Can i embed a file in my pages document

Hi there,
I'm providing links to my work in a pages doc. For work that has no website, I wanted to embed a pdf file within Pages. So that you'd click on an "internal" link and the pdf would open. If not pdf, I can always use a jpg. Is this doable? If so, can anyone share the steps?
Thanks.

Closest you'd get is to put it on a webpage and link to the URL, or to drag the .pdf of the page into a page in Pages.
Pages is not a presentation package with interactivity, for that look to Keynote or make the entire document into a .pdf and make all the effects and links in that.

  • Can you insert a file path in pages document

Is there any way of inserting a "file path" into a document in the new version of pages. You could do it in Pages 09 but I can't find any way of doing in the new
Version. I know the inference is you are using the cloud - therefore file paths are not needed - but a lot of us still store documents in various places ( especially in the work place).

    No.
Pages 5 has over 90 other features removed:

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Export your Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx and trash/archive Pages 5.
Then rate/review Pages 5 in the App Store.

  • Can I embed a PDF file within a Pages document?

I am working with Pages '09 and would like to embed a rather long PDF document file into my Pages text.  I want the reader to be able to click on the PDF file and have it open so that the reader can gather more information on the subject without making the actual Pages document text any longer.  I don't want the PDF file to be an external link that sends the reader away from the document -- I want to know if I can embed the PDF file WITHIN the pages document and have it open only when clicked.  I don't think I can do this.  Thanks.
    Small Town Gal.

I found my answer within archived discussions - convert the file to a PDF and then embed the PDF file as an attachment.  Thanks.

My current version of Chrome is having problems, too! It's so annoying. Anyone have any suggestions now? I basically can't view or download any PDFs because of this.
Does anyone else think this is a problem not only with Adobe? I would think Apple would have something to do with this? Wouldn't they get some idea from the developer versions that no browser can open PDFs while running Lion!? Pretty bad customer service on the part of a company that prides itself on being VERY customer-friendly. Wouldn't you say?

  • I close the textedit programme , open Pages, click on the 09 pages file to be opened and the message "The document "7-09 receipts" could not be opened. TextEdit cannot open files in the "Pages document"

What's this??? How do I open the pages doc???   Kalavati

You have obviously not done what you think you have done.
You have tried to open a .pages document in TextEdit which can't read them.
If you are confused which program you are in look to the top left of the menu.
You can either drag the .pages file onto the Pages icon on the Dock, open it from within Pages' Open dialog, double click on it or right mouse click > open with.

Not from a document, but there are envelope templates in Pages you can use.

  • Can I embed 3D PDFs in an InDesign document?

"Can I embed 3D PDFs in an InDesign document and the export the document as a PDF with the 3D surviving the process?"

3D PDFs are quite rare, and I've never actually viewed one, even though I work with PDFs all the time.
However, I'm certain that InDesign has no concept of 3D artwork. Most images are not embedded but are linked.
For these reasons, I think it would impossible for you to place it and export it, preserving the 3D.

  • Import a .eps or .ai files into a Pages document?

Does anyone know of a way to import .eps or .ai files into a Pages document?

I tried it again with a new EPS file from the web and drag'n'drop worked fine.
After some testing, I suspect that Pages doesn't like encapsulated postscript files that don't have a preview inside, or perhaps old embedded fonts are related;  I honestly don't parse EPS that well, in my head. I hope the preview thing isn't true as that's kinda anti-EPS, but I'll likely not dig further in this case.
Full disclosure;  the header did have some random garbage in front of the file, but it didn't seem to be interpreted <≈–”∆ {πôπX ˇˇ%!PS-Adobe-3.0 EPSF-3.0>
So, it seems I was wrong with my discrete example and it's as easy as drag and drop, if everything is up to date for flookoco.

  • We have family sharing set up between all the family idevices. Can we share either Notes or a Pages document between devices?

We have family sharing set up between all the family I devices. We want to collaborate on a document.  Can we share either Notes or a Pages document between devices?  We are all using iPad 2 or later and/or iPod touch or iPhone 5

The "Sharing" part of Family Sharing refers mainly to purchased content. iCloud synced content such as Notes and contacts as well as documents is not included. While I do not know of anyway to share notes, iWorks documents can be shared directly from the app via an iCloud link.

    Danny,
Sure you csn. Don't be afraid to try this kind of stuff for yourself. If things don't work out, just Command-Z your way back to the previous state. In this case it should work just great. Once your multiple selection appears in Pages, click off the selected new objects to de-select them, then select them one at a time for positioning.

