I don't think the debate is with the tool that is Flash but rather the swf/flv formats. SWF is typically for animations and this is where the HTML5 canvas and other elements come into play. But based on the amount of posts on the DW forum alone how people "expect" the web to be like InDesign, I don't see a tool like Flash going away anytime soon. Same thing goes for FLV which is in many respects like WMV format in that it is a container for other formats. I would anticipate FLV to fall off the map altogether replaced by MPEG-4 (sorry Firefox fans, but I don't see the OGG format winning this online format war).
Eventually I think Flash will still be around as an animation tool but I'm don't see it only supporting the proprietary Flash format. The web and design is forcing Flash to evolve whether Adobe likes it or not. It's more a question of whether they want to keep the Flash program relevant or whether they want it to face the fate of Netscape as it was to the browser wars.

Flash cs3 unexpected file format ... how can I open this .fla??

Hi there,
Someone sent me a .fla file that I can't seem to get opened in my Flash CS3 program. I think it's because it was made in CS4 which isn't backwards compatible with CS3.
So, now I'm wondering if there is a way I can open the .fla file in CS3. Better yet, is there some kind soul here that could possibly open the .fla in CS4, and save it as a CS3 and send it back to me?
I would normally just ask the guy to do this himself but he left on vacation today and I haven't had a chance to try and open the file until now.

You might be able to use the newest adobe reader program/application for that.
You would have to save your pdf out of photoshop cs3 without any text and then add the text to the pdf in adobe reader.
The text added in adobe reader can't be edited in photoshop, so the other people would have to adobe reader or acrobat to edit the text.

You may try to buy elsewhere. You may come across offers of new and unopened box sets, and used ones. There is quite a number of rules concerning the legality of taking over Adobe software from others, in some cases requiring a licence transfer.

It was from InDesign that I was creating the shared pdfs. I was one of two Mac drivers in a corporate sea of Win users and had to make the change I mentioned in order for the Win users to see my pdfs for review. The difference from what you appear to be doing was that were all on an MS Exchange Server so the files were shared over the company's Exchange Server e-mail system. However, some of these files occasionally went to outside users via regular e-mail and those people had no issues either.
So what I did was tested and worked for years.
You might look at the Adobe forums or Knowledge Base to see if that is a reported issue with newer version of CS. I was on CS2 when I was doing this, and the other Mac driver was on CS3 but had no problems either.
Some Win users I've talked to find a problem opening some pdfs (not mine) in general and found they had to open Reader first and them open the file from Reader's File menu. That most often happened if the client was using an outdated version of Reader.

Run the cleaner, reinstall.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
And don't bother with running any updates unless you really need them or they fix a critical issue relevant to your workflow.

First, this post is not to flame Aperture. It is intended to demonstrate features that need improvement, in an effort to bring the feature set up.
Aperture and Lightroom both have cloning/spotting tools.
IMO the clone/heal tool in LR is superior.

Added a dark vignette, desaturated all colors and brought back just orange and some red for a quick non destructive hand tint, but the orange powercord, being orange stuck out..

GRANTED, PS/CS3 would do a better job, but IMO this is good enough and only took a minute. Plus it kept me out of PS/CS3

Using the color adjustments in Aperture to can selectively desaturate all colors and increase the saturation of red and yellow to get a similar effect.
I do agree that the patch tool is not even close to the one in Lightroom. I miss as well the vignette tool in Aperture.
When adjusting a wedding for example a proper patch tool and a vignette tool will save all the round trips to photoshop when creating proofs or web galleries to show to customers.
If we had some kind of quick mask and a buttom to allow new adjustments on an area of the image will save lots of round trips to photoshop in final images. For example, need to light up someone's face in a photo. Select this quick mask tool, paint on the face, press on the buttom that would say 'new adjusment area' and use levels to lighting it up. Would be perfect for me.

ColdFusion Login Wizard: How do you access this in Dreamweaver CS3

MX 2004' using the 'Adobe Extension Manager'. This then gave access
to the 'Coldfusion Login Wizard' available under
'Commands/Coldfusion Login Wizard'.
However, the file 'CFMX7DreamWeaverExtensions.mxp' generates
the error 'This version of the 'CFMX7 Extensions' extension is not
compatible with Dreamweaver CS3 when installing in Dreamweaver CS3.
I have downloaded 'dwmx2004_extensions_for_cfmx7.mxp' from
http://www.adobe.com/support/coldfusion/downloads.html
but this doesn't work!
I cannot find an equivalent .mxp file on the Adobe website or
explanation anywhere despite exhaustive searching!

Can't paste photos into DW CS3

Hi, I'm doing tutorials with Lynda.com - I've gone through
the essentials of CS3 and am onto Beyond the Basics and I'm stuck.
I'm having problems with roundtrip editing.
I'm on a mac and I'm trying to copy a merged photo from
Photoshop into Dreamweaver and the paste options are greyed out. I
opened the photo using the PS icon. I haven't moved any of the
source files.
Dreamweaver also isn't updating photos when I modify them
inbetween working in DW and working in PS.
I can't move ahead in my tutorials till I can figure out this
important feature.
Any help is much appreciated - hope I've haven't worded it to
be too confusing!

file size should be between 20 bytes for a small button up to

100 KB for a banner. Smaller file size is usually better for
page load
speed. Rule of thumb: Optimize image in Photoshop until it

degrades, then back off a notch or 2.

Go to vector tools and choose the donut tool. Draw a circle and use the yellow spots to adjust the edges minimize the fill area and drag the segment you want to cut so it looks like you want. For the circle choose no fill, and stroke about 20-25px , stroke category 1-pixel soft.
