iMovie 11.
This page explains iMovie's iSight import feature - provided your webcam is supported, the same should work for you.

  • HDMI Video input upgrade for HP Pavilion Elite m9060n Media-Center PC...What is simplest route?

The Media Centre came with TV tuner etc; I have upgraded the Graphics card to Nvidia GeForce 450GTS which has two HDMI outputs. I need an HDMI input to get the best signal input from my cable box...the best input the existing TV tuner offers is "S-Video",which ain't exactly high-grade. What is the simplest solution for a tech-challenged individual like me? (I don't really need "tuning" facility...but require some form of input. If you help a media-moron the gods will bless you.

You cannot run an HDMI out from a cable-box to a PC Tv-Tuner card in port. THe main reason is industry standard copy protection and HDCP. Unfortunately, you have an NTSC only tuner - so the answer is no HD from cable...only ATSC from an aerial antenna. If you install a QAM tuner, you can run the coax directly in and get unprotected HD programming.

  • How can I create VI's with inputs which will execute immediately when updated?

I am using LabView to control stepper motors. I would like to create a VI with a front panel which has 4 directional arrows, 2 per motor. My goal is to be able to run the VI and then press a button to move the motor.
I have created separate VI for each funcition of the motors - a vi to set the holding current, one to set the moving current, another to move up by a certain amount, and so on. These vi's work and I can move and adjust the motors, but only by running separate VI.
How can i combine them into one VI and have them execute at the press of a button or change of a property? An example would be to set a new holding current, and have the holding current vi execute immediately and send the command to the motor. Then keep on pressing the directional buttons without having to hit "run" on another vi.
    Thank you very much
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The event structure will allow you to handle user input and execute when controls are used.  A "value change" event is what you're looking for.

  • How can you create a karaoke video with the music lyrics?

I'm working on a generic music video.  I want to add written lyrics to the video so that people watching can follow along with the singing.  What is the best way to create trailing lyric highlights to the way the song is sung?

QuickTime Player Pro ($30) and lots of patience.
QuickTime Player supports "text" tracks and, with some special manipulation, can display the text "karaoke" style.
QuickTime Player 7.6.6 (not the X version) can play ".kar" files. Millions of them found on the Web and easy to download. They include MIDI audio (computer generated sound) and are very tiny in file size.
    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/64/
I downloaded a .kar file using QuickTime Player Pro and the Movie Properties window, extracted the text track and then changed the text using TextEdit. I then added my new text track and deleted the original.

  • Can you create "Pop Up Video" on an iMac?

Is there an application that let's you create videos with the pop-up boxes that you can put comments into?
I am using iMovie 08 and putting together a video mixing in photos and video from my daughters soccer team and I thought it would be cool to add in little pop-up boxes about the team members as the show plays.
I do not think iMovie 08 has this feature. Is it in iMovie 09? Do I need another app like Final Cut Express (ex: create movie in iMovie 08 and then export it to another app to add in these kinds of additional "pop up" features)?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts/advice.

to my knowledge, iMovie doesn't have capabilities for this sort of thing. As for iMovie '09, I highly doubt that it would do it ether (I'm still running '08).
FCE would definitely do what you want, but now you're talking some serious editing. Unless your in for a long haul, it takes quite a bit of learning to master FCE. Of course if you're into it, then it's fun!

  • How can i create a audio/video quiz?

    Hi there,
I would like to be able to create a quizes using audio and video. For example, i'd like to create a "Matching" quiz when an audio file is played and the student has to match the correct vowel that is heard in the audio file. If possible i'd like to be able to apply audio to all the quizes ("true/false" etc).
Can someone please help me with this? Or should i use a different software? I hope someone can help me.
    Kind regards,
    Sander

Do you have to publish to HTML5? I'm asking this, because object audio is not yet supported for that output AFAIK. And it is with object audio that you can have the best control.
Which version do you use? That is also important, because the commands Play Audio, and Stop Triggered Audio only exist in Captivate 6, and could be handy as well as object audio.
It is perfectly possible to add slide audio to your Matching question slide, but perhaps you'll want to offer the possibility to replay the audio clip? But first, answer my questions please.
I have been blogging about audio, here are a couple of links:

  • Can Imovie11 create a 4K video output?

I can import and edit a 4K video (3840x2160) but when I create my movie it produces a 1080P file.

I would think if your timeline is progressive, that the output would be progressive.  One way to confirm is to part the timeline on a frame with a great deal of movement.  If you say a steady image on your monitor...

  • HDMI only output ( using HDMI as input )

    Hello,
I'm wondering if is possible to use the new MacMini for streaming.
If the HDMI port can be used as a video input then I can use it with Quicktime Broadcaster feeding from a video camera equiped with HDMI.
Is that possible or the HDMI port is output only?
    thanks in advance.

You can get an HDMI capture card for the Mac Pro, but obviously this will not fit in a Mac mini! See http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/
It is not clear whether this will work with sources using the ghastly HDCP content protection.
There is also the Elgato EyeTV HD which will record from a component (not HDMI) source and this would work with a Mac mini as it connects via USB. See http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/products/EyeTV-HD/product1.en.html

  • MacBookPro:Can you add firewire drive & video device at same time?

I want to buy a MacBook Pro 15" to edit on FCP and FCXpress, but i am concerned that there is only one Firewire Bus (and plug). I have a Canopus AVC 100 and an external firewire 400 drive and want to use both at the same time. I have always been told that you have been told you can not add a firewire video input source or a hard drive on the same firewire bus. The internal drive is not big enough for my projects and I want to capture directly to the external drive. I have been looking at several solutions, such as adding an ExpressCard-ePCI to give me an additional Firewire Bus. (The FireWire 800 addition would also be a bonus.) Are the two Firewire ports (400 & 800)on the 17" MacBook Pro on the same bus (resolving this problem)? I am looking to see what other editors are doing to solve this issue?

You shouldn't have any problems either
I field dozens of questions each week with issues on desktops and laptops due to the single FW bus limitation.
Glad it works for you, but please don't assume it will work in all configurations.
Some cams and FW devices do not play well together.
For less than $80.00 you can get a ExpressCard/34 firewire card.
I believe it's a good investment, particularly for the high overhead in FCS 5.1.

  • Video Input Tecra S2

How can I put on a Video input on my Tecra S2. I want to play Xbox 360 in HD on my Notebook. Is that possible? Maybe there is a dockingstation or something like that.
    Hope someone can help me

    Hi
I agree with Jaba. Your unit has no video input port like some newer units and you will not be able to use notebook display for something like that.
I believe that the only solution can be some external device that can transfer the picture into notebook using USB port or even PCMCIA card. For example I have connected my VHS recorder to my older Portege using Pinacle studio xxx. Sorry but I can not remember the right name of this hardware part.
