Can I downscale only part of a sequence?

Let me explain: I have a series of 1080p clips of a presentation with various animations and slides interspersed between each clip. Currently, when exporting, the video is 2.18gb. This doesn't do well when piped down a dedicated T1 from an overseas server. I tried downscaling to 720 and this caused the file size to diminish greatly. The problem? All of the powerpoint slides that I put into the sequence get so blurry that they're very hard to read. Is it possible to downscale all of my shot footage to 720 (or lower) and leave the slides at 1080? I feel like there isn't any conventional way to do this so if I have to use some unorthodox workaround, I'm open to it. At this point, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not possible that I can think of..however, what are your encoding settings? That may be an area where the 1080 video could be made smaller. Can you post a screen shot of the AME encoding settings?
Thanks

  • How to send only part of a sequence to Encore?

    Hi
I'm new to CS5.5 and I've been trying to figure out how to send only part of a sequence to Encore from PPro. I see in the Help file that it says this can be done but it doesn't explain how to do this (or I haven't been able to find where it's explained). When I use "send to Encore" with dynamic link it sends the whole sequence even though I've tried marking in/out or marking the section I want with the work area bar. Is it not possible to do this using dynamic link?
    Thanks!
    Steve

Playing around with this a bit I found another method in addition to the one you described. I found I can mark part of the sequence with the work area bar and then use Export. The Export screen has an option to send the entire sequence or only the part under the work bar. Then I imported it into Encore and since it was exported with final disc settings Encore didn't have to encode it.
But I think I will send in a feature request. Hopefully a lot of other people will also ask for this.
    Thanks
    Steve

  • Exporting only part of the Sequence

I do not have any in and out points on my sequence, but when I export, only part of the sequence exports. I have chosen numerous encoding presets, tried placing in and out points at the beginning and end, but it still does not work.

I've tried exporting through DV NTSC and DVCPRO720p60.
Say if I had a 10 minute sequence, then it'd only export 3/4th of it.

  • Can I burn only part of a song

Is it possible to burn only part of a song and put only the edited portion onto a CD? Please let me know - thank you!

Go to Get Info for the song and then select the Option tab. There you can specify a different start and/or stop time. Once that's done, when you burn the song to a CD it will be "trimmed" according to your settings.
In addition to this working for CD burning, it also works for making a digital copy of the song without burning to CD. Once you set the start/stop time, select "Convert Selection to (whatever your current import format is set to)".

  • Can I purchase only PART of  Sun Studio 10 ???

I am a long-time UnixWare Developer who is contemplating switching myself and my clients to Solaris 10. Solaris is free of course, but Sun Studio is very expensive -- about $3000 -- which is over 10 times more than I paid for the UnixWare Development Kit.
The only thing I really need is the C++ compiler and supporting libraries, and programs like "make", etc. Even though I have produced several hundred thousand lines of code, I haven't used a debugger in years, and don't need an IDE.
Can just PARTS of Sun Studio 10 be purchased independently, or is it "all or nothing"? I would be more likely make the move if I didn't have to invest in so much overkill. Components beyond the basics might hold an attraction as a separate -- and later -- investment.
    Thanks,
David H. Braun (owner/developer, MultiTask ComputerWorks)
P.S. -- If this is not currently possible, could someone pass this on as a suggestion to higher authorities at Sun. Enabling smaller quantum leaps always increases the likelihood a transition will take place.

  • How can I download only part of my library?

I've started purchasing movies to stream to my television through AppleTV, but I'm running out of space on my MacBook Pro. I'm considering buying a Mac Mini and running it as part of my entertainment system instead of storing the movies on the laptop. Once that's working, I'd like to remove the movies from the laptop to free up disk space. So--
Is it possible to authorize two machines (laptop, Mac Mini) on an iTunes account but then only download purchases to one or the other? If so, how? In this case, I'd like to download purchased movies to the Mac Mini and music and books to the laptop.
    Thanks.

  • How can I transfer only part of a playlist to iPod?

This new iTunes is a nightmare.  Because the **** iPod touch is only 16GB, I want to transfer PART of several playlists to the iPod.  I do not want to delete songs from my Library permanently, I only want to have the same playlists on my iPod as I have in iTunes, but reduced versions of them because of the size limitation.  I also want to jkeep the same basic playlist structure as my overall library, but only a portion of each playlist will end up on the iPod.  In previous versions of iTunes, I could drag an entire palylist to the iPod, then I could go in and delete songs or albums from the iPod in order to fit other playlists.  This version will not let me do that.  Please help!

