Can I edit contextual menus?

I use the contextual menus a lot (right-clicking) and the thing that is annoying to me is that there is a lot of clutter in my contextual menus. I would like to remove all the Stuffit references except for Stuffit Expander. I sometimes accidentally select the wrong one and it opens one of the Stuffit components that I don't want. I have looked at what is in the main Library but it doesn't list all the separate components. It just shows the StuffitCM plugin. Is there a way to do this?

Try this:
1. Left click on the Desktop (to make the Finder active).
2. Go to the Menu at the top. Next to the black apple, left click on "Finder."  Scroll down to "Services."
3. When you get down to "Services," move the cursor to the right, to "Services Preferences."
4. In the pop-up, choose "Keyboard Shortcuts."
5. Use the small scroll bar in the pop-up and select or de-select whatever you need. But do not de-select items that you do not know what they are for! Also, it might be a good idea to jot down whatever you change, so that you can restore them if necessary.
This worked perfectly for me for GraphicConverter.

  • Can I edit disc menus outside Premiere 10?

    Hi
Can I edit disc menus outside Premiere 10?
Never done it and I would prefer it, as I find Adobe' is a bit too basic and slow.
    Thanks
    M

    Hi
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Yes, I found them [W7 Home Premium - 64bit - Intel Core2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.54GHz - 200 Pin SO DIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz - Ati Mobility Radeon HD4650 Graphics card uses abot 1GB MAX of the Memory if needed on top of its own 500Mb- X-black LCD 16.4' HD - No game ever had problems of performance yet - 2 years].
The reason I asked about editing them outside Premiere 10 is because the editing in Premiere 10 is the most basic they could do.
I understand Adobe wish us to upgrade to the Pro version but those menus are not much editable and too constricted to the basic design/low quality/button-image-text.
At least some of them are and I am using [testing] a HD one - the 'Fun' one on the General List and I now moved to the 'Grid' - having a more basic background to 'properly' show characters - also sometimes the preview plays at a awful pixel rate.
I am no expert, but I would have preferred a 'proper' external editor to use in conjunction.
When I find the time I will create my own - if possible!
Are there any external Disc Menus Editors so, I can import them into Premiere?

  • RoboHelp 9 - can you edit Style menus?

Hi All, we are using RoboHelp 9 and many of us are accustomed to using the drop-down Style menu located in the upper left corner of the RH GUI, but it does not include all styles. Is there a way to modify the drop-down menu to include all styles? Thanks very much.

No you cannot modify that dropdown. It just shows what is in the Paragraph and Character styles in the Style Pod.

  • Can you access popup menus in behaviours window in Dreamweaver CS5?

I was wondering if you can still edit popup menus in dreamweaver CS5?
If not what is a good addon to create dropdown menus for an image.
    Thanks.

If you were previously using those pathetic MM-Rollover menus from a previous version of DW, you need to replace them ASAP.   They don't work.

Best advice, buy a good menu from Project Seven

    Or use a jQuery Menu

  • Can no longer access contextual menus on the desktop but still can in Dock

What's going on??? I used to be able to right click my mighty mouse on an icon on the desktop and access contextual menus. Now when I right click, all the icons on my desktop disappear then there is a slight pause before they reappear. If I right click in MS Office the application now crashes. Amazingly the contexual menus still work on the Dock and in Safari. Does this sounds like a virus/malware or is it a bug in my system? Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a solution to it?

    Hi, xstatical.
If Finder quits when you either:• Control-click an object.
    • Right-click an object using a two-button mouse. This may be due to either:• Installed software that added a bad contextual menu item.
    • Removed software that left a contextual menu item behind. What software did you last install or remove? Does its documentation refer to its use of Contextual Menu items?
Contextual menu items can be installed in two places:(1) Your Home > Library > Contextual Menu Items folder.
    (2) Computer > Macintosh HD > Library > Contextual Menu Items folder. If the item is in the folder listed in (2), then:
    - Under Tiger or Panther, you'll be prompted to authenticate this operation by providing your Admin password when trashing it.
    - Under Jaguar, you may have to change the Owner to you (via Get Info > Ownership and Permissions) before you can trash it.

  • Background, Images, & text is blacked out. I can not see any menus to edit anything... Help

Background, Images, & text is blacked out. I can not see any menus to edit anything...
The curser shows there are links when you move over. I have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox and restarted my computer with no luck.
I can not see the menus to try and reset Firefox or change any settings.
    HELP Please

hello obrienn214, other users with this problem all had an embedded intel hd3000 graphics card with an old driver present. in case this also applies to you, here would be a link to update the driver, which in turn should also address the black firefox problem: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764 (for win7 64 bit)
in case this doesn't solve the issue or does not apply to your system, start firefox into safemode '''by pressing the shift key while the application is launching''' & disable hardware acceleration in the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > general'' (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

  • Can't edit movie in QT Pro

I have a mpg that I took on my digital camera. It plays fine in QT but the editing controls are not showing up as I roll over the timeline.
Also when i import into iMovie, I get the video but there is no audio.
This is a movie of my 4 month old which I really want to edit. HELP

I have a mpg that I took on my digital camera. It plays fine in QT but the editing controls are not showing up as I roll over the timeline.
Multiplexed compression formats like MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 are "playback only" as far as the QT structure is concerned. Since the content is not "edit" compatible, QT Pro's contextual menus/controls are de-activated. And, while the video content can be converted to a fully compatible QT compression format, it will lose the audio since QT (a multitrack time-based engine) does not know how to cope with multiplexed files with spatially interspersed blocks of audio and video content in a single data stream. In this case, use an MPEG-based, third-party application like MPEG Streamclip (free) for your conversions to iMovie "native" editing compression formats like DV. NOTE: MPEG Streamclip requires the QT MPEG-2 Playback component for use with MPEG-2 files.

