Can I download Leopard

and burn it onto a disc and install it on my iBook.
I am currently running Tiger (10.4.8) and need to upgrade to Leopard.
I have a 4.7G DVD and a Double Layer 8.5G DVD. (not sure what the double layer is for, but I do have one.)
I do not know how large the download is and if I can use a DVD instead of a CD.

There is no free or paid download of Leopard. You have to buy.

Leopard is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753).
If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:
MB427Z/A  Leopard 10.5.1 install DVD
MB576Z/A  Leopard 10.5.4 install DVD
MB021Z/A  Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (single user)
MB022Z/A  Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (5-user family pack)

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Installation and Setup Guide

After you install the base 10.5, download & install the 10.5.8 combo update at http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update
The DVD should look like this
Caution - Leopard does not support classic mode. So, if you currently open OS 9 apps in classic mode, you won't be able to do this if you upgrade to Leopard.

  • Where Can I Download Leopard as a DMG File?

Hello. Does anyone know where I can install OS X Leopard, but not from a disk? I've tried searching the web. No luck. I want a DMG file to install Leopard. Please reply even if you're just saying you don't know how or it can't be done.

And, is it a PPC Mac, or an Intel Mac?
Most PPC Macs cannot boot from USB, only Firewire.

  • Downloading Leopard?

Okay, well I plan on getting a Macbook or Macbook Pro soon. But I live in Mexico, and the only reason I'm getting one is because my parents can make monthly payments on it. Now, I went today to Office Max to go check it out and the only one they had that met my requirements (160GB HDD and 2GB RAM) was a Macbook pro. Now, I want to have to most up to date Macbook out there, so I checked the lable. Much to my distress I see that despite it having a 2.4 Core 2 Duo processor and all the hardware up to date, it's still running on Tiger and iLife '06. Then I noticed a sign that was right next to it that said "Buy a new Mac and download the OSX Leopard for FREE.
When I asked the clerk about this he said it was true and that they showed them how it was done (but he didn't remember how. <_<) and that supposedly they gave you some sort of code to get it and you have to download it/install it in the form of an update or something.
Then I asked him about iLife '08 (Because I know it's supposed to come bundled with it now) and he said he wasn't sure but that he thought that when you downloaded Leopard you'd download iLife '08 as well.
Well, I really wanna know if this is true or not because, honestly, I'm buying this because I need a computer that will run photoshop quickly along with my tablet so that I can actually work on my art. =(
I don't want to have to realise later that I have to buy Leopard and iLife '08 separately and have to install them, potentially crippling/erasing my system/files. =(
So yeah, I just wanted to know if this was possible or whether it was a load of bull. =(

I seriously doubt that anyone can legally download Leopard, not even a dealer, not even an Apple Store.
iLife '08 is not on the Leopard DVD. It's a separate package.
I would order a computer from Apple directly and be sure it comes with Leopard and iLife preinstalled. That's the safe way.

Are you connected via wifi? If so, and it is an option, try connecting using a ethernet cable. It sometimes seems to help as it can give a more reliable connection for the 5.3gb download.
If you do manage to download it you may want to make a copy of the installer file - which gets downloaded to the Applications folder - before running it as it self-deletes on successful installation. It may save you another monster download in the future.

Currently, I have Leopard 10.5.8. How can i download and install Snow Leopard or Lion? Thanks for your help.

You need to *call* Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE, as Ralph already said.
But "since one week" sounds like a direct translation of French "il y a".  You should call your local country's Apple suuport and ask.

Where can I download xcode for snow leopard?

I am a paid member of the developer program, and Xcode 4.2 for Snow Leopard does not appear in the downloads area. I just joined today and received email confirmation, but perhaps this update to my account has not worked its way through to Apple's back-end yet. Nevertheless, it appears that Xcode 4.2 for Snow Leopard is not available any more to anyone, whether they are paid members or not.

  • Can I download Yosemite onto a thumb drive and install it on snow leopard later

can I download Yosemite onto a thumb drive and install it on snow leopard later

    Yes.
Create a bootable installer for OS X Mavericks or Yosemite - Apple Support
Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. Copy and paste the following command line in its entirety into the Terminal window.
    sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite\ Developer\ Preview.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite\ Developer\ Preview.app --nointeraction
Press RETURN, enter admin password (will not echo to the window) then press RETURN again.
You need to have the installer in your Applications folder or change the paths in the above command line.

  • Can't download anything in Leopard

Since I installed Leopard I'm unable to install anything because my administrators name and password is not valid. Apple may have an update to take care of the problem as shown below however I can't download a fix because I have to give my administrators name and password. Yikes! Help!
The Login & Keychain Update 1.0 for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard is recommended for all Leopard installations. It addresses issues you may encounter when:
Logging in with an account originally created in Mac OS X 10.1 or earlier that has a password of 8 or more characters.

I've got the same problem as musichouse2. I downloaded 10.5.1 on my G4 Laptop on 1/12/08; three days later the popup window won't let me in. It seems like everything I left the PC world for is coming back and biting me in the butt. I'm not a techie and am dubious about trying out what's been recommended in article 306876, so if any of you smart folk out there have walked the walk, I'd appreciate any assistance you can lend.
