Can I create two mail icons in the dock for two separate accounts?

I'm trying to set up two mail icons in the dock - one for my wife's e-mail, one for me - all under the administrator iMac log in. I'm trying to do this without her having to have a separate mac log in. Is this possible? If so, how do I duplicate the postage stamp mail icon and capability?

If there are two users on one Mac, the best approach is to have two user accounts, one for you and one for your wife.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
The new user account will appear to be a whole different Mac, and she can set it up to her liking (different mouse settings, desktop background, Dock appearance, etc.) without affecting anything in your user account. If you enable Fast User Switching, both users can be logged in at the same time, and switch using the right corner of the Menu Bar.
With separate accounts, each persons instance of Mail will be their own and go to their email account.

  • Can you copy/paste files from the Finder to Mail in Lion, or drag them onto the Mail icon in the Dock to create a new message and attach the files to it?

Message title says it: Can you copy/paste files from the Finder to Mail in Lion, or drag them onto the Mail icon in the Dock to create a new message and attach the files to it?
I can't find anything in the Knowledge Base that says these two options no longer work or still do.
I do not have a system capable of running Lion, but I need to know the answer nonetheless.

Gee, I don't know: "paste attachments mail Lion"? ;-)
One further question, if I may: in Panther (which is where I've aggregated nearly 7 years of mail), if you copy more than one file in the Finder, switch to Mail, and paste the files into a new message, only the file names paste in. If you copy one file and paste it into a Mail message, you get the file, not just the name. Is that still true, or has that (IMHO) bug been fixed since 10.3.9?

  • How do I remove the superscript number from the Mail icon on the Dock?

I have unsuccessfully  searched all folders and topics on the left side of the Mail page to find one supposed incoming email, as the Mail icon indicates with a numeral One on the Mail Icon in the dock to no avail.  How can I either find this unread email via a shortcut, or remove the superscript "1" from the Mail icon on the Dock? Thanks!

Hmm, this seems kind of too obvious, but when I look at Mail, in the MAILBOXES sidebar on the left, every mailbox and folder has an oval to the right of its name listing how many unread messages it has.  (Sadly, I have a lot of ovals with big numbers in them!)
Doesn't one of your ovals have a "1" in it?
    Hope that helps...

  • Jumping Mail icon in the Dock difficult to click

I have set up some mailboxes to make the icon jump in the dock on new mail - and it happens frequently that I need multiple clicks on that icon to get Mail to front. If it's just in the upper position, the area below the icon seems to be a void room where clicking doesn't work.
Sometimes I feel I should exercise with a fast paced shooter game ... or am I just getting old?

    Hi Marsias,
Sometimes I feel I should exercise with a fast paced shooter game ... or am I just getting old?
Yes, you are to slow ...
Just go with the mouse pointer to the Mail icon in the Dock, at the moment that it starts to jump ... don't follow it UP & DOWN. Just wait until it is back down in the Dock and click on it.
Or, shut down the Mail notification that it jumps ... it will only have a red sign with amount of incoming mails in ti ... like 1 - 2 - 3- etc ...
Also you can hear when you have new mail by the sound you set for incoming NEW MAIL.

  • Dragging attachment on to Mail icon in the Dock

Dragging an attachment on to the Mail icon in the Dock opens up 2 Mail windows instead of one, is anyone else having this problem?

As the developer of MailTags I will confirm it is a bug in the initial public beta of MailTags for Leopard. I am looking into it but it probably will not be fixed in the next public beta due out in a couple of days, unless something comes up that this is more than inconvenience bug.

  • IMac with Lion. I have an icon on the dock for Fluenz software but it has a white circle around it with a white slash through it (like the international "no" sign).  What does the circle mean?

I have an iMac using Lion. I have an icon on the dock for Fluenz software but it has a white circle around it with a white slash through it (like the international "no" sign).  What does the circle mean?  The Fluenz software seems to work ok.

Checkout the software vendor's website for updates:

Your only other option is to boot from an OS X 10.6 system.

  • How do I get an iCloud icon onto the dock for my MacBook Pro?

I assume the easiest way to access iCloud is by putting an icon onto my MacBook Pro DOCK.   Is this correct?  And if it is, how do I install the icon onto the Dock?

There is no iCloud application, therefore no iCloud icon. Think of it as a 'service' that is accessible thru other applications, preferences and devices.
If you use the iCloud web site a lot, you could add an icon to the web site.

  • Web site icon on the dock for OSX 10.7.4

Why the spring icon dosen't appera in the dock when I drag the web site icon in the dock?
    I'm using version OSX 10.7.4.
    Thanks

Drag the icon of the URL,  in this sample, the apple, to the right side of the desktop.  The spring will appear.

  • Can I replace "spring" url icons in the dock w/ custom ones?

    Hi,
I have a program (IconBox) that I can replace icons with on my iMac and I just got a set of cool icons of those little springs--all in different colors and stuff. I would like to stick some of those colored icons on the little spring url icons in my dock...but as you are aware I'm sure...those icons are like "virtual". They don't exist in my files like all the other icons do (as far as I know)...they are only in the dock.
And yet...I have installed programs that had little colored spring url's in the pkg. and they did indeed go into the dock--colors intact. So...I'm pretty sure it CAN be done (somehow...hehe!).
So...if anybody knows if, and how, it can be done...please tell me. I would appreciate it a lot.
    Thanx.

    No. That didn't work.
But it gave me an idea...
I knew that if you dragged the url to the desktop instead of the dock...it would make a little dog-earred piece of paper icon instead of the spring. I replaced that piece-of-paper with the colored spring, and then dragged it to the dock...and it works!
So thanx very much! I wouldn't have thought of that w/o you.

  • How can I create a bounce effect against the floor for movieclips with different (end) y-positions?

    Hi,
I have some movieclips I want to move with a bounce effect.
First I wanted to do that with the tween class. But I want to
be able to define de bounce-effect itself.
My movieclips have different ending y-positions but I want
them all to bounce against the "floor".
Can anyone help me with this?

Make the floor a movieclip or put a clear movieclip over the
floor. Use hitTest to catch when they hit the floor. Note your
floor has to be larger than the largest deltaY or it's possible to
completely miss the floor and move right off the stage.

  • Two X11 icons in the dock

I've read a few threads about this, and all seem to say "don't launch X11 with the icon". But the thing is, I'm not: I just double-click GIMP, and then I get the 2 X11 dock icons, with one endlessly bouncing. GIMP does launch & works fine.
I checked and there's no .xintirc in my home directory.
But how do I prevent this double-icon thing?

OK, FWIW I went to Gimp.org and got the final release for Leopard, and this no longer spwns the second icon. YMMV.

  • I use AOL for my sins and I have to open Mail Inbox for the red alert to appear on the Mail icon in the Dock. How do I get the red alert to appear first? I have obviously tweaked something, because it used to do that. I'm new here, my MacBook just 5 days.

LOL.....I'm new here and I thought I had to type all my question in the Title Box.....LOL
Anyhow, I think you get the gist of it.