  • Contextual menus crashing apple apps

    Hi,
Just recently I've had a problem with right-clicking to see contextual menus. I notice that this is only in apple applications, such as Safari, Mail, and Text.
I also can't seem to find any folder containing what might be in the menu items so that I can view and possibly delete the offending item.
any ideas? I just tried clearing system cache as well, but nothing changed. I also tried logging in as a different user and that didn't fix it either.
    thanks!
    Dave

3rd party contextual menu items are known to often cause such crashes.
Look in /Library/Contextual menus and homedirectory/Library/Contextual menus.
move whatever you find there out of these directories and see if that clears things up.

  • Can't Edit a PDF in Acrobat X Pro

Hi! I am BRAND new to Acrobat. I bought Acrobat X Pro and I am trying to edit an existing PDF form (which I didn't create).  I watched the tutorials and I am able to bring it over to Acrobat but I can't edit it.  There is only a FORMS option to the upper right hand side.  Where are the Tools, Comment and Share menus that I see on the Abode TV videos?  Can someone please help me out? I have about 8 of these pdf forms that I need to edit.

First check that the form is not secured (ctrl-D > security). If it is protected you are up a creek. Assuming it is not, then you should be able to select the Tools menu (top right below the menu bar) and select the forms in that menu (I am assuming that AAX is similar to AAXI). In AA9, there is a forms menu on the menu bar. These are the tools for AcroForms (not Designer forms).
You would select to edit the fields. If that is not possible, then it is likely a Designer form. I think you can look at the document properties under ctrl-D to determine the produce that produced the file. It should indicate Designer or Live-Cycle if that is what produced the form. If it was Designer, then open the form in Designer to edit the form.

  • Problem with contextual menus after 10.9.3 update

Hello, since the update to 10.9.3 i am experiencing problems with contextual menus. The problem is more frequent when I use an external screen.
First problem: I am losing the icons in the top bar of the finder. This happens mostly on external screens.
Second problem: The arrows indicating submenus upon a right click are lost. This problem is also present when I use the internal screen of my Macbook.
Sometimes, the icons in the left menu bar of the finder are also lost (mostly Dropbox):
Is there anything I can do? Is this a known problem?
    My current system:
Macbook Pro Retina 13" (late 2013)
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    8 Gb Ram
    Intel Iris
    Thanks!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • [Gnome 3.2 fallback] Can't edit Applications - Accessories menu items

Since the upgrade to 3.2 I can't edit Accessories menu list. Any idea how to to remove this feature?
    Off-topic:
Does anyone else gets gray-to-black gradient on focused window list (panel) items? I've installed fresh Arch with Gnome 3.2 in VBox and I get the same thing there too (including inability to edit Accessories list).

How do you mean 'editing Accessories menu'? You can enable/disable elements from Applications menu by right clicking on it, and select 'Edit menus'. You can get a more functional menu editor by installing alacarte (gtk2) or alacarte-git (gtk3) from AUR.
And I also get gray-to-black gradient for active window on windows list on bottom panel, which makes the name of the window unreadable.

  • How to remove old items from right-click contextual menus?

So, I've installed two versions of Photoshop. The older CS4 and then recently upgraded to CS5. I've uninstalled some items (Photoshop CS4, Illustrator CS4) from the system using the Adobe uninstaller. But for some strange reason, if I control-click or right-click on an item, say a PDF, Photoshop CS4 or Illustrator CS4 Still show up in the list ...
I've searched the ~/Library/ folder and can't find a Contextual menus folder.
In the /Library/Contextual menus folder only 1 item is listed even if I show all files.
Any ideas? I'm very much lost and I would really like to have the applications that no longer exist on the drive removed from the list... Thanks in advance

  • Removing Open With dialog from contextual menus

Does anyone know how to remove the "Open With..." option from contextual menus?
    Thanks

    musicwind95 wrote:
What are you trying to do?
I'm hoping to find an option to remove the Open With dialog which I never use. If I right click on a simple JPEG to move it to the trash and happen to land on the Open With dialog it takes almost ten seconds to populate the dialog before I can move off of it. It is a consequence of having, and using, hundreds of applications. I'm also an extensive user of contextual menus. I get stuck with that unexpected delay numerous times each day. It is annoying.

  • "Contextual Menus" problem accessing them?

    Hi
My contextual menus do not show up with the usual click and hold down of my mouse bar
They do open if I hold down ctrl then click and hold.
This has only happened since an install of new hard drive but it is really annoying me especially with firefox and opening new tabs within the same window.
This happens with ALL software not just Firefox, just in case you thought FF was the problem
If anyone has the answer I would be really grateful.

Tough one. I'd start by making a folder on your desktop, and then, migrate over to User/Library/Prefence folder. Select every preference that looks like "com.apple...plist (except the "dock" one), and move it to the folder you made. Now, logout. If it doesn't help. you can put them all back, or not.

  • Universal edit of menus

Spry menus will not store in the "Assets" area. How can I
edit the menu so that all other instances of a Spry menu,
horizontal or vertical, will be automatically updated?

It sounds like you are still using the default tabbed form with the MissingFields FieldRef. Although the MissingFields field is OK for testing with IDM, it's generally not what you want when you are starting to get serious for the following reasons:
    1) The fields it generates are not very pretty.
    2) The fields it generates are all global fields. If you have users that have accounts on multiple resources, global fields don't always synch these fields in the desired way.
    3) The fields it generates don't handle multi-valued fields properly.
I think reason 3 is what is causing your problem. If you want to manage objectClass, then you'll want to specify a MultiSelect or TextArea field in your form.
    Hope that helps.
