Can I create hdtv slideshow output on DVD

Can I create hd output on DVD?

the highest output I see is 720 x 480??
thanks,

>HD output from my commercial progressive scan DVD player
Not possible... to have HD output you need one of the "announced but not shipped" players, since the DVD specification does not provide for HD content that will play out to your HD Television... you simply can't stuff HD content on a DVD and have it play from the DVD to a TV

  • How can I copy my slideshow to a dvd?

How can I copy my slideshow on a dvd?

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

How can I create a slideshow that depicts only a version of a photo rather than the original?   Since the original and new versions are saved together, the aperture slideshow often choices the original rather than the desired version to display.

There are two things we use the name "Slideshow" for in Aperture:  a Slideshow Album, used for making Slideshows, and the Slideshow that is made.  (Imho, it is a design mistake to not call the containers used to create Slideshows, Books, etc., "Albums".)
The Slideshow will use the Album Pick from any Stack.  A good way to use Aperture is to promote the Image you want to regularly use (such as, for example, a Version with adjustments) to the top of the Stack.  This makes it the Stack Pick, and will be the default Album Pick.  If you haven't done that, you can still change the Album Pick for any Stack in a Slideshow Album.  Expand your Stack(s), select the Image in each Stack that you want to be the Album Pick (and thus shown in the Slideshow), and "Stacks➞Set Album Pick".  (Note the keyboard shortcut; there is also a Toolbar icon for this.)  The change is immediate.  The Slideshow will always show the Album Pick (or, if there is not one, the Stack Pick) for every Stack in your Slideshow Album.

Ask in the iDVD forum on what's the best way out of iPhoto and into iDVD.  The resident expert there, Bengt Wärleby, can give you the best option.

  • Pairing Garmin with BT: Can't create connection: Input/output error

I'm learning how to use BT in linux.  I have a Garmin and a CE device that has bluetooth capability.  Both are in discovery mode.
Running "hcitool cc [macaddr]" to pair the Garmin looks promising, the Garmin receives the, well, transaction (what's this called?), and says the passkey is 1234.  However, I press OK on the Garmin, and it shows a second message that the connection failed.  Looking at my PC, I see this in the terminal:
    Can't create connection: Input/output error
    What am I doing wrong?

Check here. Also have you done a TimeMachine back up?

  • Can't burn iPhoto slideshow to a DVD. Can you help?

I have made a slide show from photos in iPhoto.  It works fine and I have published it to my "me gallery".  I now want to make a DVD of this slideshow.  I have tried to use an old version of Toast and I get an error message after the slideshow has been formated and "supposedly" burned.  I've tried to burn it from the iTunes application and that doesn't work either.  Can anyone help?

The only way to get a slideshow into iDVD with the transitions, music, etc. that you see in iPhoto is to use the "Create" button in iPhoto to create the slideshow:
Then create the slideshow in the slideshow mode and use the Export button at the bottom to export the slideshow at a QT movie.
Since iDVD resized media down to 640 x 480 choose the size closest to that, but larger. Then open iDVD, select your theme and drag the movie into the menu being sure to avoid any drop zones.
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good and you can then burn to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • How can i create a slideshow with the newest version of dreamweaver?

I am trying to figure out how to create a slideshow but i cannot find any explanations for the new version of Dreamweaver. Can anyone help?

DW doesn't make slideshows.  You'll need to use a jQuery plugin or a 3rd party commercial Extension.
    Do a web search for:
    jQuery Cycle2
    jQuery WOW Slider
    jQuery Fancybox2
    Primer for using jQuery Plugins

  • How can I burn a slideshow to a DVD from with in iPhoro?

I have several slideshows that I spent a long time working on on a old drive that I don't use. How can I bring the slideshows across in tact so that I don't have to spend a huge amount of time organizing the photos again and, even worse, having to redo all the manual Ken Burn's effects so that zoom right from one part of the photo to the other part.
I suppose I could send the slideshow to iDVD but I don't think I would then be able to import it into iPhoto.

Yes. To get a larger, widescreen, QT movie you will have to use iMovie. I recommend you useiMovie HD 6 as it's much better for adding music, etc.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • PSE9 Can't create a slideshow with .jpg photo and .mov video

    Hi
I don't find some informations how to make a slideshow where I can use my .jpg photos AND my .mov vidoes - both are coming from my Panasonic Digitalcamera.
I bought PSE9 because everywhere is written that this is the right product to create a slideshow / Diashow... with photos and vidoes.
But if I want use the "Diashow" I get the information that this is only for windows player and all my .mov videos which I can play in the PSE9 are NOT in the Diashow.
Knows everyone how I can come further with my holidayvideo???
    Thanks in advance
    Herlinde

guess PRE will work fine for your mov files. ...

  • Creating 2 slideshows - burn to dvd

Hey everyone. I am new to using Encore and have a question in regards to creating slideshows. I have created 2 seperate slideshows, each with images and music and I would like to know how I can put them together to burn on a dvd. I would need the first slideshow to play all the way through, and then the second one to play right after the first. Ideally, I would like to have them keep looping over and over again as the dvd will be continuiosly played in the background during a party.
Is this something that is easy to do in Encore? I am currently using Encore CS5.1.
    Thank you in advance!

Stan's reply assumes that you have your two slideshows in the same project at the moment - I am not clear from your post whether this is the case.  If they are in separate projects, you will need to re-build your project with both slideshows in the one project.

  • Can I create a custom output settings from Compressor 4 and use it as a export setting in iMovie 10.0.4?

I'm currently using iMovie 8.0.6 However I want to upgrade by downloading iMovie 10.0.4 but I'm upset that iMovie 10.0.4 doesn't give us "Export using Quicktime" option like iMove 9.0.6 and lower versions do (look at picture below)
So I wanted to know could I create a Compressor 4 output setting and use that as a exporting option in iMovie 10.0.4?

    Yes and No:
No, you can not - as in FCPX - create your own 'Share Destinations', iM lacks (officially) any APIs too teach it new tricks.
Yes, export from with iM in a high-res format (e.g. 1080 Apple devices), and use that as source for any Compressor output Same workflow, for free, would do Mpeg Streamclip, the most recommended converter tool for MacOs....

  • How to create a slideshow on a DVD

I have a slideshow of pictures I created in iPhoto. I want to burn that to a DVD to play at a birthday party.

It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as well as which version of iPhoto you're using.

  • Can you create master-detail output using a PDF template?

My starting point is a pre-designed PDF template for producing purchase orders. This has a fixed background containing graphics and text. Over this I have overlaid the required fields and in the PO line section have defined a repeating group.
This works correctly only if the XML input file contains one and only one PO. If I want to produce multiple PO's (and I do) then is there a way to nest the repeating groups so that for each PO a new header is printed followed by the lines, i.e. a standard master-detail report? This is promised in the "XML Publisher Business Applications" powerpoint :-)
I know this can be done using an RTF template, but I have not found a way of fixing the positions of all the boilerplate text/graphics, as required, using Word. (The final section, which contains additional "header" information gets pushed down the page as PO lines are added.)
    Any help gratefully received.

    That depends.
Are they asking you to put a copy of your actual signature on there or are they asking for a "digital signature"?
    They are different things.

  • How can I create a DVD (not CD) slide show with PSE8. Is the only option CD?

Do I need to upgrade to PSE9 for the DVD option for slide show output?

No, you can't create a video dvd with just PSE, and PSE 9 is no different from any other version where this is concerned. (Adobe wants you to use Premiere Elements.) However, if you have a DVD burner, you must have gotten some kind of software with it that can make a DVD for you. Create your slideshow, output as WMV and then use your other software to burn the actual video disc.
