Can I easily find videos in iPhoto '11?
Among the 6000+ images in iPhoto are several dozen videos, mostly from digital cameras. How can easily find them, or must I scroll through everything, looking for that little movie camera icon?

How can I rotate a video in iPhoto?
My videos need to be rotated for correct orientation. Can anyone tell me how to do that in iPhoto?
You can not rotate a video in iPhoto
LN -
Hi there. I have had numberous problems with my upgrade to IOS6, particularly with the Camera/Photos. Two big ones: The camera does not orient itself properly when taking horizontal photos. You take a horizontal photo and it never rotates properly. So I have to go into Photo Shop and rotate each one manually. Sometimes it does not recognize horizontal from vertial when taking as well.
Also, I can not download ANY videos to iphoto or via Image Capture. The error I get for every video (both new videos shot after upgrade and those that date back to before the upgrade): Import Error An error occured while importing. The item ZZZZ.MOV was not imported.
I have all my software updates on both my phone and computer.
Any suggestions?I would try restarting you Mac if you haven't already. If you still can't get either iPhoto or Image Capture to work, you could try something else, like PhotoSync or PhoneView.

I can't play my videos in iPhoto
I can't play my videos in iPhoto, doubleclicking them doesn't work anymore. Is there s solution, what can I do?
Hello, Terence!
My version of the program is iPhoto'09 8.1.2 (424), my operation system is Mac OS X, version 10.6.8.
As far as what I was doing when the problem arose, I actually don't know. I have watched some of the videos I have imported from my camera on my computor before, that I do know. But it is now that I have started to make movies in iMovie that I really noticed this problem.
The video format is IMG (strangely enough) and there are no error messages. I have not been able to import these videos to iMovie, either. I have unsuccessfully searched the iPhoto and iMovie manuals for solutions.
I have installed a lot of programs on my computer, including Parallels Desktop and Windows 7 (which I put in from the start).
Thank you so much for your kind help!

I have videos in Iphoto they for some reason do not seem to be working. An error ostatus 54 comes up. I am trying to find it in the masters or original and I can't fin any of my videos in there. How do I find the videos.
Support methods as posted above by TD
File -> Export
and set the Kind to Original
will export your movie. iPhoto has no ability to compress movies at all.
Further, to find a movie within the Library package:
Select it the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original.
Just takes a little learning.

Why can't I transfer video from iphoto onto an external HD?
Can anyone tell me why I cannot transfer my iphoto video onto an external hard drive from imovie? Basically I am trying to transfer all my video from imovie onto an external hard drive to clear up space, but I cannot seem to find a way to do the video under iphoto. It let's me transfer all other video, but not the video under iphoto.
Have you tried the Export function in iPhoto? Since there is one with choices including Quicktime, I would guess that it has to be rendered first. So, you could try that and save it to your desktop and then copy it over (or, if available, directly to the external).

Can't export older videos from iPhoto
Hiya, I hope someone can help me out here.
My wife and I have a few years worth of videos that were taken on digital cameras and were imported into iPhoto. The videos from the past few years were taken on our iPhones, but the older videos were imported from our old digital camera. All of our videos play correctly within iPhoto. But I recently tried to export my videos from iPhoto, and the older videos do not play. They are very short - usually about 10K to 500K, and they are zero length. When you press play they just immediately skip to the end. It's almost like they are a photo. This happens in iMovie and when I try to play the video directly out of the finder.
Now, I did my homework on exporting and made sure to chose 'Original'. And all of the exported videos from the past three years (the iPhone videos) or so work just fine. So I don't think I messed up my iPhoto export somehow. Another interesting wrinkle is that I can choose 'locate in finder' for the older videos and find the movie that way and it plays just fine. These videos in the iPhoto library are also the correct size - 10M or so. So I suppose that if worst comes to worst I can just manually copy every single video. But I'd like for the export process to work.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

