Can I direct connect FIOS service to a TV without any boxes or adapters?

I just built a new small bedroom in my basement, and am about to buy a new 22" flat screen TV that will be hung on the wall. If the cabling is split with a bi-directional splitter, do I need to have another adapter in my house? I already have 2 of them plus a box, and a DVR in the livingroom- I'm not trying to add more to my already high Verizon bill. If I need to have a box, I may reconsider putting cable in the room. Any thoughts anyone has would be great.
P.S. Are bi-directional splitters able to be bought at Radio Shack or Home improvement center?

Bi-directional splitters are available at radio shack and home depot just make sure you get a splitter that is at least 1000mgh this will prevent pixelation that would eventually occur

    Yes, but back up the library first. Note that if you're using Mac OS X 10.5.8, you won't be able to update iTunes past 10.6.3.

    i currently have an iphone that i connect to my mac air to download music, i have now bought a nano for my wife can we use both devices on the same air without any problems???

    My wife and I both have the iPhone 4 and it's actually pretty simple. Add another user on your MBA (her) and she can use the other iTunes when she is logged in. The iTunes is empty and will erase her iPhone, so be sure that she syncs her iPhone, then back up her library onto a portable media device like I did (SD Card) and reload it onto her empty iTunes on your MBA before she attempts to sync with it.
    Works well...

    Whatever you read was incorrect. You can upgrade directly to Mavericks. It is in the App Store and is free.
    Snow Leopard predates the operating system you already have. That's the reason it will not install on your MacBook Air. You spent $20 needlessly for it, but it's yours to resell if you wish.

  • Can't direct connect to... Well, most people.

    First off: Intel iMac, OS 10.4.7.
    I think it may be only AIM users, but I can not seem to send images using direct connect to much of anybody now. I simply get greyed out text that says "An AIM error has occurred. Unable to talk directly to your buddy." and then sometimes it also says "Direct Instant Message session refused."
    However they fiddle with their firewalls, it still won't work. To make matters worse, they can send me pictures, and I can receive them. This tells me it's a problem on my side and not theirs. Again, I can send pictures to a couple people (they use things like Trillian and stuff). I couldn't even send a picture to a fellow iChat user.

    Hi Daveecee,
    As Rj has said the port 5190 neds to be open in your Mac Firewall if ON and the modem and any router you have.
    The iChat Applogs on to AIM on port 5190 using the TCP protocol.
    It uses the UDP protocol for updating the Buddy List with your Buddies pics if they change, the Status messages they send and whethter they are On-line or not.
    This protocol is also used for the Direct Chats and the Group chats which are in fact the same thing and only (literally) window dressed differently by the iChat app.
    If you are using Port Forwarding to open the ports in the modem AND it is a fairly new device that offers the protocols at the same time then Open Port 5190 for UDP and make the port change in iChat that RJ suggested for logging on to AIM to avoid any conflicts.
    It does need of course to have a Buddy that:
    1) Has an application that can do group/direct chats
    2) Has opened the required ports at their end
    3) Is not blocking Direct/group chats either by settings or anything that could be possible be set in their App.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can i install fresh copy of lion on Mac without any requirement.

    I have a MacBook pro 15ich core i5. i want to install fresh lion on my system without any requirement means without snow leopard. i had downloaded a lion from app store . how do i install fresh lion on my system . thnx

    First, backup your system.
    Reboot your system, press and hold the Command-R keys at the boot chime to enter the Recovery HD. From there you can use Disk Utilities to erase your Macintosh HD and then reinstall Lion. You will need an internet connection and I can't remember if you'll be prompted for your Apple ID and password prior to Lion downloading.

  • Can we call a javascript fun through jsp page without any event

    Hi ,
    I am new to jsp,javascript and i have a little question.
    If i make a function in a js file and want to call it from a jsp file without any event ,ie can i write some thing like <%abc()%> in ths jsp page ,which call the function from another .js file.
    I suppose that it can be done as gmail page reloads it self after some time and for http mostly we use pull ie request from the client side ,so i think that they must be doing something like timer expiry and reload themselves.
    please help me with the solution.
    Thanks & Regards
    Saurabh

    sorta....
    The JS runs in the client, not on the server, so you would just be writing JS code as HTML... If your page is like this and the myscript.js file defines 2 functions (function1, function2), you can call them on page load in either of these ways. I'm not sure offhand which would get called first, but the scripts called inline in the page would be called in the order they are defined in the page. But that is all HTML, it has nothing to do with JSP.
    <head>
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="myscript.js" />
    </head>
    <body onload="function1();">
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function2();
    </script>
    </body>

  • I'm working mostly with CS6 Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro X. Can I update from 10.6.8 to Mavericks without any problems?