What exactly is the nightmare part? Playlists are the same as they've always been.
Perhaps one idea, after we find out exactly what the issue is that you are having, is to create Smart Playlists, and use those to Sync to your iPod.
With a Smart Playlist, you set rules. You could create a Smart Playlist that looks at you first Playlist, but only includes songs that haven't been played for a while. So after a song has been played, it is removed from the Playlist and only put back again after x weeks, or x months, according to your preferences and the size of the Playlist.
All that happens automatically, at Sync time. So after setting them up, you don't have to do anything except Sync the iPod every now and again, and possibly modify the rules if you find the list is still too large, or now not large enough.

  • How can I OCR only part of a long document?

OCR with a pdf file is usually very simple.  Not here.  This is a legal-type document (PDF) with with line numbers on the left and vertical lines on both sides of the text I want to OCR.  If OCR includes the line numbers I will have to spend hours removing them. The left side also include a law firm's name and the bottom has the title of the document, both of which I have blocked out.  (Line numbering was fairly common on pre-printed legal stationery in the typewriter days; most courts have gotten beyond the way things were done in those days but obviously.  It obviously makes OCR a challenge!)  In much earlier versions of Acrobat I used a simple tool called Eraser from a British firm (long gone) that neatly erased anything from a pdf file, such as all the stuff I want to get rid of here, before running the OCR and saving the document as a Word file. That tool does not work with Acrobat 9 and the version I am now using, Acrobat X.  Oh, and just retyping all the text is not an option for me.
There MUST be a way to do this!  Any suggestions?

Redaction will certainly do the job but it is horribly tedious**.  My document is 19 pages.  With 3 such redactions per page I am looking at close to 60 redactions, one at a time.  All the redactions are identical.  That is, the stuff I want to remove on the left side of the page is the same for each of the 19 pages.  Same with the stuff to be removed on the right and the bottom.  I can't see any way to apply my redaction to more than 1 page at a time.  If doing so is impossible is there a way to extract (by cropping or otherwise) the part of the page I want to use?  Obviously it is the same for all 19 pages.  Is it possible that what I want to remove is in some removable "layer" separate from the text in question?
**Even more tedious than the low tech solution I have been using for the occasions when I confronted this problem:
Print a copy of the document
Using scissors cut out the stuff I want to get rid of, a few pages at a time.
Using Acrobat scan the resulting document
Save the result as a PDF file
Open the PDF file and save is as a Word file
Open the Word file and copy/paste the absurdly formatted text into a clean Word document.  This strips out the bizarre formatting due to the scanning process.
Clean up the new Word document, save it and
Finally get to work using the text.
FYI the test I want to extract or get consists of written interrogatories or questions for which I must prepare responses.  I want the responses to include the questions.

  • How can I play only part of a song (stop the song short) during a slideshow in iphoto and fade into the next song?

I am making a slideshow and I only want to play half of one song and fade into the next. How can I do this?

You need an slideshow app that gives you more control over the Soundtrack.
    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
    iMovie, on every Mac sold.
Others, in order of price:  PhotoPresenter  $29
    PhotoToMovie  $49.95
    PulpMotion  $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
    Final Cut Express  $199
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs.  However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Express is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • Can I burn only PART of a song to disc?

    Hello,
So I want to burn only the first minute of a lot of songs ... about 30 songs ... onto one disc.
Is there any way to do this? (To just burn a partial song without altering the file with some kind of editing?)
I'm doing this as a sampler disc for someone. I dont want to affect the original files.
    Gary

You can set the stop times of all songs you want to burn to 1 minute (select track, Get Info, Options tab).
Only the first minute will be burned on Audio CD.
This will not alter the file.
If you are looking for a script to set all selected tracks, read this topic.
Instead of 30, use 60 in the line "set finish of this_track to 30"
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I transpose only part of a song?

I need to lower the key of a song that's part of a medley. The first two parts are fine, so I don't need to lower the whole thing. Is there a way that I can just lower part of the song?

You have to think of three different levels where you apply transposition
    1) MIDI Event
You can just transpose individual MIDI Events bu dragging them up or down
    2) Region
Select one or multiple Regions and use the Transpose Slider in the Inspector of the Audio or MIDI Editor. The Region Header in the Workspace (Tracks Area) will indicate  the transpose number with a number (see the screenshot)
    3) All Tracks
Apply Transposition to all Tracks with the Transposition Track by setting up the Transposition Curve, the section along the timeline that is transposed.
One important thing to keep in mind is that specific Regions (imported Audio FIles or Audio Files with Flex disabled) ignore the Transpose command and can't be transposed that way.
You can find more on all those transpose topics with a detailed explanation of the Flex Mode in my book "GarageBand X - How it Works"
In this screenshot, I transposed the Audio Region (+2) and the MIDI Region (+4). In addition I setup the Tranposition curve to transpose the Verse by +5 semitones and then go down -2 (not that this would make any sense musically).
    Hope that helps

  • Can you sync only part of an address book to a trio?

the situation: if you have lots and lots of contacts in your address book, and only want some of them on your pda, is there a way to do this?
also, is there a way to create seperate address books. I can only seem to make new groups.
    thank you.

