Can I do Home Sharing over two diffident Wi-Fi networks?

I have home sharing set up on my computer, but can I play music from my computer on my laptop when I'm in somebody else's Wi-Fi?

Your computers, iPod Touch, iPad, or iPhone must be connected to the same wi-fi network.

  • Can i use home sharing when two different apple accounts are on the same computer?

will home sharing work when two iTunes Libraries are on the same computer?

Can you be more clear about what you mean. More detail please.
Is this the solution you are looking for?
Log in to both user accounts and launch iTunes. Turn on Home Sharing from the 'Advanced' menu at the top of the screen.
Leave iTunes running and use Fast User Switching to switch between user accounts. You will notice that each user's library of media is available to the other user and you can copy media from the other user to the current user's account.

  • Can You Home Sharing Between Two iTunes Accounts

    Hi,
My Dad has a vast amount of music on his itunes account and my old iPod used to be linked up to his account. But recently I got a iPhone 4 and I created my own iTunes account. I would like to be able to listen to the music on my Dad's account as well as the few songs I've purchased on mu account. Can I use home sharing (or something similar) so that I can listen to his music and my music on my iPhone?
    Thanks in advance!

Simply enable Home Sharing with the same iTunes account info on all devices.
You still make purchases using your own iTunes account.

  • TS2972 is it possible to use home sharing between two users on the same computer?

My wife and I have itunes accounts and want to be able to share music we have each bought on our accounts. We have tried setting up the home sharing on our PC but it doesn't show up on the screen. Can anyone please help?

"Is it possible to use home sharing between two users on the same computer?"
No. Home sharing is used to connect two running instances of iTunes across a network. When you switch users on the computer all applications running on the other profile are suspended.
You can however share your respective media folders so that they are visible in either profile and then copy over any content that you want, or you could create a single joint library which you use when either user is logged in.

  • How can I use home sharing between our iphones (create playlists from both accounts at once)

How can I use home sharing between our iphones, so that we can create playlists with songs from both of our libraries?  We share a Macbook Pro (separate accounts) and each have the new iphone, but when I have my iphone and try to create a new playlist, I can only grab songs from one account.  Is there a way to create a playlist using both accounts since we are sharing?
Does it have to be created within iTunes first on our Mac?

The short answer: because Home Sharing isn't designed for sharing apps, and apps aren't designed to be shared.
The longer answer:  Think of it like this...
You download some music in iTunes.  With Home Sharing, another user can listen to it by streaming it over the network.  But the data itself is on your computer.  If you turn off the computer or take it off the network, the other user can't access it.
But if you send another user the app, they aren't just streaming the data- they installed it on their iOS device.  Because they weren't the one that purchased it, such a transfer could easily be considered "piracy" or "stealing," and nobody likes that (least of all, Apple).
When iTunes sees this app, it obviously recognized it, as if saying, "Hey, how did you get this app on your device, if I have no record of you purchasing/downloading it from the iTunes store?"

  • HT3819 Can I use Home Sharing to permanently Transfer my old iTunes Library to a new macbook pro?

    Hi,
I have a quick questoin regarding iTunes Home Sharing.
    1. Can I use Home Sharing to transfer music from my iTunes Library on my old Power Mac to iTunes on my new MacBook Pro?
    2. If I deauthorise iTunes on my old Power Mac will I lose my music on my new iTunes Library on my Macbook Pro - essentially are the two somehow linked together? I want to erase my old HD, wipe it clean, chuck it in a case and use as a back up storage, and then sell my old Power Mac.
    Thanks in advance.

Home Sharing is only for PCs that are connected in the same network

  • HT4557 Can I use Home Sharing with only another person's iPad but with out the other person's computer?

Would like to share music with someone.  Currently the computer registered with the iPad is out of commission.  But since you can pretty much do everything on the iPad another computer was not purchased.  How can I utilize home sharing with out two computers?

You don't.  Otherwise they would have called it Device sharing.

  • Can't get Home Sharing to work with ATV, v7.0.3 and iTunes 12.1.0.50

I can't get Home Sharing to work. I'm looking at my MacBook screen and iTunes says Home Sharing is On. On Apple TV, it says Turn On Home Sharing in iTunes. Both are using the same Apple ID and password (signed out and signed back in manually on both). I have tried the following: Signing out of and into Home Sharing on Apple TV and iTunes, closing iTunes and restarting the MacBook, restarting and restoring Apple TV to factory settings, restarting my router, all possible iterations of the aforementioned. Nothing seems to work. Also tried renaming my computer in preferences/sharing.
    Any new ideas?
    Using ATV3 software v7.0.3
    iTunes software v12.1.0.50
MacBook software OS X Yosemite v10.10.2

Only have one network; wireless. On it's own, the MacBook can use wifi to surf the net and Apple TV can watch movie previews from Apple via wifi.
It did work about two months ago. I haven't used it since then for home sharing but have used the Apple TV on its own.
I read the Troubleshooting page on Apple Support. It involves turning various things on and off, which I did

  • How can I use home sharing? (main computer)

Well, I have a Windows PC and almost on my music is in Home Sharing with my sister (her computer is the main computer, I'm pretty sure) . When her computer is closed, the home sharing disapeers.
Is there anything I can do so that I can always have home sharing or move the music to my music folder? Something like that?
    Any help will be appreciated!
    Thank you!

First, make sure you've got the home share set up on both computers, as per the following document:
iTunes: Setting up Home Sharing on your computer
Have both computers running and have iTunes open on both computers.
Now, in the iTunes on the computer you want to transfer music to, select the library that you want to transfer music from, as per the following screenshot:
Once the other library loads, go down to the bottom of the screen and in "Show:" select "Items not in my library":
If you want to import all of the songs you can now see, head up to the iTunes menu bar and go "Edit > Select all". Then head down to the bottom of the screen again and click the "Import" button in the bottom-right-hand corner.

  • How can I get music from one computer to another? Can't understand home sharing

I can't get home sharing to work for some reason.  Any tips?

Copy it to a flash drive, cd, dvd, external drive, etc then copy to your other computer.
To move the entire library, type "move itunes library" or similar into the google search bar

If you are using the same iTunes library (meaning the exact same iTunes folder), it should work fine.