    Can I update to Mavericks without any problems for CS6 Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro X?

    I can't guarantee it, but I think it's very likely you'll have no problems. Mavericks is now up to 10.9.3, and it's extremely stable.

  • How can I escalate terrible FIOS service problems above FIOS field service management?

    This is a long story, but I will try to keep it short and on point.  We use Verizon FIOS for land line telephone, Internet access and TV cable.  For the past four and a half months, we have suffered serveral outages a week and sometimes several outages in a single day on all three services.  Sometimes we lose our Internet connection for a few moments.  Sometimes telephone calls get dropped or there is no dial tone.  Sometimes we see pixelation or interference in the cable TV signal.
    Often two services are affected at the same time.  We've recorded events where all three services were affected at one time.
    In the Gateway router logs, we see errors messages that "opaque does not match!" and "rebinding lease."  These messages in the router logs occur at the same time stamps when we suffer dropped calls or cable TV interference.  It seem obvious, at least to me, that the problem is external to anything that is inside of our house.
    We have opened a dozen or more support tickets.  We've had four Verizon field technicians come to our house.  We've gone through three Verizon Gateway routers.. We've accessed the Internet using only wireless connections of a week to try and rule out internal wiring problems with computer access to the Internet.
    Verizon has replaced the ONT (optical network terminal) on the side of our house.  They changed the fibre channel cable that goes from the ONT to a vault out by the curb of the street.
    We have opened a formal complaint with the FCC and with the PA Public Utility Commission.  But the problem has not been resolved.  We think that we're just getting the run around now from Verizon field service.  Yesterday, a service manager left me a voicemail where he suggested that our Internet problem was caused by a second router that we had hooked up to the Verizon router.  We DO NOT have a second router.  He said that there was a problem with cable TV interference in my area and 2nd level support was working on it.  He did not address the dropped landline calls.  He did not address why outages on more than one service would occur at the same time.
    Does anyone have any advice on how I get our problem escalated?  We are at the end of our rope here and are considering canceling our service with Verizon and going with a competitor.  But even after all of this, we are hesitant to switch providers because we will lose our email accounts that we've used for well over a decade.

    Hi wepeccant,
    Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
    Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. The title of your post is the link. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • After updating to 10.7.4 can no longer connect to a NAS using afp. Any ideas?

    Just upgraded to 10.7.4 from 10.6.8.
    We use a NAS to store and back-up work but am now unable to connect using afp.
    I can connect using SMB but this means I loose all the resource forks on my fonts etc.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Linc
    Thanks for that. Had absolutely no idea what most of that meant but it seems to have worked.
    Many thanks again.

  • Can LabVIEW run as a service on WinNT kernels [without a user logon]?

    Is it possible to run LabVIEW as a service on a WinNT kernel [NT 4.0, 2000, or 2003]?
    I.e. is it possible to run LabVIEW without a user logging on?
    Or must there always be a user logged on before LabVIEW can be run?
    Also, if standard-issue National Instruments LabVIEW cannot run as a service, then are there any third party products [maybe from Endevo, or Vogel Automatisierungstechnik] that have the ability to create something like a "LabVIEW-lite" that can run as a service [without a user logon]?
    Thanks!

    Windows
    =======
    LabVIEW code can run within a service, but LV does not support being built as a service.
    What is the difference? An NT Service requires a special exported API and integration with the NT Service Manager. We do not build that kind of EXE, just the regular EXE. However, you can build your LV application into a DLL and then load that up from your own service host EXE.
    However, there are a couple of gotcha's that happen when running as a service. First remember that you cannot have any UI - so if any of your VI's attempt to open their front panel, you are going to be in trouble. Second, there is an issue with pumping Windows messages in LV right now. See my blog article on ASP.NET and LV (which is LV running in a service - the aspnet_wp.exe service). My blog link is in my signature.
    Also remember that while a service doesn't need a user to log in, it itself is going to log into Windows to get the security credentials. You'll need to think about what credentials you want the application running under when you configure the NT service. Remember, Local System, which is the default, means that you have super user priv. on the local machine, but no NT Network permissions. It is generally a good idea to create an NT Workgroup or Domain account specifically for the service so that you can control what permissions it has.
    Other Platforms
    ===============
    Linux and Solaris daemons are a bit more straightforward and so, I think, both the EXE and DLL should work. However, I haven't done daemon work in over 10 years so I won't promise anything
    I have never worked on a Mac so I have no idea. But X is really a Unix OS so I imagine it would be the same as Linux. However, for all platforms supported by LV, building into a library and then calling the library from the OS's service host *should* work. Just the same rules about the UI.