IMovie video import: It only finds videos in iPhoto?!
Based on Jobs' roll-out presentation, I expected iMovie 08 to find "all" my video files, as he stated it would. In fact, it only found and displayed my low resolution still camera videos that had been imported into iPhoto. (Does anyone actually use iPhoto for video files from DV or HD cameras?)
Granted, this is a really cool way to collect and view all those iPhoto videos that I've never really looked at before, but what I want to edit with iMovie is my DV video that is dispersed on a few drives and in many folders. I expected iMovie to search for and provide access to all of those files too.
Apparently the only way to access my DV video files is to either copy or move them. Neither is practical. Copying all that video would be a huge waste of disc space. Moving them would destroy all my existing FCP and iMovie HD projects.
Why can't iMovie find all my existing videos wherever they are and in whatever format? Then I could view their content and import (and thus copy) only the individual clips I want to use in an iMovie project. That would only duplicate the video files that are actually being used.
iMovie 08 has great potential for a consumer video editing tool, and it will obviously grow in features and capability over time. However, the release version is quite obviously a work in progress. Once again it is clear that Apple considers its software users to be beta testers...and they let us pay for the privilege.+I can't import any video into iMovie. It imported 2 videos from iPhoto and that was all. I have about 30 videos in iPhoto. I've tried it all.+
Search trough this forum a bit. Some people have reported problems with certain characters in file names. It also only imports certain video formats. Some still cameras produce video clips in "unusual" formats that require conversion before iMovie '08 accepts it. -
Can't get any video from iphoto to sync with itouch
I have many videos in iPhoto, all imported from a camera. I wanted to sync these videos to my iTouch, but when I use the "include video" option in the iTunes photo sync, none of the videos came up or was synced. How do I do it?
I am really frustrated with this "exclusive" thing with Apple.
Its not a matter of exclusivity and its not just with Apple. Its a matter of a device with a highly streamlined OS that cannot accommodate every format without expanding to be the size of a full-size computer with a full size OS. In addition, some formats "belong" to another company. Meaning that company owns the right to that format. So while you may have a file in that format, it actually belongs to another company (Sony, Microsoft, Panasonic, etc.) so Apple would have to pay royalties to that company so that it can have "permission" to even open that file type.
For example...AVIs (a format developed by and licensed by Microsoft...and not free): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Video_Interleave
If you are running Mac OS X 10.6.7:
Once you have the video on your desktop, right + Click or ctrl + click on the file and choose open with > Quicktime Player X.
Then go to Share > iTunes and choose the iPad size. This will convert the file on the fly to the correct format for iPad.
Sync the desired movie to iPad.

9.2.1 update can't scroll my videos in iphoto with trackpad
Since my update to 9.2.1 I can no longer scroll videos (fast forward or rewind with two fingers) with trackpad. I was able to do this with all videos in iphoto albums prior to update. Is there a setting or solution to this? Very dissapointed as this was my favourite feature of my mac!
Thanks, MikeiPhoto 9.2.3 is incompatible with MacOS 10.9.3 Mavericks. If you are running Mavericks on your system you need to update iPhoto to 9.5.1. Only, the problem is, that this version is no longer available at the App Store.
The easiest way to get a compatible iPhoto version in that case would be to upgrade to Yosemite, MacOS X 10.10, and then download the most recent iPhoto version from the AppStore, iiPhoto 9.6, like LarryHN suggested.
If you cannot download iPhoto after upgrading to iPhoto 9.6 post back. -
I have iPhoto 11, can I easily find and delete duplicate photos?
Is there an easy way (without going through thousands of photos and deleting them manually) to find and delete duplicate photos that are in my iPhoto library?
For dealing with duplicates in iPhoto check out Duplicate Annihilator

Where do I find videos in iPhoto for Snow Leopard?
I download my photos into iPhoto and then can't find any videos I've done. Where are they?
Thanks again for the response. I have iPhoto 11 and since my upgrade with the new Macbook Pro, the thumbnails in iPhoto don't have the little camera to identify the videos from the pictures. I happened to have iMovie open and I uploaded again and this time it put all the videos in there. I was so jazzed. I even archived them for good measure.
Then, when I went to show my discovery, I went to disconnect the camera in the middle of the video showing and it stopped. The window went away. iMovie has a folder for the stuff I archived, but no trace of the videos. I knew I archived it, but when I went to look for it, I can't find it!!!!!! So not liking this "user friendly Mac" right now! Does anyone have any answers? I live in the jungle of Brazil where I can't get geeks on a regular basis. Any help is much appreciated!
Much appreciated!!! Thanks! -

I have never used iCloud for anything other than my iPhone. If I was to start using iCloud for Pages and Numbers (new version 3.0?). Would my file only reside in iCloud or would it be on my Mac (OS 10.9.2) too? If so if I edited the file on my Mac I
