Can I delete the folder in the vault drive called "images deleted from Aperture Lib" ?
I am reorganizing and separting my main Aperture library into smaller libs...in my vault drive there is a folder (always been there) that is called "images deleted from Aperture library"...it contains the images I deleted after emptying the Aperture trash. It is large (200Gig) and I want to delete it in finder (put in the trash then delete it...is this a safe practice? Thanks...Steve
Yes.
When you delete photos from Aperture that are in a vault, the next time you update the vault, the images from the vault will be moved to that folder. You can delete it as you see fit... it's your last and final chance to decide if you didn't want to delete a file

When I click the star to bookmark a site it goes into the recently bookmarked area of the library. I then drag or cut or copy and past it into a folder I already have in the bookmark library, but it doesn't disappear from the recently bookmarked. If I delete it from the recent, it also gets deleted from the folder in the library.

I had Copernic Desktop Search installed with an add in to Firefox. On removing CDTS it has left the add-in and the remove button is inactive ie greyed out and I can not delkete it or see the folder in the extensions. Help appreciated to get rid of it.
uninstalled firefox ....deleted all files still remaining under mozilla firefox directory in program files ... to avoid having to reprogram all my settings, reisntall all addons as well .. I did not remove anything from mozilla firefox that is stored in either appdata or under the windows users directory (if any)
... the as suggested reinstalled the latest version of the firefox browser using the link you provided in the email ..; tested and several issues still remain present and unresolved ....
so please this is urgent or I will have to jump browsers and start using chrome .. because we work 14 hours a day 6 (sometimes 7) days a week, to get ready for the launch of our newest venture and we cannot lose that much days on browser related issues ... so please instead of putting me through week long step process .. of do this .. do that .. can you please actually look into the issue from your end .. How can I make a folder in the TV shows for my home movies collection? I have created a folder in the library in finder and put all the videos in there but they do not appear in itunes.
pshultzIt's best to never move iTunes media around in Finder. Add it to the Library through the iTunes interface by dragging them into the window. Once they've been added to the library, you can try using Get Info on the files in iTunes and change the tag info to make them group together. (A unique album name should do this.) If you want them to be included with TV Shows, you can try using Get Info to set the Kind to TV Show (found under the Options tab in Get Info), but I'm not sure if it will work. Otherwise, you could make a playlist and drag them into to access them all in one convenient spot.
If you add the items as noted above and they still do not appear in your library, it's probably because they are not a compatible format.

Cannot delete the Folder on the desktop after Mavericks update. when I try to delete it, it is asking for logon password, When I give the logon password, it plays a sound of moving to Trash, but the folder still remains on the desktop

I'm trying to share a folder between users on a single mac. I want both users to be able to read and write so the folder stays current on both accounts. I put the folder in "shared," set permissions on folder so other user can read and write, enabled file sharing, but can't find the folder on the second user's account. Any help?
Did you log out of one account and into the other or just used Fast user switching?
Is the permissions set to anyone?
When you move data to teh Shared folder is it copied or just moved?
If copied then it's not a folder both can access, just a way station like a USB thumb drive that things are coped too and off of likely.
You can run this #5 on each user account to reset the user permissions once they are taken back out of the Shared folder

i have an external hard drive and i am using between the windows pc and mac ... recently i found there is a folder in trash can i can not empty ... i tried to empty it in the terminal by typing rm & space ... drag the folder into the terminal with a green plus sign ... but i still can empty the folder in the trash can ... any advise...

KevinOpen the subfolder in it's own window. The window has focus, that's why the new folder is created at its root level.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
I have about 130 gigs of movies on my iTunes and was wondering if I can just put them on my backup hard drive and remove them from my main computer to free up the space.
I haven't done this with an external drive, but I would imagine it works the same way as if you have multiple internal drives. Also hopefully it works with less headache in OSX than in windows.
Anyway, move all your music over to your external, and then go into itunes -> preferences -> advanced -> iTunes media folder location. Navigate to your drive, and pick the folder you want. Ensure that your folders are set up like they are in your ~/Music/iTunes folder, or wherever your iTunes is currently pointing. Then quit and restart itunes. If your music doesn't show up, try dragging your music folder from your external onto itunes, and it will hopefully update your library.xml.
As far as Jerry's problem goes, you could try adding another music folder to your library.xml, but I really have no idea whether this will work or not. If you want to give it a try (can't promise you won't corrupt your library.xml, so make a copy beforehand) you can find the music folder xml element right near the top of the xml file (open it with textedit/textmate/whatever text editor you want (NOT WORD)). Curious to know if this works, and if it doesn't I have other ideas so let me know. -
I followed all of the directions after seeing that my laptop flashed the folder with the question mark. But when I went to disk utility to repair/ verify issues w/ start up disk it would not allow me to. The buttons to repair and modify we're there but they were grey and couldn't be pressed.
Were you trying to repair the disk you were booted from? You can't do that - you need to boot from your install disk, and choose 'Disk Utility' from the 'install' menu.

My macbook pro is still under warranty. I have just put it into Mac 1 to be repaired because I had the folder with the dreaded Question mark on it....new hard drive. I was told that if I wanted my data retrieved, I would have to pay $445 p/h. Ahh!!! Shouldn't that be covered by warranty?
My newest Mac just did the same "folder of death" dance. It's too late for you now, but you might consider a passport backup drive.You can get 2&3 T-bytes now fairly reasonably priced. A given with computers is they will crash, just a question of how bad and when, so you can be prepared for the next time.

Assuming the information in your profile is correct then boot from the install DVD for you MBP. From there you should be able to run Disk Utility to check out the disk drive. -

You can find the location of the cache on the about:cache page (open that page via the location bar like a website).
Only large image and media files are stored as individual files on disk.<br />
Other files are stored in a few large container files (_CACHE_XXX_) in the cache folder and not as separate files on disk.<br />
The individual files on disk have random names without a file extension for security reasons: you can't open an application or start a downloaded virus inadvertently by clicking a file in the cache folder.<br />
You can look at this extension for easier access to files in the cache.