The native sync to the treo is quite limited, so I and others have gone with MissingSync, which is quite nice. It syncs more of your email addresses and phone numbers, mapping the group to a category on the treo, and it syncs up to 7 email or phone fields. I think the native isync maxes out at 4 of those.
In MissingSync, you can specify which groups are synced. The others are ignored. So create a group called, say, syncgroup, drag the contacts you want into it (remember contacts can have more than one group so you're not actually moving them anywhere), and tell missingsync to sync that group and not the others. Done.

  • Can we change only part of application action not set bubbleEvent = false?

Our outgoing/incoming checks have a due date which have to be exchanged later, ex: 30 days later.
In SBO, the payment goes into bank account immediately which we need to change.
    Test Cases :
Case 1 : After the “ok” button on the Outgoing payments Form, there will be a Credit bank deposit which we want it later.
We want it to be changed to Notes Payable. And to have the bank deposit after the due date.
Question : We might change the G/L Acc right after the ok button. It seems that we can’t change the journal after it inserted.
Case 2: We set the OK Button’s bubbleEvent = False, and do everything by our self
    Question :
    (1)     How do we get the data on the matrix of the Payment Means Form while it didn’t save to VMP1 yet?
Is it in other temp table?
    (2)     How do we get the multi-selection on the matrix of the Outgoing payments form?
    (3)     Can we still use the original action of inserting OVPM/VMP1 only replace journal entries action?

    Hi Nerow,
First you have to be sure if this case can not be handled by the standard functionality. In the Definition of Banking under "Define Payments" you can define the payment terms, and there you can always set the date to 30 days after.
    Case1.
Refer to this thread how to get the data before it's saved. accessing batch numbers
    Case2.
You can always access a Form, then the Matrix Object and then the datasources of the matrix. This is exactly the purpose of datasources, to handle the data that is in the GUI before it's saved to the DB.

  • Can I change only part of image to grayscale

    Hi,
Got an image with a colour bottle in the foreground and some shading in the background which is a gray colouring, but obviously still made up of cmyk.
Once I isolate the bottle from the background, how do I suck the colour our of the background to leave it printing just black?
    Thanks

    PECourtejoie wrote:
P Taz, I thought that the user did not want any rich grey? And if the K layer is darkened on the grey areas?
    C'est vrai, Pierre....
But that is precisely what would be wrong with the result, no process trap.  The OP's reasoning was that it is hard to keep it neutral, but I say no, that is not a good enough reason for me.
Here are samples, first the 'grey method' and second the rich grey.  Rough example but with the rich grey you have bigger tonal range available and process trap as well.  I deliberately used a slightly blurry photo because it illustrates the point albeit slightly exaggerated...  If you could see the cyan plate on example one, there would be no cyan in the background and therefore possible fit problem to (ex) green areas, resulting in a 'cut-out' look that used to be common with litho film seps.
Example two, the edge has process trap and the cyan plate fills the areas between the blue shirt and the green leaves for example because they cannot be misregistered as they are on the one plate. I have mixed a little tone into the neutral areas to make more of the density range...
EXACTLY the same mask used for both.

  • Can you see a timeline of a sequence you've loaded into the viewer?

    Greetings Finalcutters,
OK, another query about how to access an Avid feature in Final Cut --
I find it very useful to edit from one sequence onto another. But I want to be able to do this in a frame-accurate manner. Best would be to have the sequence timeline available when it's loaded in the viewer.
Right now, to edit only part of a sequence onto another, I must load the sequence into the canvas, make in and out points on the timeline, then load it into the viewer, bring up new sequence, and make the edit.
But what if I then want to tweak my in and out points? Groan.
Any ideas, or is this just another thing to tell Apple about in their feedback page?

I just started getting this message too.  Just started the last couple of days.  It doesn't give a time that it was used.  All it says that "appleid" was used to sign in to facetime on Macbook.  My Macbook is not named "Macbook."  It also doesn't correlate to times when computer is being used.
