Can I down load my ipod music to my Mac?

The other day I have a few problem with my iBook G4, and I ended up re-installing the operating system. I do not know where I put the disk that I used to make the itunes back up. I will like to know if I can download al the music that is in my ipod to my iBook G4. I got more than 1,000 songs in my Ipod and i need help to tranfer all my songs to my computer. I will like to know if this can be done?

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7 A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac. The procedure is a bit involved but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If you prefer something more automated there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos and photos as well. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing content manually on iPod
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.

  • Can not down load older purchased music

I Have and IPAD w/retina display.  Problem.  deleted all playlist from my iTunes By accident.  Seems like the libraries are gone.  I went to the store to down load my purchased music and it will not allow me to download the music.  Also I purchased a new song and it wouldn't let me down but it showed up in my music.  All I need to know is how I can get my music back unto my IPad.  I do not have access to the Internet all the time so it's critical that the music gets back to my IPad.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    P.S.
I Do have a Windows PC which still seems to have the music. I tried to share but it didn't work.

If you are in a country where you can redownload music (and if the music is still in the store and you haven't changed countries since buying it) then it should show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes Store app for redownloading.
For home sharing, you can use that to stream content to an iOS device (home sharing has to be enabled by the same account on both your computer's iTunes and iPad, and they have to be connected to the same network), but you can't use it to copy content to an iOS device.
You should be able to resent your music back to your iPad from your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351.

  • How to down load 30GB ipod music to my computer?

My 30GB ipod battery only gives me 5 hrs. of play time. If I do the download to check the battery, I will loose the music that was downloaded into the ipod. To save the music, I want to down load the 2.5 GB of music to my computer. How does one do this?

There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes

  • Can't down load from a cd to my mac it says its in DOS mode

can any one help me to subtract information from a cd to my mac as it says im running in DOS mode ?

Not sure of the exact problem here.  But if you are not booted into OSX and it is defaulting to some windows boot then boot with the option key down and then select an appropriate OSX boot volume using the arrow keys on the list that is presented to you.
Ot maybe the cd is in a windows format that the mac is having some kind of problem with.

I do not know if it is the case with iPhones, but it is with iPods:
if you have purchased the music and movies on your iPod from the same account that you computer is authorized to, you can transfer the purchases from your iPod to your iTunes. This is the only way I know of to transfer your purchases. Did you ever make a backup?

  • Can i down load music free

how can i down load song free to my iphone

If the song is free on the iTunes store, you can download it for free. If it's not, you can't. That's what's called theft.
Maybe you need to clarify your question a bit.

  • HT4847 If I have a 16 gig phone but buy more i cloud can I down load more if my phone had reached its limit memory

    Hi guys
I have a 16 gig phone which is at its limit I want more storage if you but more I cloud will that free up my internal memory for me to down load more
    Thanks

Your music is only available to stream and play from iCloud if you subscribe to iTunes Match.  Otherwise, only music purchased from the iTunes store is only available to redownload, and only if still available in the iTunes store.
Your music should be stored in your iTunes library and you can use iTunes to manage which songs you sync to your phone at any given time.  You can do this on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings, where you can choose to sync only selected artists, albums, playlist and genres; or by check Sync only checked songs and videos on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings, then checking only the songs you want on your phone prior to syncing.