  • I saved web page as html file, but can't open saved file as web page

I did a FILE, SAVE PAGE AS, then chose 'WEB PAGE COMPLETE' - and a directory is created on my hard drive - with the directory name, for example - "c:\....\Ask a Question _ Mozilla Support.htm". (for this web page).
When I try to open the saved web page from Firefox, using FILE, OPEN, I see a new window that looks like a file manager window, I then select that saved .html file and click OPEN, and a new window opens that looks like file manager - displaying with all the files in that directory - "Ask a Question _ Mozilla Support.htm". That is, it does not open and dislpay the web page as I expect it should (that I saved earlier).
However, if I go to the file manager, I can see that directory is saved, and has the Windows Explorer icon associated with the directory "ask a question ....html", and also has a file type of HTML listed. If I double click that directory in file manager, Windows Explorer will open that directory and dis[play it as a web page, as I expected.
I would like to know why Firefox does not open the directory name as a web page from the FILE, OPEN command, but instead shows me the directory contents(all the files in that directory)?
BTW, if I try FILE, OPEN, using Windows Explorer the same thing happens - it opens a new window listing all the files in that directory.
Is this the way the FILE, OPEN is supposed to work?
It seems confusing, because if I am in any other program, for example WinWord, and do a FILE, OPEN command on a Word file, it opens the file as a Word Document - it does not just show the file in a "file manager window.
But when I click FILE, OPEN on an HTML file(directory using Firefox, it does not open that html directory as a web page?

I am in the Windows Explorer 'Details' view, and I see the folder with 'Type' of FILE FOLDER. In that folder are all the .js and .css and .png files - as cor-el said.
''But now I also see'' that there is also an htm file - ''with the exact same name ''as the folder, but it has a 'Type' of 'HTML Document'. When I have Firefox do a File, Open on the HTML Document - it does open the web page that I saved and does display it as a web page.
I did not realize that Firefox saves both:
    1) a Directory '''(Type 'File Folder') '''''', and,
    2) an html file''' (Type 'HTML Document')
... '''and that they are the exact same names! '''
I was clicking on the wrong one! Instead of clicking in the .html file, I was incorrectly clicking on the folder!
(The archive add on looks interesting, but shouldn't I be able to open the saved web page, from the browser, using File, Open File) ?

  • Can't Print PDF files exported from Pages

I spent all weekend creating a 25 page document - exported it to PDF and it won't print at all. Sent it to 50 customers before I discovered the problem
I used the same fonts and template last year in a document in Version 1 of Pages and had no problems.
I can print directly from Pages and also no problems printing if I export to Word but not PDF which is of course the format I require!
I checked the security setting in Acrobat and none are set so it sould be fine!
    Help!?!

Can you open and print the the file in Preview? I found Acrobat Reader a little flakey with X and deleted it from my system. I use Preview for everything.
Instead of the export feature have you tried printing to pdf? See if it makes any difference.

  • Can i convert a file of double-pages to a file of single pages

I have a file of double pages which i want to convert to a file of single pages.  How can I do this in Acrobat?

Some folks have written JavaScripts to resolve this issue, but I am not sure about with scans. If you wait around, one of the folks with the JavaScript might drop by and help (don't expect an immediate response). If you search the forum, you might find the script references. This issue comes up once or twice a year. If it is a small file and you have the time, you can crop the left side and save, then recrop to the write side and save. Then combine the two files and reorder. After you complete ordering, you may want to go to the Protect tools and use the remove hidden option and do a save as to hopefully get the desired result. I think the JavaScript simply duplicate each page and then crop the two, repeating the process through the entire file, then eliminate hidden information and save, but not sure.

  • Can I embed audio files using iframe?

I would like to embed audio files for people to listen to as part of the survey.
I'm looking at services like podsnack, audioboom, or soundcloud (soundcloud is not ideal as it's 128kbps)
This is the url I'm looking at:
    <iframe style="border:none" src="http://files.podsnack.com/iframe/embed.html?hash=av7tm7dr&t=1412087325" width="460" height="60" allowfullscreen="true" mozallowfullscreen="true" webkitallowfullscreen="true"></iframe>
    PodSnack embed
    Is this possible?
    Thanks!

NO, and yes.  Here’s the answer to your problem.  Create a web page embed your music into the page.  Then embed this form into the page. There you go now you have a page with music as your guests fill out the form...
Now if they need to read it as a pdf with music then just save the form as a pdf. create a new page from any word processing document.  Save the document.  Open it up in Acrobat.  Embed music.  Import the form into the document and there you go form with music.  The only problem with that they need acrobat to use the interactive form.
