Can I do LIVE broadcasts of sporting events With My MacBook?

I want to broadcast live basketball games for my son's school. I would like to do audio and video broadcasts. I have a 13 inch Macbook Unibody (not Pro). Is this possible? And what extra equipment do I need?
Thanks,
Curt

I am wanting for the public to be able to listen to or watch my son's school's basketball, baseball and football games via their home computer. Currently, no local radio station broadcasts their games because they are a smaller school and there's not enough local advertising to make it attractive to broadcast the games over air.
The Macbook's camera will not be able to film the action on court, as it occurs. I would like to use an external camera and plug it into the USB on the Macbook and then broadcast over the web so people could watch on their computer or listen over iPhone.
Do you know of any Servers that could be used for live broadcasts? I have seen some, but they've said for "Windows" based PC's. I want something Mac compatible.

If things seem to be going haywire with your phone, it seems that it MAY be a software issue.
Now, that being said, that does not necessarily mean that it is a virus. Software issues do happen sometimes. It is probably just coincidence.
What you need to do is restore the device using iTunes. This will fix any software issues. After you have done this, you can restore from an iCloud backup.
iCloud does not back up the actual software, so no, the "virus" would not have gotten into the backups.
The link below provides steps on restoring your device using iTunes as well as how to restore from an iCloud backup.

Don't worry! Everything should be back to normal if you follow these steps.

  • How can i get in work my Hp scaner with my macbook pro?

how can i get in use my Hp scaner with my macbook pro?

You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode with the MacBook as the main screen. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the TV but you can move the cursor onto the TV screen.
In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen.
The TV will now have the Dock and Menu Bar and windows will open on it. But you can move the cursor to the MacBook screen and move windows from the TV over to the MacBook screen.
You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box. That will give you the same screen at the same resolution on both the MacBook and the external monitor.

Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. You can purchase replacement discs from Apple.
Or, you can upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion:
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Live Capture During Sporting Event

I would like to capture as I go during a sporting event. Lots of starts and stops between plays. Is this possible? Thanks!

One other suggestion. Run a second camera. You never know when some giant person will decide to stand up right in front of your camera at a critical moment. Run tape in it too.
And just to back up all the nay sayers, a short story. This summer I decided to do a time lapse video of a simple 1 day construction project (rebuilding a wood shed). I've done these videos over the years and they yield fun results. The camera was set up where no one would touch it and the computer was placed in a secure flat spot. Power was provided to both camera and computer and both were under cover if it started to rain.
The capture was started (using Premiere 6.5s interval capture btw) and it was grabbing a frame every 15 secs as requested. Well, about 3 hours into the deal, someone came by and decided the computer looked too vulnerable where I placed it and closed the lid. I didn't see this happen as I was in the middle of ripping some 2x8s to use as braces. We worked into the early afternoon and broke for lunch. As I was walking over to get my cooler, I noticed the computer lid was closed and guess what - it put the computer to sleep. All capturing stopped at that point and I had no tape running in the camera. When I opened up the computer lid, the machine came back to life and was trying to make up for lost time BUT, there were NO images from the period with the lid closed, which was during the critical construction stages. Oh well, lesson learned. There will be a TAPE BACKUP next time.
The moral (if there is one) If it's not a well intentioned friend trying to 'save' your equipment, its a totally clueless bystander who doesn't care one whit about you, your equipment or your project who will block the camera, knock over the computer or generally screw up the process. The only way to salvage these situations is to have backup plans and redundant capture devices.
    Still, it can be done.

  • Can anyone recommend a backlit keyboard to use with the Macbook Pro?

I like to hook my laptop up to a larger monitor and work that way while at home with an external keyboard hooked up by usb. I am using an older mac keyboard but its hard to see the keys if the room is not well lit. Can someone recommend a backlit external keyboard to use with the macbook pro that has a number pad? This seems really hard to find for some reason... Thanks!

Logitech makes a USB-powered backlit keyboard but it is for Windows PCs. You should check its Web site to see if it has a similar one for Macs.

  • Can I stream live iPhone App Sports to my TV

    Hi,
I have a great sports App to watch live games on my iPhone.  I now have a iPhone to TV cable. I can watch saved videos but not the live sports app stream.  Is there an App or setting that makes this possible?

The app in question must support video out, if it does not, then it is not possible for that app.
